This product works very nicely for home surveillance. Love everything about them other then they haven’t fine-tuned the notifications so you get notifications constantly for movement

I got this camera for two reasons. First would be because we are starting to let our 10 almost 11 year old stay home alone for small periods of time and it gives us ease of mind when we leave him at home to check in. Second when we go on vacation we like to be able to check in on our dogs and make sure our pet sitter/house sitter is showing up daily.

This camera is great it captures playback footage of events with people or pets moving. You can also view live of course. It also has the option to talk through the camera. It ahas an app with free storage so you don’t have to pay an annual or monthly fee to go back and view footage. Footage and range is clear enough for what we need it for. We don’t keep plugged in constantly but, it gives us peace of mind when we are out to check in on the house. I would recommend this camera and I am also looking into adding some of the outdoor cameras as well because our current outdoor camera are $20/month for basically the same service Lorex offers for free. Very happy with my purchase.

I like its compact size. Would like it to have warning light like my other two models. I like to hit the light when I’m uncertain of movement. It’s a great deterrent , in my opinion. If I’m away I’ll occasionally tap the light just to unexpectedly show light when away. Too bad it doesn’t have it !!

Even after 1.4 hours with tech support and several hours of my own time I wasn't able to set up these cameras on the Lorex app on my iphone. I already have 5 Lorex cameras working so I'm sure it is a problem with Lorex's app software. They tried to blame it on my internet. Sending them back!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Lorex NVR add-on

So Arlo (Netgear) pissed me off by making customers purchase a plan if they want to save files to a library. We like recording racoons that visit at night and our Arlo stopped storing videos. We have a Lorex system and I found this gem. It was super easy to add to my system from the phone app and the NVR. I use this indoor wifi cam to keep an eye on a sick cat. I have an outdoor wifi cam that I'm going to use as the racoon cam! I've been happy w/our Lorex NVR (just added a WD Purple 8TB HDD to the system today) and so far, it's worked flawlessly. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a decent surveillance system. And as advertised "NO MONTHLY FEES!"

I spent three hours searching for key phrases in Amazon reviews before I decided on this camera. I almost bought a Blink, Wyze, and Ring, but canceled at the last minute. I think it was a good choice. Let me outline the pros and cons.

Pros:
-Can record indefinitely with motion sensing - not 30 seconds like Blink
-Video is time stamped
-No subscription
-Multi-camera view (for free, unlike Wyze)
-Completely custom detection zones in a grid (see pics)
-16GB memory card advertised, 32GB included - nice that they don't pinch pennies
-Seamless Android setup (Galaxy S8; old-school)
-App doesn't crash or force a login every time it's opened - runs rather well
-Life feed doesn't require continuous prompting like Blink
-Video can be viewed in portrait or landscape mode
-Videos can be downloaded to phone over the internet (if you commit it to a recording)
-Privacy mode allows you to stop recording and notifications manually
-No official motion detection cool-down time (what a way to screw your customers, Wyze - completely pay to play)
-Permissions requests explain exactly how a given resource is used
-Microphone; I could hear myself whistle from the next room while streaming the feed
-Intercom, in case you want to annoy your family or get your camera stolen

Upon opening the box, I thought I had the Holy Grail. I didn't experience any of the horror stories I read about and everything was easy-peasy. Now, for the missed opportunities...

Cons:
-Local storage only (on the memory card in the camera);
No option to commit recordings to multiple places
-PC app does not work with this camera, so it is phone-controlled only
-You can set a notification schedule and you can use location settings to stop recording when you are nearby, but you cannot set a hard start and stop schedule
-Yes, it does generate heat, but I will update if it actually becomes an issue
-If you set a motion zone, like a door, all you get is the person cracking open the door. Making the whole screen the motion zone seemed to yield better results, but it seems to defeat the purpose of a trigger zone.
-Maybe it's the wide FOV, but I thought 2k would be more detailed. Maybe cell phones have spoiled me.

As you can see, it is very close to being a super product. Freedom from a subscription has its ups and downs. I dislike having to rely on technology to make decisions like if I'm home or if motion that continues outside of the zone is worth recording without having the ability to guarantee results, like "do or don't record at these times" and "record for a minimum time of..." or "don't stop recording until the motion stops." I also really wish that I could access this device from my PC. I also really wish I could choose for recordings to commit to XYZ device in real time. Maybe there is a system this works with that would do that, I don't know.

