Inexpensive and cheap
I went through about 700 photos in one day. The quality of he scans was no where near the quality of the originals (photo was taken in 1972 with an extremely fine grain Kodak film). However the scanner was quick and easy to use and allowed me to sort through my old negatives and see what I had. Now I can use an other method to recover better images of those photos worth keeping. Besides the quantity issue it would be nice to have a raw file output and more control over the lighting of the negatives.

I received my scanner 10 days ago and I have scanned over 2000 slides. This little machine is very fast (about 3 seconds/slide)and it's easy to transfer the slides to my computer. The instructions are not very clear so it took me a while to figure how to be efficient but once I got it, it was great. I recommend being very careful with the plastic tray, it could break easily if someone is a bit rough with it. It only rotares 180, not 90 but easily fixed from the computer. The screen is a bit small but I highly recommend it.

I purchased hoping to scan 100's of slides I have from 30 years back. The quality of the kodachrome slides are as expected. Kodachrome back in the 80's and 90's was top of the line. After scanning a few slides, I packed the scanner back up in the box and asked for a refund. The quality is absolute crap compared to the original slide. Really disappointed. The clarity is terrible. The picture of the forest is just green. No detail. Anybody who says the quality is good or somehow "great" are out of their mind. I wish I could post a picture of a resulting scan. a joke... not even worth the 110 bucks it cost. I managed to upload some of the scanned slides. they are so blahhh. No detail. no where near as sharp as the slides. Now, to send it back, I have to pay the postage. Never again.

I bought this scanner to digitize a big box full of old family slides. The scanner was easy to use and managed to capture all my slides with reasonable quality. The final product is only as good as the original. It was an easy way to capture the slides into a format that will be easy to share.

My intent is to use this device to go through a treasure trove of negatives I discovered in a couple of shoe boxes and some found in my Mother's things after she died. Purchasing this unit has a much better cost/benefit compared to getting a bunch of prints made of negatives of people I'm not sure I actually want to invest in. I'm dealing with mainly 35mm film. I have been very impressed with the pictures I'm seeing in the machine. I'm using an SD Card (which I recommend you use) to make downloading the pictures to my computer very easy. I also like the ability to do do color adjustments in the unit. I would buy it again, no regrets.

Manufacturer's specs indicate scan quality as 4100 dpi for 35 mm film. That means 4100 dots per 1.34 square inch (36 mm x 24 mm). Multiply dots by inches and you'll get 5.5 megapixel. That's the sensor they use. The rest is software enhanced process called interpolation. The result is terrible. Also the aspect ratio of 35 mm film is 1:1.5. The aspect ratio of their sensor is 1:1.3. That means significant cropping on both sides. Dust removal is required after each scan and it's almost impossible to remove all dust. You will always see white dots on the scan. If you're looking for a quality scanner, pass on this product. The only good thing about this product is that it ships from Calgary. Both, initial delivery and return were fast.

This unit is a reasonably priced digitizer for your slide conversion project. It’s simple but makes vey nice digital files of your slides. The screen size is small, but I was happily surprised by the quality of files. I quickly converted all my slides and the unit and easily uploaded to my computer. You can always tweak the files more once on your computer.

I'm very angry. I just spent a few hours scanning a few hundreds of beautiful old 35mm negatives by this scanner.
The results are TERRIBLE.
While technically, the images are "22MP" (they are 5728x3824 pixels =21.9 million pixels), this number does not represent the sensor resolution in any meaningful way.
The images look like they were scanned AT MOST by a 400x600 pixel scanner and then stretched to the specified pixel resolution to satisfy the described product.

SHAME ON YOU "Magnasonic"!
When a customer buys a 22MP scanner, they expect it to produce 22MP scans of their pictures. This unrecognizably smeared mess wastes the customer's money, time and effort.

I do NOT recommend this product in any way shape or form. Please don't buy it. Save your time.

I am attaching a picture of buffalo in Yellowstone. The original is a beautiful analog picture that has a ton of detail. You be the judge of the resulting scan. Zoom into the trees and the buffalo.
