Product description

Pioneer Pro DJ PLX-1000 High-Torque Direct Drive Professional Turntable - Black

From the manufacturer

High-torque direct drive professional turntable (black)

1

A REBORN CLASSIC

  • The PLX-1000 is precision engineered for the booth, drawing on 50 years’ experience of making high-end turntables. The result is a familiar layout with some next generation improvements, including a high-torque direct drive system, multi-pitch control, club-grade build and sound quality, and detachable power and audio cables. It’s solidly built for excellent vibration damping and ultra-precise, high-grade audio playback.
  • Simply add your choice of cartridge and stylus to the PLX-1000 (not included) and combine with your mixer for an ideal setup for turntablists. An ideal match for DJs is the handmade PC-X10 (sold separately).

Key Features

Turn the Tables

The high-torque direct drive ensures stable rotation and exceptional control – and it reaches 33⅓ rpm in just 0.3 seconds thanks to a starting torque of 4.5kg/cm (or more).

Excellent Sound Design

The PLX-1000’s heavy-mass, die-cast zinc chassis prevents resonance and vibrations. The lower part of the unit is reinforced with 8mm-thick resin, plus 9mm-thick, vibration-damping material at the base. Plus the rubber-insulated tone arm reduces howling effects, while rubber and springs on the dampening parts of the insulator absorb external vibrations.

Pick Up The Pace

Multi-tempo control lets you instantly pick up or slow down the track to ±8%, ±16% and ±50%, while a simple reset button instantly reverts to ±0%.

Flexible connectivity

Interchangeable power and audio cables can be easily connected and replaced, and pro-grade gold-plated RCA jacks ensure low impedance and an amazing sound quality.

Good TT
Received my Pioneer PLX-1000 month ago. The TT quality is good. But be prepared for some custom adjustment. There are some differences from "parent" Technics TT. The minimum cartridge height for this TT is 19mm, but lot of cartridges have the 18mm height. So, it was required to use 2mm shim with Ortofon cartridge to correctly set VTA. Also the overhang is 54mm instead of 52mm, so its not possible to use the Technics Needle Adjustment Gauge. Overal this TT is excelent.

Awesome turntable. Speed is dead on and motor is silent. Currently Paired with a Denon DL-103 MC cart. This thing can make music!

Tonearm bearings were loose from the factory which is a known problem, but requires a couple of small screw drivers, some research, and some patience. You may not care if your using this for DJ/scratching, but i'm using this in my Hi-Fi.

Other than the tonearm bearings (for the price of this thing I can't complain) it appears to be very well built.

Highly recommended.

All I can say is I love my 1200 and always will but as I read one review , I will repeat what he wrote. The Pioneer is bright and clean and it's more fun to play. That's it in a nutshell. The Technics is sweet sounding but the Pioneer adds energy and life to the music.

I was looking at a Technics or this turntable. After a lot of reviews said this sounded as good and was cheaper, I went with the Pioneer. So far it sounds fantastic. It's a heavy unit, but takes up the same about of space as most Turntables. Setup isn't hard, fine tuning is a little more difficult, but not to hard. It does not come with a cartridge. I paired it with a Audio Technics AT-VM95ML. You just connect to the 4 poles and slide it on the arm. Even with buying the Cartridge it was cheaper than the Technics of the same capabilities. Assembly of the table is as simple as putting in the table. You get different tops if you want to listen or DJ And scratch. So, something for any use. The player is well laid out and has slot for the 45 adapter. As I don't need the DJ options I just reset everything to defaults and played records. The instructions included and online can walk you through a proper setup.
The player does not come with an equalizer or amplifier. My receiver has a Phono input so it plugs right in. If you don't have a Phono input you'll need an external device to get the sound to line level. It comes with a RCA cable and ground wire. It does not have auto return at the end of the record. Once everything was set I tried rock, jazz, classical, and it all sounds great. The lights blue record and a white needle light at not a distraction and the needle light can be turned off. Overall, a nice turntable for home use. I'm getting back into records and this was a nice compromise between a beginner turntable and spending over a $1K for a decent turntable. All seems good to me.

Build quality was my first thought when buying a turntable, I didn't want something flimsy and light, I wanted a unit that had some heft to it. The PLX 1000 is built like a tank, and its very heavy, it has a solid platter a thick rubber mat that does not just dampen vibration it eliminates them altogether. comes with 2 other mats, for scratching, it looks gorgeous and the sound quality from the deck is beautiful, I have a Nagaoka MP 110 cartridge I have not used yet, I got a second head shell as a spare and that came with an Audio Technica cartridge AT3600L and its a cheap cartridge but my god on this turntable sounds great, punchy, great bass and very clear, for the price Its a great cartridge. So even a £20.00 cartridge sounds fantastic, I cant recommend the Pioneer PLX 1000 enough, its a good solid unit, that looks great and sounds even better.
