We've retained our landline and having been fed up of never being able to find the DECT remote handsets around the house, I opted for this "desk phone" for me, and a couple of DECT handsets for everyone else. Unpacking and assembly was a mass of small plastic bags, but everything went together well and the system was in and working in a few minutes.
Setup is simple and the screen on the base station is large and easy to read. The dial buttons are big, too. I opted not to use the answering service as we have one with our line provider, and I spent some time adding some of my contacts into the phone book. When I get a call, the audible message about who's calling uses the name I've entered rather than the one used in the caller ID, which I like.
The call block function is great, and I've used it a few times now. Don't bother reading the instructions, though, they make a simple system seem very complicated.
The overall build quality of the system is OK, and the sound quality is superior to my previous Panasonic system.
If you're looking to retain your landline then this is a good system to use. Not expensive, plenty of useful functions, and it works well on our VOIP fibre-optic line. Best of all I know where the phone is!
