I have gifted these for a few years by sending direct to recipient. Recently one of the kids mentioned a few of the cards didn't work which didn't make sense to me.

I ordered a card & had it sent to me so I could see what the gift card looks like. As soon as I saw it, I knew why some cards didn't work. Human error.

The card arrives with two plastic cards (both with magnetic strips). One is easy to recognize as the McDonald's gift card. People have just been keeping the gift card portion which is denied. The card with the other magnetic strip has to be swiped by McDonald's to "ACTIVATE" the gift card portion.
