I took a chance on this DVD player and I am glad I did. I have a lot of region 2/PAL DVDs and some that have content that is quite old ie: BBC dramas of Dickens mini series. They play perfectly and are up converted to a much superior picture. The DVD player has a superb memory. I can stop a DVD at any point and turn off the player and unplug it, when I turn it back on it re-starts from exactly where I stopped. That I find impressive! It is small and light as is the remote but that seems to be how things are now with the improvement in technology to make things smaller and more simple. I am a technophobe and I got my new DVD player out of the box and working in under 10 minutes. You just plug it in, run the HDMI and that is it. I am really happy with this region free DVD which has allowed me to continue enjoying my old classics from England as well as my region 1 DVDs.

I received my LG Blu-ray/DVD player quickly and in perfect condition. It is quite small and takes little space on the shelf. It was easy to connect to my TV. The device and the hand held controller are easy to use. I have played several DVD's and Blu-rays, some with the North American region code and some with the England code and they all played successfully. For DVD's, you just load the disk into the machine and the machine determines what region it is and plays it. For Blu-rays, you have enter the region code on the controller when loading. This is clearly explained in the
instructions that come with the machine so keep the instructions. Entering the Blu-ray code is easy to do. The TV picture quality from the machine is excellent.

I did not test the player for playing zone b blu ray discs until today. In Feb. 2022 when I bought the player, I only tested playing dvds of regions 1, 2 and 3. The player automatically plays dvds of these regions. I did not test the blu ray discs until today and was shocked to receive a message, saying my disc only plays in region b player. I bought this region-free and zone-free player directly from Amazon, not from third party sellers. But it is too late now to return the player to Amazon for a refund. Be sure to test the player. Don't take it for granted that it will play zones A, B and C blu ray discs.

I've given 4 stars instead of 5 because I was desapointed in the quality of the remote control. The remote is small, lightweight and feels really cheap for the price. One could have expected to at least have light-up buttons. Would have been convenient when watching movies in a dark room.
Otherwise excellent and easy to use Bluray player. User friendly interface, picture quality is excellenent and I had no problem at all in watching internationnal PAL/NTSC DVD's and/or any zone Bluray discs. Also note that there is only one HDMI output. (No opticals). But that was not an issue for me. Note that the Wi-Fi features works well, but I did not left the player connected. I use my TV for Internat apps and browsing. I only use the player for, well, playing movies ! ;-)

My old Samsung player is part of the endless boot-looping error so it was time to get a new one. I chose this player because of it's ability to play region-free discs. The player itself is fine. It was easy to set up and connect to the wifi and has been able to play my import discs. Being in Canada, it only had Netflix, YouTube and something called the Karaoke Channel preloaded. Streaming Netflix and YT was fine. The machine isn't noisy and it's quick to boot up. But the biggest disappointment is the remote. It's terrible! Not only is it tiny, but I wasn't able to get it to work most of the time. I changed batteries, tried pressing buttons slower, with differing strengths of pressure and whatever I could think of. The only way I got it to work was if it was one foot in front of the player. And unfortunately, the remote is needed for most of the player functions. Luckily, LG had a compatible app that allowed me to use my phone as a remote. That was the only thing that saved me from sending it back. So, because of the remote I can only give it a reluctant 3 stars.

I purchased a new but different (cheaper) brand of DVD player and found that it would not play .avi files on DVD or from USB. I then bought this model and, just as its predecessor did, it plays the .avi files. I guess you get what you pay for. This DVD player is quite a bit more expensive than many but it is well worth the price.
