This online buy was delivered quickly. I setup my profile in Canada before I left for Europe following the enclosed instructions . Upon arrival in Germany I inserted the card and it registered immediately. I found the internet speeds acceptable thru out Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Italy and Greece plus the Greek Islands ... only glitchy spot was Bar Montenegro. ( Montenegro could still be on dialup ) Being able to call Canada was an unexpected bonus ( dial 001 then area code then the local # ). After 2 weeks of constant use I used only 5G ( no gaming or Youtube to save data but lots of Instagrams sent ) while also tethering in my wife's Samsung Tab.... then we easily topped up another 5G for the remainder of our 3 week vacation. I would buy again and recommend to other travelers as reliable and user friendly .. just follow the excellent instructions provided.

COULD NOT CONNECT TO DATA only phone and text worked during my stay in Greece. I must have called Orange at least 10 times in France and they were absolutely hopeless with any tech support. In the end, I was told by one of the agents that pre-paid cards are not supported through their call centre - GREAT - thanks for nothing. I gave up in frustration and went to a local "Public" (phone store) who set me up with a new SIM card from Wind with 12 GB for 30-days for only 12 Euros (I have an unlocked dual SIM phone). The Wind SIM data card worked perfectly. Although I kept the Orange SIM card for voice and text, it was an overall disappointing and expensive experience. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. You'll generally do better walking into a local phone store and walking out with voice/text/data that actually work - it will cost less and won't be as frustrating.

It costs half the price as my carrier roaming fees and my kids loved streaming off my phone for their iPads. it had a perfect amount of data for my kids streaming YouTube. I had no issues with coverage, cellular calling or texting. You can register it if you are going to use it again in 6 months. No issues in Spain and France. I was happy to have it so I could swap out SIM cards in the plane. And didn’t have to look for a shop to buy it at Paris airport.

Bring your FrEnglish dictionaries with you when you buy this, as it is provided by a Parisian company all of the texts and alerts you receive are in French. I used this for a trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland and my data worked perfectly throughout, without ever having to register or provide my information. This had more data then I knew what to do with, and it is much better then any of the deals you will get in the airport or locally. (depending on where you go, of course!)

I was on a trip with 29 other people and I was one of the only ones who had purchased a specific travel sim, and they all ended up wishing they had done what I had as their companies charged them a lot for roaming or the local shops sold less data for more money. It was also comforting to touch down in Dublin Airport with service on the plane to help navigate my way to my hotel.

Note that while you're tethering, you may not be able to use your data on your phone. This wasn't every time I tethered, but I noticed that more often then not when I put on my hotspot for other people or my laptop, I wasn't able to use my data on my phone.

I recommend everyone buy this SIM card before heading to Europe. Yes you can buy a SIM card when you land but then you would have to go through the difficulty of looking for where to buy it (when I landed in Paris I couldn’t find any stores in the airport selling them) and asking for it from someone who speaks a different language (and since you have no data yet what translate app are you going to use?). 20 Gb is a lot and I used my data constantly for the 3 weeks I was in Europe and only ended up using maybe 12 Gb (I used social media, watched some YouTube videos, and even downloaded some Netflix movies).
Tip for IPhone users: turn your data roaming on just immediately before you place this SIM in. I had it on Off (obviously because I don’t want roaming data charges on my home SIM) but when I placed this SIM in it wouldn’t work because it kept looking for WiFi only (which was not available). So turn your data roaming on only just before you take out your SIM and put this SIM in.
Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the SIM data only works for 14 days from activation. I only used up about 6 Gb by the 14th day but was forced to top up just so I can keep it activated for the rest of my trip beyond 14 days.

After a few hiccups, the SIM worked great, I had adequate 3G service while traveling abroad. I made more than several international calls, texts and emails, but mostly used it for Web based services like WhatsApp as well as Google Maps. While in Ireland I visited Dublin, Belfast, Bushmills (Giant's Causeway), Donegal, Galway, and Shannon, I had decent service in all locations. While in England I visited London and also made a trip to a remote area of Devon, and again had no issues with service. The SIM seamlessly connect to different network providers as I hopped around Ireland via car. I barely put a dent in the 10GB of data and I used it a ton to search, download and used the GPS via Google maps for hours on end.

The Hiccup: I learned that the SIM actually activated when I hastily put it in my spare iPhone while I was in the states 12 days before my departure, so when I was in Dublin on day 2, the SIM expired and I had to top-up for 25 Euro. A little frustrating given that Orange USA said it should not activate until it is used in Europe. Orange USA did acknowledge the problem I encountered and offered me a refund for my troubles. So just beware that this could happen to you. It is stated numerous times by many folks in the Q&A that the SIM will not activate until you text or call while abroad, this is clearly false, so I suggest that you avoid putting the SIM in your phone until you arrive in the country that you intend to start using it. My phone was on WiFi when I inserted the SIM and I assume this is how it activated, but I cannot be certain; although, I do know that I did not try to call, text or email from the phone.

Also, a few tidbits here to save you from other unforeseen trouble: 1.) If you are installing the SIM in a spare iPhone like I did, be sure to install all your apps that you will need and update your new French SIM phone number within the apps such as Uber, Lyft and any other apps that may need to communicate with you either by text or a phone call...I learned that the hard way...remember many apps use two-factor authentication and may need to be able to text you a code for access, they can't do this if they don't have your number! 2.) If you are not familiar with it, dialing and texting international phone numbers, can be a daunting task, I suggest downloading a tutorial on how to dial international phone numbers as well as a list of country codes for mobile and local #s. 3) Using apps like WhatsApp makes communicating with others much easier.

This worked as expected with no issues - I rarely had to think about it once it was set-up. I did the set-up and registration before I left home so all I had to do was insert the sim once I landed in Europe. I bought this for a trip to Europe. The chip uses Orange network which has superior coverage for most of Europe. I did not activate the chip until I got to Europe as I did not want to bother with registering the chip. (Once you activate it then you only get two weeks of usage unless you plan to register the chip). Insertion and activation was easy and hassle free. For me, it worked in Denmark and Sweden and Spain. No problems anywhere. It automatically would change to the local country network and send me a text stating it was working whenever we changed places. It might be cheaper to buy a chip when you get there but it will NOT be activated for a few days after clearing security. This does not require any proof of identity for short term use. I would definitely purchase this again if I return to Europe. It works out of France so you get a French phone number. And if you need support then you have to call France. I never needed any support, so for me it was not an issue. The best way to make calls in Europe is to use Whatsapp anyway. And this has plenty of Gigabytes of data.
