Product description
Reach farther. Do more. A telephoto lens gives you more than just zoom power. Telephoto lenses are great for portraits—they render faces naturally without distortion. They make your subject stand out against a soft, blurry background. They let you fill the frame with interesting compositions. And, yes, they also let you get closer to the action—wildlife, sports, concerts, events and more. The NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4. 5-6. 3 VR delivers compact, lightweight telephoto capabilities for Z series cameras. Fast, accurate and nearly silent, it's equally adept at videos and stills. As a second lens alongside the NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3. 5-6. 3 VR, you can cover just about any shooting situation.

Powerful Image Stabilization
At telephoto distances, the smallest camera movements can blur a photo. Video is even less forgiving—we're all familiar with shaky smartphone videos. The NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR has the most effective Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization system of any NIKKOR yet, up to 5 stops*! Your videos will be rock-steady, and your telephoto photos will be sharp and clear.
*As of October 10, 2019. Based on CIPA Standard: this value is achieved when attached to a DX-format camera with the camera’s VR function set to “NORMAL”, and when zoom is set to the maximum telephoto position.

Professional-Looking Videos
Telephoto lenses are the best way to get cinematic close-ups and shallow depth of field in your videos. Like high-end cinema lenses, the NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR is designed to suppress focus breathing—a common occurrence with smartphones that makes videos look amateurish. And both its focusing ring and control ring are virtually silent, so you won't hear any camera noises during recording.

Precision AutofocusThe NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR uses a blazing fast, nearly silent stepping motor for autofocusing, and it performs brilliantly with Z series' Eye AF to keep focus right where you want it. |
High ContrastAn Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass lens element reduces color defects and glare for sharper, clearer images with outstanding contrast. |
Customized ControlAssign your favorite function to the control ring—aperture control (great for iris transitions during video recording), ISO adjustments, exposure compensation or manual focus. |

As an unexpected benefit, both Nikkor Z lenses take wonderful indoor pictures without a flash.
This lens works exceptionally well for video as it allows you to adjust your aperture easily while shooting.
The negative of this lens is the plastic build quality. This shouldn't be much of an issue if you're careful with your gear. At this price point, it's hard to complain about build quality complain.
This is the perfect telephoto lens for a beginner photographer, it won't match the sharpness and resolution of pro lenses, but it's a perfect entry lens

Don't hesitate if you need to do trekking and to film some things with your FX camera . Just remember that crop mode low megapixels modes doesn't affect videos like it would for photos ... at least if you film regular 4k videos. It's well explained in a lot of youtube videos why DX lens is still a good thing for video on new Nikon cameras.
The stabilisation is nice , pretty nice for photo and could be a bit more precise for video but for a near 500$ brand new lens , sincerely , I didn't expect a 1300 $ lens stabilisation system. It's well enough for photos and not bad for videos if you configure correctly in function of the needs . You'll have more post-production to do if you do tripod work because this kind of stabilisations are not ideal for tripod. Lens at 1300$ have stabilisation systems that talk to the camera sensor stabilisation system and work better together according to what I've read so for the price , it's good.
You got nothig to loose at that price if you are a video trekker and try to make your rig more lightweight at a minimum of quality lost . Use a CPL on it , a good CPL and it can create really professionnal videos in 10 bits.
Just remember it is not a weather proof lens so you got to take care about moisture a bit more and just don't put alcohool or a lot of water on it . Buy a carbon pen and use this coupled with a little sweet brush to remove the residues . In times of very wet condition like in a forest in the summer , use a cleaning tissue but if you do , don't use the air propulser you may have to remove what remains . It could put water or liquid inside the front lens and it's a pain removing it . If you treat this lens like it should , it will do nice. Just don't go to Niagara Falls where there is plenty of water particles in the air to take your shot and watch sometimes if the lens has moisture on it.
Have Fun

One annoyance I have is that the LH-90A lens-hood is not supplied with the lens. JJC makes a LH-90A lens-hood of very good quality and it's half the price of Nikon's version.
