Beautiful but too expensive

Beautiful but too expensive
This monitor is truly gorgeous. The colours pop, contrast is striking with perfect black, and the motion is super crisp if you have a computer that supports higher framerates. The only real drawback is its high price. You could get a 42" 4K 120 Hz OLED TV that has speakers for less money, but also true, it wouldn't be ultrawide screen or 240Hz. My previous monitor had a 34" diagonal so this new 45" looks astounding, and its curve envelops the field of view perfectly. My previous monitor had a 1000R curve so the 800R curve on this new one is not a concern at all.As for the 86 pixels per inch (PPI), the only circumstance where I actually noticed was Windows text which appears either slightly "thicker" or more pixelated (depending on app) than in more standard 110 PPI. I use this monitor sitting 2.5-3 feet away. I'd say my eye could resolve pixels starting at about 1.5 feet away so it is not really an issue for games and video. All of this to say that I will not go back to a 34".Tips: make sure you update the firmware. Prior to doing so, the screen felt a bit dim and the colours slightly off. If you see any faint lines/traces on muted colours such as grey or blue, run the image cleaning features. For me, this fixed these small abnormalities right away.

I tried this monitor when it was on sale. Although I did end up buying the GS version as it also went on sale, I tried this long enough to experience what it is though. I thought this monitor would be dim but that is just simply not true, it does feel dim at first, but this is because you're just not used to OLED having darker shades, contrast and blacks in general. After a few hours of use, the brightness was perfectly fine. There is no issue with it and people are just over blowing it. The brightness is good enough especially if you use HDR, in fact this monitor can get bright enough to hurt my eyes with certain scenarios. This is an OLED, and while it isn't as good as like an OLED TV such as an LG C2, this is still game changing. The blacks are inky, the contrast is crisp, beautiful and balanced, and everything is sharp, pops out. The smoothness on this monitor is also amazing, and I can tell I've been doing better than before in gaming. What I recommend is to use HDMI instead with this monitor, if your PC has HDMI 2.1, it is way faster than DisplayPort 1.4, there will be better colours, less banding and better latency. You can go to CRU and turn on those features too, like fast v active and auto low latency mode. I also recommend that when using HDR, use Windows HDR calibration tool and set it to 0-1000-1000-0% saturation, this will give the best highlights possible.

The biggest issue with this monitor is the vignetting effect it has on, which darkens the edges of the image and leaves the center alone. For example in a game, the gun and hud elements would look darkened. This can be turned off with the service remote and I highly recommend getting it if the monitor is not bright enough for you. Turning off CPC makes the monitor not feel dim at all. Press instart with the service remote, enable aging, exit the menu, instart again and then disable CPC, LEA refresh and LBC, do not touch any other settings though. Then off aging then exist and enjoy. I wish CPC was off by default but even with it on its still pretty bright, I don't get how people can say this monitor isn't bright, they are just trying to burn their eyes.

Overall this montior is amazing, and its a good way to entry into OLED, the picture quality is simply just too good and you can't go back to anything that isn't OLED after using this once. I came from a VA monitor and have used IPS as well, the image in this is just way too good and addicting, its beautiful.

I did end up buying the GS, only because was on sale for only $50 more, and it is better than this, its a refreshed version of this and has better brightness and lower latency, but I bought it only because its newer and this version will no longer have firmware updates. There is nothing wrong with this monitor through and I highly recommend it if you can get it at a price drop.

I got this on a 27% discount so for CAD1,700 it was definitely worth it. Easily the best image quality I have ever seen. The size and curvature are incredible. When gaming, I am fully immersed in. With your entire field-of-view covered - there's nothing like it. It's also incredible for work because the size makes working with large documents and small text very easy. The OLED display with it's deep blacks provide incredible colors that brings alive details in images I hadn't even noticed on my previous LED monitor.

I know some people complain about a monitor this size not being 4K, but 1440P Ultrawide is really a sweet spot where you can push high framerates with your GPU. The resolution is just fine for me and helps take full advantage of the 240Hz refresh rate.

This monitor has it all - GSync, High refresh rate, huge size, amazing colors, low latency. I highly recommend this to anyone.

I had reservations about the PPI being low, which IS true, but I have yet to truly notice and I use it for many hours daily for months now.
I was also worried about the fonts - which IS a problem, but barely noticeable, and with the use of grayscale fonts, the issue is resolved completely.
I wish it had speakers.
the curve is amazing
the responsiveness of OLED is unbelievable
the true blacks and the matte finish is the best I've ever seen
and the 21:9 works incredibly well for gaming in particular.

