Super intuitive to use and kid-friendly
Wanted to get a simple easy to use microscope for looking at objects to use for making class materials. Phone macro is not enough and I needed somethin more user friendly and durable. This one was well within a reasonable price range and seemed simple enough and so far has worked very well. The plate is big enough to fit some small PCB and lcd screens under for showing circuits and pixels. It has some onboard memory to store photos but also saves to micro sd which is great. The plate can be adjusted a good amount to fit things under and the focus is intuitive. There are a few settings like digital zoom and surprising ones that are useful like the hz selection to take video without getting light flicker. There is also a physical brightness dial and it is rechargable by usb-c making the whole package ideal for a classroom use. Pretty happy with it so far, look forward to taking more images of samples from items outside and in the water.

Works exactly as you would hope! Super fast and easy to setup and use. With the adjustment of the slide plate it can accommodate lots of different sized objects and with the light, focus and zoom adjustments you can see awesome detail.

PRO's:
• Coarse and fine adjustments work well.
• LED light intensity is adjustable and bright.
• Images are crisp
• Directly compatible with the default camera app on Windows 11, no additional software required.

CON's:
• Plastic construction is not very durable.
• Magnification capabilities are grossly overstated. A 1cm ruler graduation appears as 9cm at maximum zoom on the microscopes display. This works out to be only 9X magnification... You can get higher numbers with external displays such as when connecting to a PC, but that becomes a digital rather than optical magnification so image pixelation becomes an issue.
• Top down lighting only, no under light for transparent media viewing.

This review is for:
AOPICK Microscope for Adults with Stand - 50X-1000X Magnification Coin Microscope, 1080P Digital Microscope for Kids - 8 LED Lights, Rechargeable, MacOS & Windows Compatible
Style: 4.3-inch microscope with elevating stage

This digital microscope is for viewing and imaging for people of all ages. It's worth 5 stars. It sits in a competitive category but this unit has quite a few things going for it:
- Elevating Stage: Not only does it have a built-in elevating stage but the stage has clips to help hold odd-shaped items. You could also use other tools (alligator clips, tape, etc.) to hold objects in the camera's field of view. The closer you get the object to the camera, the greater the magnification. More on that later.
- LED light with adjustable output: Plenty enough light.
- Magnification: Microscope does indeed permit increased magnification of detail beyond what the unaided eye can ordinarily see. For items sitting relatively flat on the stage (such as coins), at maximum magnification, the FOV is approx. 9mm x 6mm. At minimum magnification, the width of a quarter fills the frame (somewhere around 25mm). For items held closer to the imager, magnification is even greater. I can't speak to '1000x' power but it makes small objects a LOT bigger. See my images of (a) the coin and (b) the audio jack to get a sense of scale. Impressive!
- Incorporated LCD screen provides all-in-one/ portable convenience.
- Shoots both video and still images.
- Ability to connect to MAC or PC increases utility.
- The self-contained memory can store 200 photos or add a microSD memory card up to 32GB (not provided) (I haven't figured out how to review images taken in standalone mode on the LCD)
- Portable: The unit has a built-in battery and can be used anywhere and without a separate power source.
- The focus wheel provides good control and excellent near/far focus range.
- Customer Service: When I had trouble achieving a connection with my PC, Support reached out to me with an offer of help. Excellent!

Honestly, these are fantastic attributes. With some practice, the unit just gets better and better.

Misses?
- Initially, my Windows 10 PC couldn't find the device until I plugged the unit into the PC first and turned it on second so take note: Plug in then turn on.
- Neither software (Windows or proprietary) offers exposure adjustment: Exposure seems to be automatic (automatic gain function). Increasing or decreasing LED brightness with the control wheel doesn't necessarily bring about the expected result. To get dark objects to show, you may have to put a black background underneath to force an increase in exposure; to get bright/ reflective objects to appear, you may have to decrease exposure but for bright reflections on metallic objects (coins), I may look at using polarizing film (which I have).
- There is a 'digital zoom' function that increases magnification in standalone mode but digital zoom is not as effective at revealing detail as true optical zoom. If you want bigger magnification, get the object closer to the imager.
- Coarseness and stiffness of stage adjustment: Not great out of the box but will probably it may loosen with use.
- No X/Y stage adjustment for fine positioning but there's plenty of room to move objects on the stage so this isn't a big deal.
- There is no playback function that I can find to review images on the microscope. Images can be transferred by memory card, however.

This may seem like a long list of misses but, for the price, these are small concerns. The pros far outweigh the cons.

Overall, performance is excellent and gets better the more time one spends familiarizing themselves with the unit. This microscope provides a window into observing small objects that that should satisfy a wide range of observers. Worth shortlisting. 5 stars. Recommended accordingly.

This is a really powerful little microscope!

I tested it out using a thumb drive and my actual thumb, to see what live fingerprints look like a really high level of magnification. The pictures of the logo on the thumb drive don't do this microscope justice, likely because the light was washing the camera out a bit.

When you put something on the tray, you can use the knobs on the back to raise or lower it, and then once you get the proper height, you roll the wheel above the lens to focus until you reach the clarity you want.

The light on this this is incredibly bright and leaves no details of what you're looking at in the dark! When you power the unit on, you can use the ">" button to increase magnification as well, so it's not limited to what you see just when you turn it on and focus it.

The only down side is that it doesn't come with a micro SD card to store the images, but that's a minor issue.

Fantastic microscope, highly recommend if you like looking at coins or stamps or anything like that!

Power on and quick to look at tiny stuff.

I did not install a TF memory chip, instead I used the internal memory before ultimately connecting to a windows 10 PC.

Image brightness, clarity and resolution were absolutely great for looking at the tiny stuff. Have many attempts at a children's microscopes, over time collecting slides and staining kits. The magnification is not fine enough for single cell floaties in pond water but a fly head looks good with this microscope.

Nowadays I'm looking at surface mount electronic components and circuit board traces. This scope is very good for that too.

Pro tip: keep the box and foam for storage.

Best use scenario is as PC camera connected via USB to the PC with a larger monitor and the capture edit tools of the PC.

For the very young budding scientist, the controls are simple and the display panel is perfect for amazing fun.

I love it. It really is a very good product for the money. After charging the battery last longer than you would think. The resolution and magnification is way better than I expected. You can really see the details of the coins. I didn't know how many mistaken identifications I had made on coin errors and how many I missed until I started using this. It takes really good pictures too. It's easy to use, even for me having some senior moments every now and then.
