I've just recently purchased and received this item. Arrived quickly on delivery and packaged well.
Set up:
Setup is extremely simple. Just screw in bulb to desired light fixture. Plug in the included hub to a power supply and to an Ethernet connection. Download and Open the app. Sign up (or sign in if you already have a Hue account). Click setup/connect and press the big button on the hub and wait for updates to download if any. Then, setup your Hue device names, group them into rooms - as they are in your own home, and any actions you'd like to occur automatically such as turn off all lights as soon as you leave your home with your connected smartphone. You can even connect other connected smart home products from other companies/brands to interact with one another and perform other automatic actions.
Product:
As for the product itself, I was really surprised at how bright the Hue bulbs included in this starter kit can get. They get just as bright as regular (non-smart) light bulbs. They also produce a really nice warm glow. Bulbs and the hub are constructed really well. It doesn't look or feel cheap.
Performance:
I don't seem to find any lag time from when I turn off/on or dim the lights in any way from my smartphone. The app, hub and the bulbs themselves have a quick and instant response between one another from any actions I perform on the app or any other app from the "friends of Hue" (participating companies/brands smart home devices that can connect and interact with Hue).
I loved Hue and everything it can do and how it interacts with all of my other connected smart home devices (like my Google Home, Nest Security Cameras, Nest Thermostat, Nest Protect, Ring Doorbell Pro, etc.) that I purchased 25 more of just the Hue White A19 light bulbs themselves (which you can purchase on their own).
I really recommend this product (and others I've mentioned above) if your looking for a simple way to "smart" your home or just want the added convenience of making sure all your lights are off/on when ur not nearby ur home.
