Not perfect, but does the job.
I just bought this pet booster seat after looking at a ton of different kinds. My dog is a shetland sheepdog, considered a medium sized breed, so finding a booster to fit him has been a bit of a struggle.I stumbled across this one and thought it looked promising. It had lots of great reviews and the name "jumbo" gave me hope.So I purchased it. It arrived two days before it was supposed to, which was a pleasant surprise. The harness fit my dog well (which I bought separately, but it's by the same brand) and putting the actual booster seat together was quite easy and straight forward. The fabric cover was easy enough to put on, but the other fabric piece that fits over that one was a little screwed up. None of the velcro pieces met up where they were supposed to (I double checked that I didn't have anything backwards) so I chalk that up to manufacture defect.Installing it into my vehicles was a breeze, and I anxiously grabbed my dog to go for a ride. I put him in the seat, and it was a little small. He can sit in it fine, but laying down for him was a little uncomfortable. He's 25 lbs, so he's not huge, and I expected this to fit him a little better. My only other complaint is how hard the side pieces are. Definitely not too comfortable for him on long car rides, since he has to rest his head on the hard sides and it's a little too small for him to turn around when he's strapped in.The best part about this booster seat is, despite my dog not fitting the best, he loves it. You can tell he feels special and adores having his own special seat to sit in for car rides.My only suggestions for this product is to come in different colours and be slightly bigger with padded sides. Other than that, great booster seat!P.S: in the last photo, this is my new puppy in the seat. It has served me well, and is great for his size! He loves car rides in his seat!

My dog LOVES this seat. If we bring it in the house she will sleep in it as if it was a bed. Sturdy and easy enough to get strapped in the car. The carabiner clips onto her harness and would fit most collar hoops. The strap is key to holding her in so I'm not nervous about her poking her nose out of the window. 15 lb Chiweenie in the photo, but the seat will accommodate her and our 9 week old German Sheppard if they snuggle. Just be warned the car seat does take up about 1.5 seats in our Ford Escape so don't expect to fill the remaining spaces with people.

I almost didn't buy this seat because of all the reviews saying how difficult it was to assemble, or how flimsy and brittle the plastic was. I'm really glad I order it anyway because the assembly directions were very clear and easy to follow, and I did not find the plastic brittle or flimsy. It bent where it was supposed to and didn't crack. And it held up to my 40lb daughter sitting in it. The frame took literally five minutes to put together and did not require any amount of strength. I'm not a handy person at all by the way. Every hole has a letter by it and the tab that goes into the hole has the same letter. All that's required is that you put the tab into the corresponding hole, making sure the smooth side of the pieces faces into the seat interior and the holey side faces out, and then you slide the tab into place. That's it. It took me longer to figure out how the fabric goes on the frame than it did for me to assemble the frame itself, but that's probably because I tried to do it without reading the instructions at first. So, the takeaway is, read the instructions. Then everything will be easy. Haha!
After the seat is assembled, my dog jumped into it right away and proceeded to chew a cow ear in it. The cow ear fell out a few times and he jumped out, picked it up, and jumped back into the seat to continue chewing. So I guess he really likes the seat and has no trouble getting in and out of it! I was worried that the seat wasn't deep enough when I looked at it online, but as you can see from my photo, it does have depth to it so that the dog wouldn't fall out. In fact it's probably the perfect depth so that a small dog can easily get in by itself.
When installed in the car, the Solvit seat raises my dog to the perfect height to see out of the window of my Acura MDX. The top of the seat comes to the bottom of the car window. The seatbelt went through easily and holds the seat securely. It barely budges when pulled on in the bucket front passenger seat even though there is a gap between the Solvit seat and the backrest of the bucket seat. The Solvit seat does not fit in the back passenger seat with a child carseat installed in the middle, at least not in my SUV. It's slightly wider than the width of my bucket seats, which probably is why it's secure and stable in a bucket seat, but means it takes up slightly more room.
Overall a perfect carseat for my little dog! Do not hesitate to get it if you're on the fence like I was!