I've gone through 24", 2x 24", 27", 32", 43" 2x 27", and 49" and this 45" 1440p IS the best overall. its painful going back to 16:9 or 16:10 monitors....now to convince my boss i need this at work :)

look for a sale, i got mine at $1699, and am very pleased.
I wish it was 5K2K, but that is on the roadmap, but not until 2025-6 so they say.

Three months ago, I made the decision to invest over $1400 in an OLED monitor, expecting top-tier quality and durability. The device initially performed as expected, with vibrant colors and sharp contrasts making every use a pleasure. However, this experience was quickly soured by a massive dead pixel line appearing on the left side of the screen. This is not a minor defect one can overlook or ignore, it’s a glaring vertical line of non-functioning pixels, rendering the affected portion of the screen completely useless.

Having such a pronounced issue crop up just three months into use raises serious concerns about the product’s quality and the brand's attention to detail. A dead pixel issue on such a high-end, expensive device is absolutely unacceptable. It significantly detracts from my viewing experience, whether it's for professional use or leisure activities. Even worse, the dead pixels cast a shadow over all the outstanding features the monitor otherwise boasts, turning what should have been an exceptional user experience into a source of constant frustration.

Upon reaching out to LG, their proposed solution was to send a support technician. However, considering the nature of dead pixels, it's hard for me to believe that a technician visit can rectify the problem. The brand's seemingly underwhelming response to a clearly significant issue leaves me feeling undervalued and disregarded as a customer. It's a disheartening realization, prompting me to caution prospective buyers to tread carefully before investing in this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great monitor with a couple of quirks
Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2023
Size: 48"Verified Purchase
Love this display. Picture is great on every input I've used. No complaints with the image itself. Black levels are good. Responsiveness is good.

Now to the quirks:
- It loves to dim itself. If you don't have a larger window open and moving, it will start dimming and ultimately turn itself off. Its fine if you're playing a game or a movie fullscreen. The challenge comes to if you're doing productivity work or reading .. particularly on a smaller/dark mode window. It's so subtle when it starts that I sometimes think my eyes are getting dimmer. Like somehow the monitor isn't as bright as it should be. Maximizing a window or yanking something around wakes it up again. How much of an issue this will be for you will depend completely on what your use case is. It could be inconsequential or it could drive you nuts.
- Wakes up and responds to the remote pretty slow. I turned on the audio tones just so I could tell it got the on signal. Otherwise I hit the button multiple times thinking it didn't get the command at first.
- If the remote dies, I don't know if there's any way to turn it on or change inputs at all. This is a bit of a ...product design flaw. There should be some kind of on device controls to use as a backup. Remotes don't always last (broken, lost, dies... whatever) I will probably be a bit annoyed if this becomes an expensive brick for lack of a $15 remote.

Laugh. The monitor just dimmed itself while I was writing this. (*wiggle* *wiggle*)

5.0 out of 5 stars Brightness is a misleading issue
Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2023
Size: 27"Verified Purchase
I want to start with this immediately. I am in a Small room with bright colors with a white light rated at 1600 Lumin. From my experience this is a bright room. The only window is behind the monitor, so my eyes are dilated to day light, but there is no glare issues.

Despite that, only 1 or two times can I remember thinking I need to turn lights off to see. Always in a dark game never in a normal gaming or video watching setting.

With that out the way my pros and cons
Pros
- Matte screen, people hate that it is matte, but for me it just means no glare and I see that as a win for a gaming display, I'd be made if in cs:go I got peaked and glare made the person hidden.
- It is low bezel.
- Great color
- Great contrast
- Amazing pixel response time
- Deep blacks and great hdr
- Fit my monitor arm fine, a bit heavy, but I have a cheap arm.
- Really thin display
- Very easy to assemble
- Good packaging imo
- 1440p is perfect, I had 4k before and yes I can see the difference however it is not much. 1080p to 1440p seems massive. 1440p to 4k seems minor and requires pixel peeping.

Cons
- On screen display stays up way too long and there is no way to manual close, so if you tab into a game sometimes it pops up and it is just forced taking up screen space for 15 seconds.
- It doesn't know its own resolution. Most games I play in 1440p everytime I tab in and out it makes a prompt appear telling my I don't have a 4k display, I know I don't. Then you must use the UI to close this even if you click "never appear again". Then that ui has a long auto turn off you can't do yourself. To make matters worse if you tab into a game with this, after the UI is gone the next 5-30 seconds at some point the game super stutters and lags until image is fixed. This is all solved by running the game in fullscreen-windowed mode. However I personally prefer full screen.
- Brightness is a con. Like I said not even close to as bad as reviews make it, but other competitor monitors are not higher enough to also be good. It is fine, but in cs:go I do notice a flashbang is off white due to lack of power.
- Some UI elements like "calibration" are not accessible without the remote that comes with dirplay. I have no idea why, but remote UI, PC UI, and monitor button UI are all different. Same art, but different functions. Want refresh rate and RGB, grab remote. Want game mode, use buttons. Want to update or check firmware version, use PC UI. Why not all be the same and different methods of use.
- This knob on the monitor to us UI is trash, there is click and long click. Actually it, click goes down, long click selects. PLS make the next a 4-direction knob with hold and click functions.
- Barrel jack plug for power, we should use USB-C whenever possible and it is here. Also, I need 1 more inch for optimal length of barrel end to brick.
- Honey comb back to me looks and feels cheap, why do reviewers like it?

