Wasn’t expecting much for the price. One star is because magnification listed on product is a blatant lie. This is 10x at best. If this product were advertised properly it would be an easy product to recommend. Optics are not great, but are decent enough for the price. If the a product description was honest I would have rated higher.

40x60? Self-respecting glass is sold by Magnification X Field of View, 10x40, 8x50, etc, it’s the established standard that allows quick recognition and easy comparison. This monocular was not practical for more that 3 or 4 seconds when handheld at a cultural event and the depth of field is shallow, so I was twisting the top knob a lot to keep objects in focus. There are two other adjustment rings whose usefulness is not clear, a « macro » knob whose range overlaps the top knob, and an « eyeglasses » knob that was unhelpful to the eyeglass wearer I am. The smartphone adapter is spring loaded and finicky, it needs a redesign. And it does not work in landscape mode. All in all I do not recommend this monocular, even though the build is solid and the view is clear. I needed it mostly for conferences using the smartphone adapter, and this function needs to be improved.

I got this monocular to attach to my cellphone to take closeups of distant objects. Until I got this item, I was using my 12 x 42 binoculars to take pictures. When I attached the monocular to my cellphone, I found I was getting the same magnification as my binoculars. So, I'm not sure if this is actually 40 x 60 (which should give 40x magnification) or if it's the same as my 12 x 42 binoculars. As a test, I looked at the same object through the monocular in one eye and one side of the binoculars in the other eye and got the same sized image in both eyes.

The other issue I had was that the cellphone attachment hangs from the eyepiece. If one has a cellphone that's even a little heavy, it tends to then pull the phone away from the eyepiece and you don't get as good of an image as you'd expect. The tripod supports the monocular which is expected as it's heavy. However, if you want the cellphone's camera lens to sit flush against the monocular's eyepiece, you need to attach the cellphone to its own tripod to support its weight and then adjust everything so you get a decent image. That wasn't always convenient or easy to do.

Other than that, the image itself through the monoculars was sharp and if one wanted just 12x magnification, then it would work. My binoculars cost less than these monoculars so to me it wasn't worth the higher price.

Wonderful product! I can’t see well out of binoculars because my eyes have two different prescriptions. The single lens is wonderful! The product looks like new, packaged like new and works like new! I only put one star for night vision. I didn’t know it had that and haven’t tried it. I do t think it has it but I could be mistaken.

I purchased this monocular because my family planned a hiking trip in Europe and I did not want to transport and carry the weight of my good binoculars and my Rebel SLR. This pieces is light and small enough to slip into a pocket for ready access. The ocular quality of the monocular is quite good--on the order of a good mid-price binocular. These two elements makes it worth the price. The phone holder worked well with my older Iphone, and picture quality was fairly good for pulling in distant images---as long as you like a circular picture and If the apparatus was steadily held by a tripod. The least wiggle ruined a picture. Of course, I traded my old phone for an Iphone 13 and that will not work with the monocular at all (two lenses). At least we are not doing any birding, just looking at distant sights and my new phone has great picture taking capabilities on its own. By the way, the "instruction sheet" is completely worthless.

Research the rest, but THIS is the best value... by far.

As an avid nature explorer, I have been lugging around bulky binoculars my entire life, so when I finally decided to find a better option for hikes, I did my research. THIS is the monocular I chose and it has truly exceeded my expectations in every category.

It is amazingly light-weight and compact, but still provides outstanding magnification. This was my key criteria as I researched similar products, since the nomenclature for monocular lens specifications were new to me. This product brings you close to distant objects while still maintaining a generous field of vision. Not all monoculars will do that.

It's also easy to grip the barrel and adjust the focus, even with winter gloves. And it comes with a tripod and clip to attach your phone to capture breathtaking nature images... Wow!

Just as important to me, this gem of a monocular is sold by a small business who stands behind their products and proactively ensures your satisfaction. WIN-WIN. :)
