Know-tying is an important skill, even essential if you are a boater, sailor, hiker, climber, or fishermen. Here in full color are the knots you need to know.

The fundamental skill of tying knots is useful in countless situations, both indoors and out.
The Little Book of Incredibly Useful Knots teaches you which knot to choose and exactly how to tie it, whether you’re constructing a trout fly, repairing a hammock, mooring a boat, securing a load to a car roof rack, or engaging in a rescue or survival situation.

Compiled and written by two experts on the subject, this is an invaluable manual that explains through clear line diagrams and step-by-step descriptions how to tie more than two hundred practical knots, grouped by construction and tying method. Every entry contains a brief introduction to the history and development of the knot, its alternative names, and information on its uses and special features. Types of knots detailed include:
  • Wagoner’s hitch
  • Englishman’s loop
  • Scaffold knot
  • Cordelette anchor
  • Trident loop
  • Lobster buoy hitch

The book also contains a comprehensive glossary of terms to guide you through the complexities of different rope types. It helps you choose the right rope for every task.

Skyhorse Publishing is proud to publish a broad range of books for fishermen. Our books for anglers include titles that focus on fly fishing, bait fishing, fly-casting, spin casting, deep sea fishing, and surf fishing. Our books offer both practical advice on tackle, techniques, knots, and more, as well as lyrical prose on fishing for bass, trout, salmon, crappie, baitfish, catfish, and more. While not every title we publish becomes a
New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to publishing books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked by other publishers and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

I order this book, andnit arrived fine, I have no issues with the condition, or the price.
I gave 4 Star rating reflects the quality of the material explained. It's basically a coffee table book that has minimal effort given to explanation and graphic quality.
I will keep it, solely for the purpose of leaving to end up in the various places it ends up around the house, as visitors and family discover it for what it's worth.
Now for the price, there is more than enough substance for interest. It by no means exhaustive, just a nice simple book with simple graphics and a minimal right up

I teach outdoor Ed. There are more comprehensive and complex knot books. Others are too simple. This one is in the sweet spot. Some useful knots missing. Some exotic knots included of marginal use. But on the whole...a very good book at a very good price. Well illustrated.

I am trying to learn knots so i can be better at camping and sailing. This book is a complete let down.

To learn to use knots correctly you need context and clear instructions. this book lacks both. Returning the book.

Great as a gift, or for learning those knots that you have heard about but don't yet know how to tie.

Strong hard cover and great kind of paper inside. Very pleasant to handle and read. All the information well organized and several figures to make the learning easier. Each knot is classified in strenght, security, ease of tying and ease of untying. Short interesting comments help to memorize the utility of each knot. A great book if you are looking for learning some useful knots. Strongly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Important: Easy to follow diagrams

I bought several knot tying books and this was by far the best. Huge selection of knots, and most importantly easy to follow diagrams defining the different pieces of rope and the ends of the rope. The size of the book is handy (small and uncluttered) and it is easy to open, and keep open while trying a knot. I bought another book which was ring bound, thinking it would be a good format for following instructions but this book is just as good at staying open.

My husband enjoys sailing so knows a bit about knots. He hasn’t put this book down since he received it. Says it is good for beginners and for those with some knowledge. Says he has learnt quite a few new tricks. Sturdy, nice quality book.
