Awesome weather protection
I'm completely satisfied with this product. I'm using these protective covers for my connections to my outdoor security cameras. The cameras' power connectors are actually USB-A, and so I needed something that could support using a USB block, and this "small" size fit the bill perfectly.Note: I didn't realize there were different size options available until I received this product. The cardboard box they are shipped in displays the 3 possible size choices. This particular product is their small size.Using these protective boxes is completely toolless and therefore easy to use. Just unsnap the 4 corner latches, and then open the large hatch and pull the halves open. I recommend you connect your cords first, and then insert and close up the box.I actually had purchased a similar product just over a year ago, and in comparing the two there are a couple subtle differences. 1. This product has a more securely designed rubber gasket around the openings at the ends where the cords enter the box, which also provides additional pressure on the cord to prevent it from moving. You want the cords to be secure so that the sockets don't disconnect internally if there is any pull on the cords, which would definitely be the case if the box is suspended. 2. The other product included an adjustable limiter that could be positioned behind the sockets to prevent the sockets from moving and possibly disconnecting while locked inside the box. Although in theory this should be a better solution, in practice it didn't always work well because it was difficult to adjust the limiters and sometimes they just wouldn't work depending on the type of sockets being used. 3. This product includes mounting holes in case you want/need to hang it somewhere using the included cable ties. This also serves as a security lock, making it more difficult for someone to open/tamper with it.With that said, I prefer this product as it is easier to use, theoretically more waterproof, and has mounting options. If you have any cords connected outdoors, I highly recommend this product.
