The package is very small, but it makes a generous amount of orzo. The orzo tastes good and it’s pretty versatile. It’s essentially pasta with a rice-like texture. I eat it the way I would rice - with stirfries, sauces, stews, in soups, etc.

The cooking instructions on the package aren’t that great, in my opinion. It’s vague and doesn’t really tell you how long to cook it for. It also says to cook the entire 450g package in 5 liters of lightly salted water! Yikes! You definitely don’t need that much water!!

I cook it the way I do any other pasta…It depends on your personal preference. Half a package is enough for a few servings and I just eyeball the water, making sure that there is enough boiling water to fully cover the orzo with a couple extra inches to spare. I think about 10-12 minutes in boiling water works with frequent stirring. (You don’t want it to stick to the bottom of your pot). Just make sure you don’t overcook it as it might get mushy. I pour the hot water out and hit it with some cold water to stop it from cooking any further.

The orzo tastes great and I enjoy the texture.

I frequently use orzo in place of other pastas, in both hot and cold dishes. It is tasty and it cooks quickly! Unfortunately, It was not packaged properly to survive the shipping to my home, and the package was split open in a few places and I had orzo everywhere. That is a problem caused by Amazon staff, in Amazon’s attempt to reduce packaging & the impact on the environment. The pasta is great!
