It fell apart
I'm am absolutely shocked this collar fell apart. My dog came in from outside and this is what it looked like. They are very expensive. I love the system, but I am extremely disappointed in the performance of this collar. I sincerely hope for some assistance in contacting Petsmart for some options.

I submitted an earlier review about this product having water damage etc. but this is just the extra collar we purchased and it works great. We bought a system from a reseller as new but it had water damage that I found after the return period ended

These dog collars are an absolute god send! They are compatible with my electric fence and I now have 2 collars for both dogs!
Would recommend to anyone looking into getting a new dog (way cheaper than building a fence too :)

Unit is NOT rechargeable and unlike our prime receiver does not have OFF position on battery cover (confirmed by PetSafe). No manual in the box but downloaded from PetSafe. To contain visiting dog we purchased this as a second unit, it works as advertised but with no OFF switch the battery will need to be removed between visits to extend battery life. Would be OK for full time use, battery is expected to last 30+ days.

The doggies figured out the fence line in a day. They don't challenge it at all. All the dog walkers on the street can't believe our doggos don't go near the road or off to the neighbours. I got them on sale at $77

I think they'd be pricey at full retail.

Collar works well! However, the protector cover for the button to adjust settings warped and could no longer be removed.

I bought this to replace collars for my invisible fence brand underground fence. Really nice collar and it didn’t look too bulky on my 30 lb frenchies. Unfortunately, they are not compatible with my fence. When I called customer service they were very friendly and helpful.

I bought this in April 2012 to replace original collar/receiver that we've had for seven years (the connective part of the receiver to the collar cracked), I had it duct taped for the last 10-months. The receiver part is still working great. So far this new collar seems to be doing the job. It is lighter than the original. The collar isn't as thick a nylon as I'd hope and the buckle is definitely smaller and thinner plastic. I feel this will probably crack soon with as much use as it gets.

The radio receiver seems to work well, although today makes exactly one month since we received and starting using it and the light started flashing to show a low battery (Heads-up PetSafe, too many complaining about battery usage). The other receiver we had could go at least 6-months before replacing the battery. I know my dog doesn't keep testing it. She's known her boundary for seven years and I've watched her stay several feet away from the activation area. So this leads me to believe this unit has poor battery usage and will know in the next month or so if I need to replace the battery again. If so, this is unacceptable and PetSafe needs to correct this in this receiver. I don't know what the difference is between this one and our original receiver, but it needs to make pet parents feel their dog is safe when wearing this collar and that it will not fail them when they let their dog out. I also feel if you paid full price or close to it, you paid too much!

The batteries can be bought on Amazon (best price, but can be bought at well known pet stores too), which are the same ones as the original receiver I had. I will update on battery usage later on.

This does NOT come with both long and short contacts. You have to purchase the long ones separately. The little tool they included for testing is great, now I don't have to shock myself to test it. The receiver's beep is fairly faint unless you have your ear almost next to it, but since dogs have more acute hearing than we do I guess that's fine.

UPDATE ON BATTERY: When I replaced the battery in May after having the unit one month, the new battery started flashing almost immediately. I called PetSafe and the customer service person suggested that the units memory (more or less) was thinking the old battery was still in it. You have to drain the memory or reset the unit before putting in a new battery. This is done by holding down the static correction button for 20-30 seconds to drain it without a battery installed. Then install the fresh battery. This did work, but that battery only lasted one month too. I replaced the battery again in June. Before actually replacing it, I tried removing it, depressing the static control again for 20-secs and reinstalled it in the collar. This gave me almost another two weeks on this battery when it started blinking again and I replaced it.(didn't want to take a chance on it going dead while my dog was out). This leads me to believe there is something wrong with the receiver's usage of the battery and it drains them faster than my original collar's receiver did or it needs to be reset periodically because the memory part itself is defective. PetSafe did state to call them if I keep having problems. I think I will and express my disappointment in this collar and the fear that it won't keep my dog (Pet)safe! Maybe if all of us who feel this way called them, they might correct this receiver.

UPDATE: I have since contacted Petsafe and complained about the battery usage of this collar and that I believe it to be defective. It's battery usage never got better and I got tired of spending money on batteries and of having to replace them every 3-weeks or so. I had contacted them through their website and explained what was going on. Since my collar had still been within the year warranty and I emailed them copies of my receipts, they sent me a free brand new collar along with a 2-pack of batteries. They also sent a postage paid mail label to return the old collar. I have to say this new collar is working great and so far (hope I don't jinx it) batteries are lasting longer. If it's happening to you, I would suggest calling or contacting them through their website and ask for a new collar if your warranty is still good. You will have to have receipt proof of purchase. If you don't, they offer a new collar for a discounted price. Good Luck!

This was missing the screw on cap for the button that changes settings, the button does not press right, have to use a fork tine to press it, and the battery sent with it was dead. But it was $30 cheaper bc it was repackaged.

This is the second time we purchased this brand of wireless dog collar. Our small dog has worn the same one for at least 13 years, replaced the webbed collar a few times for cleanliness and replaced the battery. But is a great product.
