I went through the setting to upgrade it to Windows 11 Pro which took me to the Microsoft store and spend $150 cdn and now can't proceed with the upgrade. It keeps throwing me an error of Ox80070490. I have tried easy fixes like DISM to restore the image and SFC to check it hasn't worked for me. I'll figure it out later trouble shooter through back error with windows update. I've only only had for a day so I will edit this once I get this sorted. Solid hardware but not impressed with initial setup process. for a $1000 Cdn/taxes it's hardware is decent if you don't mind getting your hands dirty. After do a total fresh resetting of windows I was able to upgrade to Pro and and everything seems to be working properly and I am very pleased 😀 with this computer

As a developer this ticked all the boxes for me. Solid processor, enough RAM, decent SSD size. It's only been a week, so no idea about longevity yet, but so far it has done the job admirably. The size is mindblowing. Like this thing is smaller than my coffee cup. No fans means it is also dead silent.

I would have liked at least one more HDMI port or a display port, and a dedicated ethernet, but these weren't deal breakers for me. These things are where it lost its one star in my rating. To be fair I knew these issues going in, and could have spent more to get them.

One note, and this should be obvious, but for inexperienced buyers. This is NOT a gaming computer. It has okay graphics, but no matter what anyone says onboard graphics are not ideal for anything but the most casual gaming and it does limit the wattage to the CPU when gaming meaning you don't get the full power from the chip.

But, if you are looking for a solid business/home/web surfing computer, it is really really hard to beat the bang for the buck of this thing.

Comparing this Minisforum Venus UM790 Mini PC powered by a modern AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS with my old Dell notebook that have inside a 11th generation i9 (same number of cores and threads as this AMD), is like comparing a steam locomotive with a magnetic levitation train (silent and fast).

The performance and extensibility of this mini PC is amazing:
- two DDR5 slots
- two PCIe 4.0 SSD slots
- two USB-4 ports, 40 Gbps with PD (we can power this PC with an external 130W battery power bank !)
- fast X86 integrated GPU and using the USB-4 ports we can control monster eGPUs like the Oculink ONEXGPU.

Summary: What computer science wanted to see inside the ENIAC, VAX, and Cray computers, is now present inside this MiniPC.

After a few days thinking about this little PC, I decided to take a chance on it (NAB5). To my surprise, the RAM in the PC I received is Crucial RAM and the SSD is a Kingston SSD. No need to tell you that the performance is on point. Fans are very quiet. There are 2 separate fans, an SSD fan and the main unit fan. No bloatware in the install (Win 11 Pro). Very good price for what you get.

I am so happy with this purchase. This machine is very fast at 32 gigs. The rise of 9 is a great processor and the graphics are excellent running three monitors at 2.5 to 2K. Very snappy performance after I removed Windows as the primary OS and replaced it with Linux mint. I had copied the windows key before I erased it and reinstalled Windows from an ISO from the windows website in KVM / QEMU setup running as a type 1 hypervisor. The key worked flawlessly on the virtual install of Windows 11. My only complaint with the AMD processor here is that there was some difficulty in configuring the virtual machine to directly link with computer hardware. I will also be installing basic AI in this machine with a 7B language model. I don't think it will be that great by itself but I can always add it to another machine later on.
It is extremely quiet running and the temperature is very stable. I have no problems with this machine at all. Like I said, an amazing value! Very fast in wifi and solid connection.

I was contacted by support shortly after writing the review. They offered to replace the unit and assured me that my experience with the previous NAB 9 was not the standard. They sent me a replacement unit and it set up with no issues and is more quite than my nuc 13 i71360P. I am impressed with the overall performance. Nex I will get proxmox setup and put it under load.

I bought this computer as a home lab computer to run some proxmox VM. I received the computer and it was boxed really well. I plugged it in and the fan immediately started at 100% I figured maybe that is something that happens during set up. I got the windows 11 set up but the fan stayed at 100%. I went into the bios and looked at the fan settings and they were set to automatic. The processor temperatures were not very high. I went to the manufacture website to see if there were bios or chip updates that might fix the issue I found none.
