There are some minor issues that LG will hopefully improve on if they decide to produce a follow-up: the design of the stand arm makes it quite annoying to get the display perfectly level (but it stays quite well, so that's mostly a one-time frustration), the auto-sleep/blanking behaviour is too trigger happy and not fast enough to recover (I do a lot of switching between inputs and rebooting, so most people might never notice this), the top and side bezels are super skinny but there's a quarter inch of empty display on those edges which sort of ruins the effect, I'm concerned about the lifespan of the single input/menu/control nub, the alleged "built-in KVM" is a sad joke, and some of the clever features, like dual-display mode, are compromised by requiring LG software *with network access* to work.
That list may seem fairly negative, but again, the advantages far outweigh the problems, and my 5-star ratings stands as my overall impression after a couple of months of daily use.
The monitor is not for competitive or immersive gameplay, but casual or story games it gets the job done with flying colors (pun intended, the colors are amazing out of the box). The double simultaneous inputs from 2 devices work like a marvel as well.
The arm is solid, feels great and effortless, though it doesn't go as high as I'd like, but nothing a piece if wood can't fix.
I went from having 3 screens to 1 and I don't mind at all. Just make sure that if you're on windows, to use fancy zones for a more optimal multitasking environment.
The ASUS PG42UQ (uses an LG C2 OLED panel) has the same screen height, same matte coating, matching borders and both share the same resolution scale on mac. Moving windows between screens feels exactly the same size and dpi:
- The LGs are set to 1440p at 2x dpi, both connected with the 1m+ provided usb-c cables. One of them powers my Macbook by USB-C (96W). The DualUp also acts as KVM so when I switch to the PC input my logitech unifying dongle and usb headset auto switches computers.
- The ASUS is set to 1440p at 1.5x dpi (Mac OS renders it to 5K then scales it down by half so it looks sharp on 4K).
- I combined all monitors in Mac OS midi to create a multi-output sound device, sounds amazing for general purpose.
- LGs color temperature adjust with the OS night time settings, automatic brightness works well, and colors look great out of the box.
*My computers:
- Macbook Pro 14 (M1 Max)
- Windows PC (3080Ti)

This monitor has a high DPI, so the image is very clear; if your eyesight is below average you may need to increase the zoom level in Windows Display Properties or change the font size/zoom level in the various applications.
Brightness and contrast are both excellent.
I have no idea how gaming would look. Movies play very well.
The stand is well built, and with the tension adjustment you can set it to hold the monitor exactly where you move it. (The tension was pre-set correctly in my case.)
The problem with the stand is that you cannot move the monitor down close to the desk. LG support claimed that I could move the monitor down to 1" above the desk, but this is not true. I have the monitor set with a sight tilt, so that the monitor is perpendicular to my eyes. And the lowest I can set the monitor is 2.5" above the desk. Since the monitor is so tall, and also sits 2.5" above the desk, I need to look up quite often. This is a stupid design. They should have designed the main support bar for the arm to be 2.5" shorter, so that the minimum and maximum heights were lower; this would make the monitor much more comfortable to use. I will need to either:
- Buy a new arm; they are about 60 CAD for an arm to support one monitor or 120 CAD to support two. Or
- Cut a hole in the desk and add a piece of wood below the desk that can be the mount point for the clamp of the arm, so that the monitor will be lowered down to slightly above the desk.
Other than the arm not allowing the monitor to move down to the top of the desk, this is an excellent product. Budget an extra 60 CAD to buy an arm/stand with a better range of vertical motion.

I may eventually put this in an arcade cabinet, when the CRT is beyond repair. The size of the monitor will fit most arcade cabinets such as the dynamo hs-5.

Brightness is awesome, colors are awesome. Little bit of bleed through, but nothing to complain about since the price is good for this odd-shaped the beast of a cool niche monitor.
The cheap stand that comes with the monitor does not allow the monitor to rotate 90° that I could figure out, maybe I need to twist a little harder... I believe the extra money for the ergonomic stand allows you to rotate. I don't care because I'm putting this monitor into an arcade cabinet anyways.
This monitor does have a strange native resolution resolution 2560x2880 that cannot be handled by raspberry Pi's that I know of. You probably would need a RPI-5 with external graphics connected via PCIe to obtain native resolution.
1280x1440 may work, and I'll post an update after I do some testing when I get time and I'm sure that information is available online. I plan on putting in a used PC with an Nvidia graphics card just to get native resolution and have CPU processing power for all emulators.
Super awesome monitor! Thank you LG!
