Now that we're in the age of Bluetooth most people no longer need an aux cable, I have Bluetooth headphones that can be plugged in if you run out of juice or if the device doesn't have Bluetooth or the Bluetooth isn't working (or too much interference). As someone who is constantly listening to music having a spare cord around is invaluable. Most newer phones are now headphone port free so the 'USB C' is very handy. It works great as a backup connection for my headphones.

I chose this for my car as my old AUX cable isn't working well anymore. This cable should allow you to play Spotify or your playlist from your phone to the car speakers, with a type C phone plug on one end, and an AUX plug on the other.

Unfortunately, the AUX plug is a few milimetres short and doesn't fit properly in my Toyota standard AUX port, whereas my old cable does and is a few millimetres longer, when I hold the two heads together.

While the product description describes it as 3.5 mm, I'm estimating the plug tip to be a bit shorter than the standard 10-14mm, at roughly 8 mm.

Because the plug is short, it won't pick up any sound, including static. I'm not sure if this was a manufacturing quality issue, or whether this AUX cable is meant to be shorter.

If you're going to buy this plug, I'd recommend measuring your old one, if you have one. If not, I need to recommend buyer beware.

I wanted to see if this product worked and if the quality was any better than bluetooth.

The short answer is: No. There is no noticeable difference.

You can use this to connect an iphone15/ipad or android phone to a portable speaker or in your car through the AUX connection and save a little bit on battery power, but then you are tethered by a 3 foot cord.

It is so much easier to roam around and socialize with your device in hand, rather than plug in.

I think this cord was really meant for older cars/speakers, to make them forward compatible with today's modern devices. And this adapter certainly does achieve that.

I tried this simple USB-C to 3.5mm audio cable with my Mac mini and my iPad Pro and it worked well with both. The sound was comparable to other cables I've tried with my Bluetooth headphones in wired mode. The connectors look well-made and I hope the cable will last for plenty of uses.
