I bought this for a trip going through a few countries in western Europe. Following some of the reviewer's suggestion, I went on their website to activate the card 2 days in advance (no activation on Sundays).Plug it in when I landed at the airport and it worked right away.No issues in calling or using data. Thanks to another user who pointed out that to dial "local" in EU, must dial 00 to exit UK.There were the odd times that there were no service when we went through rural areas. And you need to restart the phone going through different zones/countries in order to get it going again. A bit of inconvenience but much better than using the international package from home.The seller really should make it clear in their listing that sim card needs to be activated on their website before travelling. That would have reduced the frustration for many.Personally, I will buy again for similar trips.Update: 2nd purchaseThis time there was no activation instruction came with the card. I will admit, I was skeptical after reading some of the negative reviews but I pulled the trigger and bought 2 for my trip to Portugal with the girlfriend for 17 days as this was the only card I found that offered the plan for 30 days.

When they arrived I noticed I got the unlimited calling/texting cards which didn’t matter to me as I couldn’t call/text home to Canada. Reading reviews I saw some people had issues with setting up the SIMs and getting them to work. I contacted Three before leaving and they assured me all I had to do was insert the SIM where I would get a series of texts saying that the plan was being activated and to leave the phone on and then one when it was activated and good to go.

Upon arrival in Amsterdam, we both popped the SIMs in and within 5 minutes we were up and running with no issues and fast 4G service. We both setup accounts with the Three App which was easy and straight forward. In the app it would show you you usage details easily. Calling was good within our destinations even though we could not call/text home to Canada but iMessage worked with no issues. One thing you do need to do on your phone is turn on Data Roaming as you are out of the U.K. and roaming anywhere in Europe which is easy and simple to do.

All in all, a very good deal and a very good service. Sure beats TELUS’ $12 a day. I will definitely use this SIM again for traveling.

Bought card on August 8 for travel in Switzerland. Inserted into iPhone on September 16. Worked fine for one day and then...no connection at all. Chatted with their tech support online, who told me that I needed to pay an additional 10 pounds because the card is actually just a blank card. Completely unacceptable, because that is not what the package I received says. So I refused, and spent the rest of my trip without connection. Add insult to injury, I am now trying to get a refund, and apparently the "return window" closed on September 9, before I even had a chance to use it. What a scam. I'd stay away if I were you.

bought 5 of these for our family trip to Europe 4 were used in Iphone 8 1 was in an iphone 5c
on the plane I inserted the cards into the phones we landed in Paris turned airplane mode off 4 phones received texts with instructions to turn phone on and off then we got 4G data right away One Iphone 8 was searching it had a waterproof case on it we removed the case and it worked right away In France we had the orange network data worked fine as did texting we could NOT call each others phones BUT could call landlines and receive calls from landlines we left for Berlin phones worked fine and we COULD make calls we then went to Rome and everything worked fine we boarded a cruise and it worked at all ports (Italy, France, Spain) and at sea it worked if we could receive cell signal it did NOT work well inside ship but was fine if near window or on deck back to Rome all worked fine had 4G 99% of the time the odd time if data would not work switching on airplane mode then airplane mode back off fixed it I used my phone a lot and only used 1.2gb data I did NOT stream video I used google maps and texting and emails with the few searches here and there I did call customer service about the calls not working in france and they did call me back but I had already moved to Germany and did not care to deal with it overall I would buy these again if I went to Europe

I purchased two of these for a trip to Italy. They generally worked well, but both had connectivity problems at times. Speed was not great, but they were worth the cost. I was a bit nervous purchasing these due to the negative reviews, but a colleague had purchased one and had no problems.

Activation was not a problem. The cards came quickly (thanks Amazon!) and online activation was easy and straight forward. I set the date of activation at 3 days before travel as recommended. On the activation date, I received an email telling me that it was ready for use. We did NOT plug them into the phones at that time, but waited until we are at our destination.

When we arrived at our destination, we plugged the cards in, and after a few minutes, we received a text telling us how many minutes and Gigs of data we had remaining. This took a few minutes to connect so don't panic.

We used the cards throughout Italy, and they worked the majority of the time. There were times when one or the other couldn't connect so it was a bit frustrating, but they worked more often than the didn't. Offline maps do not give walking directions so it was good to be able to get online to figure out where we were, on the multiple occasions we got lost. The cards do not work on cruise ships as noted and as expected, but they worked when we were in port.

Overall, I would purchase these again for a trip as these saved us a lot of roaming money.

My wife and I purchased two of these for our month and a half long trip to Europe. They worked great! We used them in Norway, Germany, Austria, Denmark and the Faroe Islands. We had a few sketchy service areas while driving in the mountains and in the country. But otherwise we had 3G or 4G almost everywhere. The only complaint I have is that they only last 30 days. I went online to my3 to reload the SIM cards, but it’s not possible unless you have a UK address. I even contacted customer support to reload and they couldn’t do it. I had to overnight another SIM card from amazon US to Germany. If I would have known that I couldn’t reload, I would have purchased more while in the US. The cheapest similar SIM card in Germany was 25.00 euro but only came with 3GB of data. I will purchase a few more of these for our next trip to Europe. I highly recommend!

I got the Three SIM card for an older iPhone to use in the United Kindgom and Greece. Despite the SIM card itself being a bit difficult to insert, once I did I was able to activate it from the USA before leaving. For two weeks I had great service for 3G and 4G data across the UK and Greece. I was able to make local calls in London and in Greece. I was under the impression one could call the USA and I tried to call my dad for Father's Day but apparently you need to top up with more money to call overseas from Europe. Still for the price it's not a bad deal. If you visit the UK, Three Stores are everywhere. I will likely use this next year in Europe. My main gripe is Three should let Americans know the SIM does not cover calls back to the USA.

In the shopping mall, at the airport, outlet stores even at some of the hotels I stayed. The speed is not consistent but it's working though and very inexpensive.
