Includes PPS Feature & Compact, But Fairly Slow When Both Ports Used At The Same Time
The small adapter comes with a user manual.This is a very compact dual port (1 x USB-C & 1 x USB-A) power adapter that can provide a peak power of 33W. It uses GaN (Gallium Nitride) which makes it smaller, more energy efficient and can provide more power.It has the latest PPS (Programmable Power Supply) feature on the adapter that works with compatible devices to determine the required voltage of the device and adjusts accordingly. From what I’ve read, it does it in smaller non-standard increments, so if the phone needs 6V for peak charging speeds, it can pull the full 6V vs dropping down to 5V per PD charging increment standards. From the box specs, PPS is capable of variable voltages from 3.3V to 11V @ 3A.Depending on the outlet you’re connecting to, it may or may not block an additional outlet. On my wall outlets everything is fine, but when connected to my power bar that have the outlets packed closer together, it did block the ground port on the outlet above. Using an ungrounded plug in that 2nd outlet would be find in this situation.Tested the power output of the adapter on a laptop and a couple mobile phones and below were the peak numbers I was able to get.- USB-C Only: 27W (Connected to a laptop using a 100W capable USB-C cable).- USB-A Only: 13.77W (USB-A to USB-C converter connected to the same 100W USB-C cable. I can confirm this is the only way to get the maximum power draw from a USB-A port as all my other cables are limited).- USB-C + USB-A: 7W + 5.47W (Using the 100W USB-C cable & the same USB-A to USB-C adapter on a 60W capable USB-C cable on a couple mobile phones capable of drawing a max of 13W to 25W)Based on the specs, it’s slightly under the peak of 33W by 6W when only USB-C is used. The major issue is with the USB-A listing a peak of 30W but only being able to hit a max of 13.77W. With both ports in use at the same time was again short approx. 5-6W.Overall, the adapter would be good to fast charge your current mobile phone/device allowing approx. 27W of peak power, but that’s only if you charge only one device via the USB-C port. If you charge using the USB-A port, it misses the peak power by over 50%. If you use both USB-C & USB-A ports at the same time, it peaks out at only 12.47W total with only 7W going to the USB-C port. It’s good for a single device, but not so good for multiple devices if you want to quickly charge your devices. It may be good to have as it’s fairly compact, but I’d look elsewhere for something more powerful and capable of charging multiple devices at faster speeds.