Basically, This monitor is great the only set back for me is the UI. It truly is just horrible trash. I don't understand the decisions made and I thought by now there would be a major update to it, yet not 1 update since the 3ish months I have had it. I have so much more to say on how bad it is. I jsut can't bring myself to make that long of an essay so I will rapid fire and hope it makes sense.
- Greyed out does not mean non-accessible, and lit doesn't mean accessible.
- Why is gamer UI and standard UI different in features?
- Why does update checker sometimes work and others doesn't say I am allowed?
- Why does it minimize to toolbar instead of system tray?
- 0 info on what most things do.
- Why can I change color gambit if there is 1 option?

xtra
- I have a quest 2, this is more of a quest and windows problem than the monitor. If I use the monitor in HDR I must turn it off to use quest or the quest bugs out. Just keep note of that.

overall. The Panel itself is amazing, the price is best for this panel. The OLED is perfectly bright. No burn in. Best in class I have seen for image quality. 10/10 for all this. I LOVE this thing the ONLY major flaw is User Interface and firmware being stupid. Both can be fixed with an update and in new iterations. As well both are not in use 99% of the time. Just that 1% really sucks.

Dicho lo anterior, empecemos;

Es aquí en donde quiero discutir dos puntos muy importantes;

La diferencia es absurda entre DP 1.4 o HDMI 2.0 y el HDMI 2.1, así que este monitor solo lo puedo recomendar para;
- Usuarios de Xbox Series
- Usuarios de nueva generación en PC

Pasemos ahora a otro apartado, la calibración;

Por último... quiero hacer mención especial al control remoto;

Entonces... resumiendo;

¿Es el mejor monitor competitivo?
Si bien podría parecer que es el caso, ya que al ser OLED los tiempos de respuesta son RI-DÍ-CU-LOS [llegando a 0,1 ms en promedio... 100 veces más rápidos que un panel IPS], también, el ser OLED le juega en contra en algunas cosas, de entre las que destacan 2 principalmente;

Aún así, quiero dejar en claro algo;
*LG ha lanzado un Endgame al mercado*

Es imposible competir contra este monitor en muchos terrenos;

- Formato

Conclusion;

A menos a qué busques algo excesivamente específico y te convenga saltar a un monitor exclusivamente para competir en shooters modernos, o no te moleste el formato ultrawide de la opción de Alienware que es otro formato de imagen, no veo a ningún competidor del mercado ofreciendo un paquete tan absurdamente completo para el gamer entusiasta de PC y consola. Es un todo terreno del cual difícilmente querrás deshacerte porque se amolda a cualquier cosa que le sueltes;
- RTS
- Shooters
- Mobas
- RPGs
- Etc etc

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny. Seriously.
Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2024
Size: 45"Verified Purchase
FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
I came from a 32 ln LCD monitor that was 1440p. I was a bit nervous with some of the reviews regarding pixel density. However, after a couple of days I can say this is SIGNIFICANTLY over blown. I usually have like 2-4 windows open at the time and I can not tell the difference.

GAMING:
This is the real reason I bought this monitor. The jump from 165 to 240 is noticeable but only barely. However the fact that this monitor is 1440P means you don't lose performance comparatively to upgrading to a 4K monitor. Man, this monitor's curve is breath taking and you truly inmerse yourself because of the way the screen hugs your eye corners.
Pictures don't do justice to this monitor, it's gorgeous, the color are vibrant and the contrast is phenomenal.

PERFORMANCE:
Burn in is a problem when people talk about OLEDs, but this baby comes with several easy to use tools to avoid any burn in. Also, technology is advanced enough that you can enable the screen saver option to exponentially prolong the life span of your monitor.
However, if you are looking for not a monitor, but an experience I suggest buying it. I can push around 160-240+ FPS with my 4080 and let me tell you this is the way you want to do it.

PRODUCTIVITY:
It does what you can do with any other monitor, except better.

NICHE FEATURES:
It includes a bunch of dot sights that are mostly used when playing first person shooter games but I must say, after using them they actually help quite a bit to find the center of the screen and they are not invasive at all. They can pop in and pop out with the ease of a click from the included remote control.

5/5 I can recommend.
