Choosing a monitor for your new M1 Mac mini of Mac Studio is difficult if you’ve already ruled out the Studio monitor because of the price. I agonized over this for a long time, read HUNDREDS of reviews of many different alternatives. I was confused by the many comments about scaling the resolution, how it would interact with my Mac, controlling such things as volume, brightness etc. All things that, on my previous iMac, were not an issue. I hope that this review will help anyone in the same situation feel more comfortable with buying a non apple monitor. First of all, the ergonomics of this monitor. The stand is excellent, height adjustment is so simple, the stand looks great and installing it to your monitor is literally a matter of seconds. The 1 cable connection using the supplied USB-C cable is very tidy and works perfectly. Out of the box, with the display parked beside my wife’s 5K iMac screen, this monitor is slightly less crisp. However, after some tweaking using the very functional joystick/toggle on the bottom of the display, the difference is minimal and more than acceptable to me. I saw several reviews talking about problems waking from sleep on the previous UN model; the problem does not exist here. Monitor sleeps right after I put my Mac to sleep and promptly turns back on when I wake my Mac up. As far a scaling goes, I was confused as to what that was going to do do the sharpness and all round look of the display. It’s totally a non issue. You can change the display resolution in you system preferences to whatever is easiest for you to see and the screen looks awesome. I set the Mac sound output to use the monitor’s audio and I control it just like I always have, from the keyboard. As for brightness, even though this display is speced as 400 NITS, it is plenty bright, I generally have my brightness set at minimum and it’s great. Colours are great and everything is crisp and sharp. The downloadable On Screen Control (OSC) is not quite perfect for this monitor, but adjusting this monitor with the joystick works well. Hopefully LG will update the OSC software. There is a free app available on the web called Monitor Control that lets you control brightness and contrast from your keyboard and it seems to work well. I hope this helps anyone who was as confused as I was. This monitor works great with my Mac Studio and I am very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommended.

This is one of the best monitors on the market. The colour gamut of the monitor is almost accurate closer to the current Macs P3 Display color gamut and it's only DCI-P3 95% which is better than sRGB 99% because DCI-P3 has a more and larger color gamut than sRGB. Also, there's an LG-calibrated software to download to get the best accurate colors. The monitor can charge 96W of power In a single cord (type-c) to charge my MacBook which is excellent and nice to have a fast charger while using the monitor. Overall, such a great monitor for that price and it's worth it.

I have now been using this monitor for about 5 months and can give my review. It is just the perfect monitor if you are looking for a 27". My main computer is a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Pro. I wanted a monitor to supplement my laptop screen so that I can have the option between using it like a desktop or carry it away like a laptop. The screen quality is perfect. My old desktop was a 5k monitor 27" iMac and I d not see any noticeable differences. The features are great. It charges my laptop just from connecting it so I now save space on having a charger. The 2 usb3 ports in the back are perfect for connecting my Webcam and anything else (not to mention that the MacBook Pro has no USB3 ports so it saves me from needing a dongle too). The easy ability to move the monitor higher and lower are phenomenal.

Watching movies/Netflix, etc is great. The picture quality is wonderful.

I would recommend this monitor to anyone.

After a year, the usb-c port became loose. Playing with it brings back the image but it's getting harder and harder to bring it back. Thankfully there are other connection options, but it's pretty annoying for a screen of this price.

The resolution and color is amazing! What I really love about this monitor is the USB-C capability: Using my 2019 Macbook Air, and the provided USB-C cable that comes with the monitor, I can connect to the screen, charge my Macbook (faster than my original apple charger as the monitor provide 96W), and use the monitor's loudspeaker (yes it has them integrated), and also use the 2 USB-3 ports to connect my mouse/keyboard and external hard drive. Everything with only one USB-C cable, that's really neat, and clean up my desk from wires!

After checking out many online reviews of this model versus others from LG and Dell, I decided on this one to use with my 2019 MacBook Pro. I am impressed with the vivid colors and crisp resolution so far. It is almost indistinguishable to my aging eyes from my 27" 5K iMac's display.

The onnly issue so far has been some wonkiness about the USB-C connectivity. I initially connected it to the MacBook using the supplied USB-C cable. At the time I first turned on the monitor using that cable, it said there was a firmware download needed. But after the firmware installation, I could no longer get the monitor to check for firmware updates or use the USB ports on the back of the monitor. Don't know if that was LG's cable, their monitor software/firmware, or an Apple issue. Some online suggested using a Thunderbolt 4 cable instead. So, after connecting via a Thunderbolt 4 cable it still didn't seem able to do firmware checks or make the USB ports available. Then I saw a suggestion to restart the monitor while the Mac is connected. Viola! That was the trick. Now the USB ports are working fine and LG's software is able to check for firmware updates! Assuming that solves the issue for the long term, I'm totally pleased with the monitor.

I have a Dell XPS-15 with 130W power adapter and happy to report that this monitor is able to charge the laptop over USB-C. When fully charged, it stop to protect battery health then resume as needed automatically. I left the monitor volume at 50% then was able to further adjust volume to taste from Windows system tray. The default 150% scaling for fonts and icons at 4k resolution is perfect on the 27 inch display. I sit near a window and have no issue with screen brightness or reflection. There is so much more usable screen real estate now as everything looks sharp from edge to edge. It’s worth every penny and glad that I went with this latest model with the higher voltage and brightness.
