This is the fourth time we installed this fence in the 20 years we’ve lived here. The product works well but the wire that’s included isn’t that great because it doesn’t last and it’s too light so we bought a better, longer wire. We only had to make 1 connection on our 4 acre property. Hoping it will last. We rented a gas powered grass edger for the wire installation and it made the job much easier. The debt was about 2-3” which seems sufficient. Overall a good product and would recommend.

The media could not be loaded.
have a big french mastiff that started running through back of my yard in to the neighbours side.

needed something that gave him
freedom but kept him in so i tried this…

instalation is easy but it will take you a good saturday :) but well worth the work.

dog got used to it after only two tries of getting through. never tried again

correction levels are easy to use and i tried them on myself before using on dog and its is as humane as you could imagine.

had it for a year now and no repairs neede yet even as we have lots of snow and cold weather here in canada.

good buy

cannot use for my property

Very satisfied with this invisible fence. Handy husband bought spool of longer wire so we could surround the whole property without splicing. The only challenge in burying it was crossing the ashphalt driveway. He cut a line, not too deep and ran the wire across then filled it with caulking. Can barely see the line. It is such a pleasure being able to work around the house or be in the hot tub with the puppy and not worrying where he is. He learned very fast using the suggested method on You tube. He learned in one day. May have had just three light shocks as he forgot a couple of times when people approached. Now he knows. the collar has an almost imperceptible beep that warns him. the flags help too as he will only go within a foot or two of the periphery. This was the best deal and we are extremely happy with the quality and function of the invisible fence. No need to spend thousands. Do not know how long the battery will last but will order more for back up.

Bought this for our two medium sized dogs for our backyard. Knowing both our dogs are new to being in a fence-free yard, we bought the stubborn version. One of the dogs also has some prey drive.

We followed all the instructions very carefully, moved an outlet to allow the box to be in a good location & moved appliances to be far from the box.

The wire is still totally inconsistent and our dogs are frequently running out without any beep or shock.
We wished that this would work so we would not need to impede the view from our yard, but this just isn’t going to work. There’s no point in having this because we can’t even let our dogs out anyway.

If your dog is even just a bit curious or shows a bit of prey drive, save your money. This fence is highly unlikely to work :(

I like this product it works well.
My dog runs free and stays within the area designated with the fencing
You have to watch for it to go on sale as it can be pricy to give your dog enough area to run free.
I had to add extra wiring to give my dog more room and that added to the expense.

Take the time to train dog. We have a bouvier and this is perfect for him to have lots of room to run. We tried cheaper brands, waste of money and time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Working great so far! Lower learning if you already have a fence.

We already had a backyard fence that our new husky-mix could jump, since she's spring-loaded and crafty. We tried everything and finally turned to this in desperation.
Installing it wasn't too bad, although none of the given "blue-prints" mentioned what layout to use if the fence is just your backyard and you use the backdoor to let them in and out. The easiest way we figured out was running the fence up the side of the house and above the backdoor so she didn't get shocked using the back door.
She already knew we didn't want her jumping the fence prior to installing this, and so we put the collar on her on the just the basic 'training' setting and she seemed to get it, but still willing to try to jump. So in frustration and impatience, I turned the collar up to the lowest shock setting and she VERY quickly figured out that she couldn't go within a foot or so of the fence. We haven't had any issues since.
We also had to extend the fence with some extra cord to include our new greenhouse that she broke into and dug up all the plants. That was pretty easy to do also, we just had to go buy some new grease caps and twist about 15 feet of cord together, but she's able to cross back and forth over the twisted part while staying away.
All in all, this is a wonderful product especially when she can see the physical fence and know that's the barrier and I wish we'd gotten it much sooner.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect for our under the fence digger

We adopted a dog who is an escape artists. She can dig herself under our cyclone fence in no time flat. This fence seemed to be our only reasonable solution. Our cyclose fence is 5 ft tall, so we threaded the wire through the bottom and the top of the fence to form the required loop. I have the collar set on 2, which is just enough for her. She is a sensitive girl, so I wouldn’t even think to set it to shock her. We’ve had it installed for 2 months and it’s working fine. Please be sure not to play fetch and throw the ball outside of boundary. I did that, unintentionally, and felt horrible. ☹️

3.0 out of 5 stars Dog ran too fast through the shock zone and it didn’t work.

This took a long time to install. The wire is thin and will bend and flex easily. Took a few hours to get in the ground. It was very difficult to set the shock zone. We tested it and finally got it. Our blue heeler darted through the shock zone so fast that it didn’t work. It only works if your dog is walking slowly through the zones and when it does start up, the dog goes back into the wired area and doesn’t get scared and dart out of the wired area. We took it out the next morning and sent it back. Our dog never used it other then when we tested it. I’d say this would work on a very large plot of land.

Update: After 7 years owning this system our giant schnauzer passed away and we got a new puppy (welsh terrier). So we now have a 9 year old mini schnauzer and a 1 year old welsh terrier and the fencing system still works great!! I had a collar finally quit working this year and had to purchase a new one but that’s to be expected after all these years and doggy wear and tear. I love having this fencing system as a dog owner. We never have to worry. We have a doggie door on our sunroom and even when we go away the dogs go in and out as they please and stay contained in the yard and do wonderfully. Living in a rural neighborhood we have a lot of wildlife and occasional dog walkers go by and my dogs never get out of their boundary. The welsh does have curly/thicker fur and we do keep his neck fur shaved shorter so that he can feel the shock. He’s very smart and somewhat stubborn so he will occasionally test it by getting as close to the boundary as he can. My older mini schnauzer who is more mild mannered steers VERY clear of the boundary so that he doesn’t risk getting a shock. It’s incredibly easy to teach the dogs the boundaries- every dog I’ve had has mastered it in a couple days of training.

Update: it’s been 4 years and it still works amazingly!! I have added other sections of wire over the years to block off new landscaping to keep the dogs from marking it or digging etc. It is still going great no problems at all. We love it! (In the second picture our black giant schnauzer wants to get our cat that’s lounging in the rose bushes but he knows he will get shocked so he doesn’t go any further.

Original Review:
Here is my situation ... I was using the petsafe WIRELESS fence system for almost 2 years with my two dogs (mini schnauzer and giant schnauzer) and it was working for them wonderfully. However, I began to realize it would be better if I could control more specific areas they were allowed to go in (that system just does a circle). For example, they were messing up my mulch in my flower bed and pooping right in my driveway where we park our cars (always nice when people would come over and have to dodge giant piles of doo) So I called petsafe and they assured me the shock levels would be the same as the wireless so I should not need a "stubborn dog" system. I was able to run approximately 850' of wire (I bought another 500' spool additional to the one that comes with this set) in a matter of a few hours really. I'm a 33 year old woman and I had my 12 year old son help. After laying it all out in our desired pattern, he used the shovel to just lift up small sections of the sod and I was on my hands and knees tucking it under. We did 200' one evening and the knocked the rest out in a couple hours the next afternoon. It was pretty easy depending on the type of soil. I would recommend mowing before installing (I did not and wished I would have). My dogs have picked up on their new boundaries very quickly and I'm very pleased so far. My friend warned me to make sure I get it all buried right away because breaks in the rope can happen very easily if just left out (kids trip over it, car, tractor, mower runs it over etc). With this system I was actually able to give my dogs more area to roam and section off areas I didn't want them in so it's a win-win situation. Plus this system (even with my extra spool and extra collar) was cheaper than the wireless one. Wish I would have done this in the first place.
