6 heatpipe dual-tower designAs compared to conventional single tower heatsinks, the NH-D15’s fine-tuned six heatpipe dual-tower design provides more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency in dual-fan mode. |
Dual NF-A15 140mm fansThe NH-D15 features two of Noctua's premium-class NF-A15 140mm fans. Complying with Noctua's AAO standard and featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 has quickly built up a reputation as one of the best 140mm fans on the market. |
High RAM compatibility in single fan modeThanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15 provides 64mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks in single fan mode, making it compatible with most high-end RAM modules on the market. In dual-fan mode, the NH-D15 should be used with standard-height RAM (up to 32mm). *In chassis with more than 165mm CPU cooler clearance, the front fan can be moved upwards to make room for memory modules taller than 32mm. |
Colour-customisableUsing the optional NA-HC3 and NA-HC4 heatsink covers as well as the NA-SAVP3 anti-vibration pads (available in black, blue, green, red, yellow, white), the NH-D15 chromax.black can be fully customised to fit popular build colour schemes such as black and red or black and white. |

I am using this behemoth for an ITX build, and I expected a lot more complications than I actually encountered. The mounting system is easy to set up, making the cooler itself a breeze to mount and dismount. The only real difficulty I ran into was installing the CPU fans. You need to be able to get your hands around the cooler in order to clip the fan brackets on, which is impossible for me because of the case I am using.
In terms of compatibility, the NH-D15 is *technically* compatible with my NZXT H210, but to accommodate the cooler in my case, I have to outright remove the exhaust fans or switch from regular-thickness 120mm fans to the slimmer versions. I do have to say, I've seen photos of my case housing a Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler (Be Quiet!) and they managed to keep the stock case fans.
All in all, I'm happy with the cooler. Any issues I encountered, I brought on my self by stuffing such a huge heatsink into such a tiny case. The NH-D15 Chromax is an expensive cooler, but that is in line with the competition. Build quality is top notch, performance is excellent. Spend the money, you can't go wrong. Just make sure you look at compatibility lists, because I can see this not fitting some applications.
For the most part my CPU temps while gaming stay under 40°C, and I believe it stayed under 60°C during a Heaven Benchmark (on ultra 1920x1080p)
A few things to watch for would be the maximum CPU cooler height on your case. This thing is big so be sure to double check it will fit in your case (in the picture I'm using a fractal design meshify c). The other thing to look out for is ram clearance. If you want to use both fans on the NH D-15 make sure you have low profile ram (I used 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 RAM and it has a couple millimetres of clearance, enough for airflow and nothing is touching). If you want to get high profile ram (taller ram sticks) then you will have to use only the one fan in the middle (same as the NH D-15s model). There is a little bit of play with the fan height, but that again comes down to case size. I was still able to put the VRM fan on my Asus STRIX e-gaming Z490 motherboard with no problem, though I'm not needing to use it (and yes this cooler works with intel's 10th Gen CPU's, I am using the 10700k in this build, check Noctua's website for further comparability queries).
The product also comes with a y splutter for the two fans in case you only have one CPU fan header on your motherboard (mine has 2) which is nice. On top of that there is the option of using the "quiet cable" that is supposed to reduce the noise of the fans further, but also reduces a bit of cooling. I personally haven't used this feature and haven't had any problems with the noise at all.
Overall a great product that will get the job done for great air cooling if it fits in the case you are using. It also comes with a neat little Noctua stick on badge to put on your build after if desired. Despite being expensive sometimes ($181.81 CAD when I bought it) the black is nice and the cooler is definitely worth it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality high end cooler.
P.S. I believe the picture is posted sideways

