I recently migrated one post-paid and three prepaid services (for coworkers) to PhoneBox and the process could not have been any easier. For example, my wait time for customer service (to port my numbers over) never exceeded 10 or 12 minutes and it only took 3 keystrokes on the dial pad to get to the correct department. The personnel were courteous, knowledgeable and true to their word with respect to the process. Aside from value, I really enjoy the 4G LTE speed on the prepaid accounts. Most other prepaid services restrict their data speeds to no more than 3 Mbps, even though they are clearly using the 4G network. With respect to THIS $40 offer for 8GB, it provides a great opportunity for anyone to try the service prior to signing over to it, as the activation is easy (read the attached instructions) and no credit card is required unless you wish to continue with the service beyond 30 days. Speaking of "30 days", my ONLY criticism is not being billed on the SAME DAY every month, but rather every 30 days. Not a big deal, just an annoyance!

I received the SIM card on a Friday and went to activate it. I tried several times, and each time got the error that “The SIM card number is invalid!” I called their support number and was advised by a robot; everyone was busy and I could leave my number for a call back. This was the only option, so I left my number. Ten minutes later, the robot called back and said no one was available. End of call. So ….. I emailed their support address. No reply Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. I called their support number again Monday and spoke to someone. They got the same result when they tried to activate it and could not do anything to fix it. Told me I could go to their website and buy another one. It would take 5 to 7 business days. The company is obviously not run very well, with a very poor support system. I will take my business somewhere else.

So the sim itself is good, and we will reuse it, but we purchased the wrong style of plan online and then had to reorder it. I hope that we can get our money back for our original purchase.

Confusing.

Also, it's a Rogers Sim card, since they use Rogers towers, but then we called Rogers and that was confusing too.

Update: yet another day has passed with no response from anyone. I followed the included instructions but it says the code on the SIM card isn't valid. I didn't receive a response the day I contacted support so let's see if I get one after a couple of days. They did ask me to pay more for a new one than I paid for this one. The smallest plan I had the option of buying was 7gb instead of the 3gb it offers on this ad, but it's still a better plan price than is available with the Canadian carrier options I could get myself currently.

Traveled to Banff and several National Parks, sim card worked great. Event though on Amazon picture said $5 to purchase-it is a sim card without any data or service yet, you have to register on online following the instruction upon receipt of package. So signed up online, enter the dates while in Canada, select the DATA in GB - I chose 7GB/CAD$20 (only used about 2GB), i have iPhone 11 - unlocked phone. Reviewing the purchase - this was done thru "PHONEBOX" website. When landing in Calgary, inserted sim to iPhone, worked. as in national parks, cell pone signals are limited to none. GPS like Google map worked very well. Was very helpful with good internet speed, searching for sites and restaurants to visit.

I was in the U.S. and had a trip to Canada and I wanted to have data/wifi on my phone ideally already when arriving so I could use it to call an Uber or whatever... I had read the reviews and they were mixed but I thought for this price it was worth a shot! And it worked great for me!

Now just to clarify... This super cheap phone card of course does NOT include a plan, data and minutes etc..

What this card is great for is be able to already activate a number before arriving and then you can choose whatever plan works for you. I went to Phonebox online and also downloaded their app and it was easy to activate and choose a plan. One time I had a question and support was helpful and easy.

If you're someone that wants to have the convenience of having a number and data while in Canada I can highly recommend. It worked great for me.