Overall, it is a good product if you want something you can monitor from your phone without having to pay for the rest of your life. You can manage many cameras (I saw grid options for up to 9, possibly more) from your phone. If nobody swipes your camera, you can remotely access your recordings and "record" a given event in order to download the recording. I believe you have to manually go through and there is a way to check the boxes of events you want deleted. I don't know what happens yet when the memory card is filled; deleting events did not seem to free any space. Hopefully it just overwrites the oldest recording.

I've attached some pictures and recordings. Mostly of menus, since ease of use and reliability of the app was a large driver of my purchase and online documentation is scarce. I also included a video of the "click" the manual talks about when the IR filter flips down to enter night mode.

5/30/22 Update: It appears that the events get deleted automatically after a few days, not after it fills up. It's convenient to not have a bunch of events, but inconvenient because if you want to review something from last week, it's gone. It's also inconvenient if it always writes to the same blocks of memory, as it would wear the memory card out much faster (if it does that). If you hit the writing icon in the top right and then the four squares in the top left, you can select all events at once.

Overall, it has done a good job. I still refuse to give the last star on account of the poor video management. There is no way to tell it to automatically ignore based on phone proximity or time. It will still record a ton of events when it sees you, it just will not notify you of the events.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Wi-Fi camera to use standalone with the app or add to existing NVR.

I have a Lorex NVR system already installed and just wanted to add a camera inside the garage. Instead of running another CAT6 network line that goes back to the NVR, I decided to get this.
It is super easy to install, and you just plug it into the outlet and connect it to your Wi-Fi.
I was able to add this camera to my NVR through Wi-Fi and now I can see all cameras together, including this Wi-Fi camera on my NVR. That's it!
It has a crisp clear image and looks and feels durable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent & Easy to Set up
Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2022

I bought 2 of these and i found them really easy to set up. You should have your Lorex account set up first, plug in the power source, scan the barcode on the back of the camera with the Lorex app on your phone, go through connecting it to your WiFi, no rocket science, and after about 5 clicks and 3 minutes, the camera is recording on the SD Card included with the camera.

Its 2K and it looks really good. It also has an HDR feature, audio recording, loud noise detection, infrared for night vision and many other adjustments and features.

The base of the camera stand is magnetic so anything metal it can cling to, upside down, sideways, anything, anywhere. It also comes with a metal plate in case there isn't anything metal close by, you can attach the plate to a surface and then the magnet in the camera stand can attach to it.

As in another review; i bought 2 for myself and since it was so easy to set up and configure i bought 2 for my in-laws.

1.0 out of 5 stars Camera is good quality. Installation and app, not so much.
Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2023
Style: 2K BLVerified Purchase
Unlike any other camera I've tried, this one has the worst ever installation instructions ever, and is WAY too confusig. And I build computers. Once you download the app and try to follow the instructions, including scanning the QR code on the back of the camera that measures only a half inch, with your other device (yes you have to have your app device there or type in the microscopic numbers under it, and selecting the model from a chart, it tells you that "Lorex is attempting to connect to the network at" and then shows you the model number and QR code number you just entered, as IF that was the name of your network. That is totally confusing. Any other app would tell you to choose your network from the list and have you enter your pass code. They don't tell you that their camera (for unknown reasons) wants to create what they call a "hotspot" in YOUR network. If you can figure out what it really wants (Hint: you can't) which is to CREATE a new login name and password for the camera itself), THEN it finally asks for the name of your Wi-Fi network and pass code. It wants to access YOUR network to scan for other devices (not necessary). It wants access to your phone's camera. Not Necessary. It is a very big snoop. THEN, once you set up the app in one device, if you set up the device on another app on the same network (ie: a phone and a tablet), then you can only access it from one at a time. No problem, except that each time you change devices, it forces you to login again, and blocks your device from remembering and loging you in automatically, so you have to type all that info in all over again. That gets old really quick if you switch from one device to another often. They force you to do so because you can't be logged into the camera on more than one device at a time. Not worth the trouble and I will probably return it.

That was all before we get to the OTHER problems. The default notification sound on my phone goes off with every other camera app. On the Lorex app it doesn't. No sound at all and yes it is turned on. I have installed every other camera (six of them....all different brands) and they use the system default notification sound of my iPhone (bloop bloop). So the security is useless because I won't hear the notifications.