This was for my first custom build.
My computer case is a Corsair 5000D RGB Airflow.
This cooler was for my AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU.
I got the cooler with 2 fans (best option).
It fit perfectly for the CPU and case. It was not a tight fit, but it was a large fit. The cooler is rather bulky in size, but not overly so. It fit on the motherboard and over the RAM sticks just fine.
I have been using my computer many hours in a day for several months now, and this cooler does an excellent job cooling the CPU. Average temperature so far is from 36-45 degrees centigrade (depending on the work load).
The CPU fans are really quiet.
I also have other cooling fans in the Corsair case, so all of that contributes to the good temperatures.
Support service for this Noctua Cooler is very good.
I had questions and concerns they answered promptly.
The product was delivered in a regular time.
No damage to the box.
Product is brand new, undamaged.
This product is worth the purchase and performs very well.
What I liked the most about making the purchase was the manufacturer was the seller, which is a huge plus.
Note: Strongly suggest to buy some extra good quality thermal paste (8-12 gm size). What you get with this product is not enough if you have to redo the install because of unforeseen hiccups.

Genuinely never even considered air cooler in the past, but my AIO was getting old and even with fresh thermal paste my cpu temps were pushing 80s under heavy load (i7 9700k). Worried about my pump failing, and wanting to rebuild my pc anyway, I started looking for new a new AIO. After looking endlessly and scratching my head on which was the best to buy, I noticed someone mention this cooler. Air cooling? Isn't that relevant for like... pentium level processors? Jokes aside, I genuinely didn't think air cooling could cut it. Boy was I wrong.
Mine refuses to go above 64c under heavy load, usually hovering right around 60c. I think the only way it would is if the fans were set very low or off entirely. Max spikes will hit <75c but it's so quick and rare that I disregard it. It does hit the 60c threshold rather quickly (seconds after applying heavy load) with either a modest or aggressive fan curve, but once it's there it holds it even hours under a stress test. Under moderate load I see low to mid 50s.
It's also QUIET. Even without low noise adapter and fan curve at 70%, this cooler makes most AIO setups sound like jet engines. I was going for a low noise setup and this cooler has been the perfect addition for that. I see people talking about adding the LNA but I really don't feel like it even needs it.
If that's not enough, just remember that there's no pump failure. No having to desperately wait for a new AIO to arrive or shovel out another $100 for a cooler. This cooler can run perfectly fine on a single fan, so even if one goes out, or even if it's just for less noise, there won't be a huge difference on cooling.
Lastly, I really do think this cooler looks so good in a case, especially one with minimal RGB like mine. Just enough to show its colossal shadow but not enough to light it up entirely. At first I really didn't care for the look but I decided to give it a try just for the cooling (and I didn't plan on having any rgb on at all originally) but once it's in the case it really does look good. The only thing I don't like is the spikes on the ends of the heatsinks. I do hope to cover those, eventually.
While going for a low noise, minimal rgb build, this cooler is a big part of why I adore my pc.
Some notes:
When mounting the heatsink, use a single swift downward motion, lining up the screws, then alternate screwing them in. Moving the heatsink around could add a bunch of air to your thermal paste and degrade cooling quality. Make sure the screws are tight too. Don't try to tighten them farther than they're willing to go, but, make sure they are fully screwed in. When first installing I was trying to get one screw in at a time but it wasn't working and it kept messing up the thermal paste. One motion. Straight down.
NT-H2 thermal paste will cool a few degrees more than the provided NT-H1. Both are good, though.
The fans are easier to add or remove than they appear. Don't be dumb like me and try to pull off the wire clips without moving the fan. Initially installing them was a pain, because I was trying to do it by applying pressure on the wire only. Dont do this. To mount a fan, before putting it against the heatsink, push one side of the wire clips as far as it will go in the direction it's going to mount (the direction the fan will blow). Then hook it onto to heatsink where you want it. Now, pull the fan in the opposite direction of the currently mounted clip. The unmounted clip should extend past the heatsink where it's going to hook into. Now do the same as the other side, push the wire foward, hook it on, pull the fan to be center. Allow the fan to do all the work (you might have to push on one of the wires a little bit to get it to fully seat, but it shouldn't be much).
This thing is BIG, it barely fits above RAM and will likely not work with a vertical GPU.
That's about it, I really don't have anything negative to say. Happy I decided to try it, much happier than I would be with an AIO.
If you took the time to read this, thank you, and I hope I helped in some way.
