I'd been looking for a good quality, affordable speaker switch for years, when I saw this one reviewed by Amir at ASR. The switch is absolutely transparent (unlike some others, surprisingly) and is very well made.
I don't care about the VU meters, so I was pleased that it works in passive mode, and I can just switch it on when I want to run my secondary speakers: easy integration of stereo and a/v systems.
My only quibble is that the binding posts are a bit tight for some banana plugs, but I guess that's better than being too loose.
Good job, Neohipo, hope to see more from you.

I have used a mechanical amp switcher to use my floor standers in either 2.0 or 5.1. It works, but it is ugly and I have to place it behind my equipment. This one is much better; it comes with a remote or a single push button to make the switch. Plus those big, beautiful meters! Eye candy? Sure, but much better than "ugly."

And ASR testing indicates there is no SQ additions or subtractions from the original signal. So, this device can be displayed up front! A good price for a good solution and a great toy!

So - the "VU Meters" are mostly for show... but here's my take on them - coming from a semi-pro AV perspective. I ran sound at church for years - and you can apply the same concepts here. Once installed, pick the loudest song you would typically listen to and play it at the loudest volume you would typically listen to.. then adjust the meter settings so that they swing through their full range... Adjust so that the loudest passages are at "0" and just dipping a bit into the red zone.. verify the swing and sensitivty still captures the quietest passages as well... it takes a little bit of tweaking, but that will give you a visual "readout" of your room volume levels. Again - its not a super accurate tool, but this gives you a bit of a reference v.s. just random settings.

The only negative I can point out is the display color settings don't have much in the way of "blue"... best I can get is a green / teal... so no "fake Macintosh" meters.. lol.

This is an outstanding product, brilliant VU meters which have 34 colours and 5 levels of brightness. The meters are adjustable for swing and sensitivity and there is a built in microphone if you do not want to connect an amp.
There are multiple connections for 2 amps and 2 sets of speakers and a remote control to boot. All this for a very good price. An excellent product.

The Box is well-built and easy to use, it does select between audio speakers and amps spontaneously with no drop in sound quality or delay. The meter reads accurately matching the equipment reader loaded with a variety of colors to choose from. The remote is easy to read however it is not built with quality plastic and it has a cheap feel and look.
