How to activate your SIM card:

  • Insert your SIM card in your device when you get in Europe and it will automatically connect to the best local network

 Tips:
  • make sure data roaming is activated on your phone
  • make sure your phone is unlocked
  • only insert your SIM in your device when you get in Europe in order to avoid activating your credit before the beginning of your trip
  • APN should charge automatically on your device. If not enter it manually, username: orange, password: orange

Phone number:
  • The SIM comes with a French phone number
  • The phone number is written on the first inner page of the booklet so that you can share it with friends and family before leaving

Registration:
  • You will need to register your SIM to keep using it for more than 30 days after 1st use
  • Registration on topup.orange.com

Tips:
  • Registration doesn't activate your SIM card
  • You don't need to register if you don't want to use the SIM after the first 30 days
  • You will keep receiving texts about registration for a few days even though you registered already. Time for our teams to receive and validate your registration

I just came to Italy today May 12. The sim connected but it doesn't work coz it is expired as you see in the text i received... It is only valid until May 2! I bought this on Amazon on ly a few days ago. This review will stay until i get a refund... So frustrating that this happened as i relied on this for navigating the city.

I used this eSIM for almost a month in April/May 2024. It worked great while I travelled through England, Scotland, Spain and Portugal. But, you must make sure that your phone supports eSims before you buy this.

Setup is easy and can be done at home the day before you leave. Then as soon as you land in Europe, you can disable your North American eSIM and turn on this one. Mine connected immediately and gave me my temporary French phone number. I was able text from that number to my Uk friends and relatives with no problem. Texting outside of Europe is not allowed as far as I could tell. We used WhatsApp to keep in touch with our Canadian relatives while in Europe. iMessage worked for the family members with iPads and iPhones. We bought the 50gb version and had lots of data to do everything we needed. The 5G connection worked everywhere we went and was as fast as you would expect.

The best part of the eSIM was that all my Apps worked exactly the same in Europe as they do at home in Canada when I am connected to Telus. One caution is that you may not be able to use your banking Apps if you rely on two factor authentication through a text message to your regular phone number. You will not be able to receive text messages to your normal phone number if you’re only connected to this eSIM. So, you might need to change your two factor authentication method to either an email or an authenticator App like Google Authenticator. Or, you could turn on Telus roaming for one day and pay $15 to get your banking done.

I loved this e-sim card, once I got it working. It worked flawlessly through 6 european countries. Basically it was a lifesaver. Installation was easy but my only issue was at the beginning I had one of my data roaming settings wrong. I did have internet at the time in the evenings and when I went to access tech support I explained my situation and got a quick computer generated reply saying they would get back to me within 24 hours. When they did contact me they did not offer a suggestion, like is your data roaming on or off, no they wanted to know all of the technical data associated with the card, like the Serial number and Sim card number and phone numberwhich I did not have at my disposal. I evenluually figured it our on my own as I didn't have days to back and forth with them. So basically they have a great product and sloppy tech support.

Do not buy this card if you wish good Internet service in Italy! We had previously ordered this orange card for a trip to France and the service was excellent. We ordered it for our trip to Italy, knowing that this was not the primary Internet provider and that we would replace it after the two week coverage. however, we found this card to be so spotty that it was utterly useless and in the event of emergency would’ve put us in a very bad place. We had to immediately replace the $65 (not cheap for 2 weeks)card with an Italian internet service which worked great. The card advertises that it can be used all over Europe, and technically, that is correct that it does work, but so badly that it is virtually unusable! Check the countries, Internet service provider for best results. Would not buy this card again unless I was traveling to France or anywhere else that orange was a primary provider.

After landed on Athens, Greece and used SIM card. It looked that phone was activated and gave a phone number, however it didn’t work. After carefully read the booklet, I restarted my phone, it gave a new phone number again, this time it was really activated and in a local mobile network. You don’t need to register for 2 weeks. It is pricey but convenient.

I used this ESIM card for a trip in Portugal.
It worked well almost all the time but not all the time! I have an IPhone 14 Pro. Sometimes, for absolutely no reason, despite the fact that my phone was showing I was on a network (5G or LTE) I could not connect to the internet. The only way to make it work again was to turn off the phone and reopening it. IMPORTANT. When you do that, the IPhone will ask you the PIN of the ESIM so don’t forget it!! In my case the pin was 0000…. Was kind of hard to forget! Other than that I was working well. My girlfriend has an IPhone 13 and had no issue.

I purchased this product before I left for France, thinking it would save time and stress. It was simple to install and began to work immediately. after I arrived However, before the end of my first day, the phone shut down for several hours to complete a "system update" and would not turn back on,, leaving us without access to much needed information.

When the update was finally completed, I was able to restart my phone, but I was unable to send or receive any text messages from any of my contacts for the remainder of my trip. I tried all the troubleshooting suggestions on the Orange website and manual but nothing solved this issue.

Thankfully the mobile data worked fine and I was able to make phone calls to North America. However, I was relying on being able to text my family during my time away. This caused a great deal of undue stress. In future, I will wait to purchase a SIM card from the carrier after arraving in Europe.

This review is for the 12GB physical SIM card used in an older unlocked, dual SIM, 4G-only phone. The reviews for this card are all over the place, but I took a chance and bought one for a trip to Germany. Surprise, it worked right out of the package with nothing else required on my part. Another big surprise was that I discovered my phone is actually capable of Wi-Fi calling because the option magically appeared in my SIM management menus. I later learned that my phone is "only partially compatible" with my current provider in the US and doesn't allow for Wi-Fi calling. Go figure; took me 4 years to figure that out. 12GB is actually a lot of mobile data; I doubt I even used half of that in two weeks. Speeds were fine when the signal was good. The quirks and annoyances referenced in the title are the following: I was suprised to see the signal connecting to all 3 of the big carriers in Germany (Telekom, Vodaphone, O2) and it jumped around constantly to I guess whichever tower had the strongest signal. You will get a lot of calls from France; some to remind you to register the card (not needed if less than 14 days) and others just garbage from a recycled phone number. You have to dial correctly since you are roaming with a French phone number; basically dialing international long distance wherever you're calling. Also, no MMS is allowed. I know everyone uses apps, but I'm a geezer and like attaching a photo to a short message. For me at least, then, the card worked out great and saved me a ridiculous amount in roaming fees.

Thsi didnt really work most of the time. It worked when we arrived in the UK though it was a french number. YOu hace to register it within two weeks of when you switch it on which requires a copy of your ID to be uploaded so that was also quite tricky. This meant it ran out and didnt owrk for 2 days at all . Once it was registered we thought it was sorted but it mainly didnt work espeically ironcially when we went to france. We bought it mainlyto use for GPS and it failed miserably at this leaving us lost many times with no signal. It would have been better not to have had it and got global roaming with our provider in austalia because at lease it woudl have worked
