After the first year, despite purchasing expensive sleep wear from the Nanit company, they turn off the free subscription and force you to pay $150USD to continue monitoring your babies breathing. The very thing you paid for a $500 monitor for is now useless unless you give them even more money. Now the $500 monitor and the $500 in accessories and clothing I purchased are useless.
This is a scam. Do not buy.
2 stars for it working OK for the first year only.

Shame on you Nanit for bilking cash out of people who are just trying to keep their babies alive.

Be mindful that they only include 1year of there basic "insight" which is all the features they claim to have. Once the 1 year is done it does nothing its just a camera. Unless you pay $100 for basic features or $250 for advanced features per year.

We bought your over priced camera, sheets, sleep sacks and you still need to squeeze put more money in a subscription model absolute corporation greed

I rarely write reviews but as a mother I felt I need to share my experience with this monitor. My baby just recently started sleeping in his own room. The second night I woke up to no sound from the monitor. The app glitched at shut down during the night. My baby was left unattended. I woke up sick to my stomach. This is so dangerous, if something had happened, I wouldn’t have known. My friend has had the same experience with the nanit pro. I have still used it for naps when I am awake to monitor it, and it glitches more often than you would believe. In addition to this it makes your phone overheat and drains your battery, which I could overlook if it protected my baby, but it doesn’t. This product is a safety hazard.

I reached out to customer care and they said my modem was too far from the nanit. I find that hard to believe because it is quite close and on the same floor of the house. If this is the case, it would only work in a studio apartment. So disappointed. I hope this review saves you the money.

I got this because I bought one secondhand and really liked some of the features. We’re about to have our second and I loved the combination of breathing wear tracking for our newborn, and the split screen feature for using two cameras at once.
The problem is, this monitor is extremely unreliable. Tested breathing wear on my oldest (7-8m at the time) and it DID NOT ALARM as it’s supposed to. I woke up the next morning to a notification on my phone saying “breathing motion not detected” but the alarm on the system itself never went off—the whole set up was IN the room with me. Luckily my bub was fine. Now, having just bought this Pro, the breathing wear stuff is included, but you have to pay for a membership to even use it? Which is an additional $100? No thanks.

On top of that, I’ve heard several people say their Nanit monitors have been hacked, AND the notifications don’t always seem to work even just for movement and sound in the crib. I tend to keep the monitor screen open on my device, thank goodness, but if you’re hoping to use this monitor while doing something else on your phone, or hoping for those notifications on your phone/Apple Watch/etc for when you aren’t looking at the screen, don’t count on it. Half the time I hear my son babbling from the other end of the house well before I get anything from the Nanit saying he’s awake. We’re talking he’s standing up in the crib shouting and giggling and Nanit is doing nothing. Extremely disappointed and honestly wishing I could’ve just added a second camera to my $30 VTech system because this thing is NOT worth the money. The camera quality and wireless features are nice and all, but for all of the other features that are supposed to be unique to Nanit to not work? It really isn’t worth it.
Updated to add: the connectivity issues are RIDICULOUS and I’m so sick of this monitor. We keep having issues with the camera staying connected, and then we aren’t even getting any video. And I basically NEVER get the motion/sound notifications before my baby is already fully awake, standing, shouting, and getting frustrated. Not worth it AT ALL and wish I’d never bought it.

I bought their original version years back, then got a second one (which was their second version) I now have this newest one. The upgrades are absolutely amazing. One thing I didn’t like about the first two we had was the stand on the base. It was a weird triangular shape which prevented us from putting the crib all the way up against the wall. It also had the syncing light on the top and was hard to see when having to reset WiFi

This one has a nice, flat base that’s way more sturdy and lower profile. The set up light is a nice blue light on the front. The breathing band is a great addition, although we’re not able to use that currently with the snoo. I love having the temp and humidity alerts. The nursery can vary greatly in temp from the rest of the house so it’s nice to know if we need to add more layers or take some away. I love the constant recording (we didn’t have that previously). It’s super accurate in tracking sounds and motions. We’ve had less connectivity issues as well.

All around an amazing monitor that I’ve recommended to many new moms.
