Excellent monitor for my purposes

Review for adjustable height, no USB-C 27". I am using this as a primary monitor attached to my 2022 MacBook Air, M2. After trying the least expensive 4K 27" monitor listed by Amazon with disastrous result I found this LG on warehouse deals. I do not game, using it for home office purposes. I find the colour, brightness and all other picture settings to be excellent. I particularly like the adjustable height which is very smooth and a one finger process thanks to an ingenious gas shock system. My resolution setting is 3008x1692, 4K is too much for everyday but the 4K setting does great for 4K movies. I needed to tweak the desktop icon sizes and set a preset for zoom for often used web pages in Safari settings. I have not tried the LG software because I use Microsoft RDP between the MacBook and my secondary Windows PC. By doing that I did not need to adjust any display settings for the windows PC as it just follows the MacBook settings. Very happy with my purchase decision and that I got a substantial savings by finding the warehouse deal.

Versatile and Future Proof Display

Receive the LG 27UN850 on time, it was easy to assemble and connect with all the connections neatly organized at the back of the screen. I just needed to adjust the screen height to finish the installation. The Quick Setup Guide was easy to follow it shows that three cables came with the display but the DP (DisplayPort) cable was missing. I contacted LG but the support person said "according to the instruction manual the DP cable was not included in the package". In order to get the display handle 4K resolution I had to buy a DP cable -- I am unable to test the video game performance of the display, as I have an older Video Graphics card . Beware that according to LG "Using a DVI to HDMI / DP (DisplayPort) to HDMI cable may cause compatibility issues".
I am satisfied with the performance, color accuracy, looks and combination of inputs (DVI, USB3.0, USBC and DP) . It is definitely a bit pricey but a good choice if one intends to use this display for several years.

Okay so, there are reviews who can analyze the pixels and the colour quality and all that much better than I can. It looks pretty. All crisp and nice yadda yadda yadda. So I’ll review some things that people might not otherwise mention. The listing says it’s white. Cool! I like white appliances. Black is so boring after a while and corporations have long since abandoned the idea of doing anything interesting, so white is the new interesting. Except the stand is that ugly matte silver that no one really wants in their life. The front, as you, unlike me, may notice in the pictures, is black. But the back! Wow! The back, that we for sure spend so much time looking it, as advertised, white.

Okay so does anyone really want a white-framed monitor? I mean, maybe not in practice. I don’t know, I haven’t experienced it. But there’s another thing that might not get mentioned by people who don’t have to sleep in the same room as their monitor.

It exists.

If you need to find it in the dark for some obscure reason, don’t worry, you can. Turn off your computer and the beacons are lit. LG calls for aid. Rohan will ride. I have a really good quality sleep mask. Angled foam cups, truly blackout conditions when wearing it, even in daylight. I can see this monitor bleating its existence to the world in the dead of night. I honestly don’t know what emergency would cause me such need to find my monitor in the night with an eye mask on, but this guy will make sure you can do so.

So yeah, fine, as far as monitors go. I will never understand the undying need of manufacturers to ensure we can find their products deep in the mines of Moria with our eyes closed. While they’re supposed to be off. There’s no way to turn it off, by the way, except for killing power to it entirely.

Great picture quality and the OSD settings are great to adjust to what you are viewing; I used the HDMI ports with a video card from Amazon as well to have a 4 Display Panel.
The price is right for this monitor LG makes great monitors.

LG's monitors are known for their quality hardware, such as the factory-calibrated color display, which is perfect for users who work with visuals. However, the computer software produced by LG is a very poor experience, and both Windows users and macOS users experience a wide variety of software issues. If you care about the software side of the experience, don't consider this monitor.

Love that screen, the size and the quality is perfect. Not a huge fan of the stand but works well. Until it started not working properly. It keeps having these moments where the light/screen goes off and on for EVER... I work from home and this is very annoying as it happens very randomly (during meetings!) and nothing works. The guarantee is up now.. I changed the usb c-usb c cable and tried everything but still having the issue. The screen is great, the life span not so much.

Great news for the LG 27UL500-W 27-inch 4K UHD UltraFine Computer Monitor. I purchased mine as an open box from Amazon Warehouse, and I'm beyond impressed.
