I was looking for a backup camera and front camera for my older 2008 car. I was looking at changing out my built in radio with a Android screen, but I couldn't justify almost $1000 (installed) for such an old car. I saw this Lamtto device on a youtube channel and thought this would be great. For less than $200CDN, I got a front camera and backup camera, Bluetooth that worked with my Aux port and Android Auto for directions! I was very happy, easy to install.

I got this in Nov 2023, and I live in Calgary, AB and it gets cold (-30 Celcius), I wasn't sure if it would work in the cold. I was happy that it did. Just recently the unit stopped working and I couldn't get it to respond. I emailed support and they got back to me the next day with some troubleshooting tips and we got it working again. So overall great product with great support and did everything I wanted. So I am a happy camper. Great for any older car without the new HiTech features.

Bought specifically for the rear camera function, one thing they dont really state on the ad is that you have to wire the power line to your back up lights, i guess this is typical of most rear cameras unless its battery powered. But to say that part was easy would be false, there are plenty of videos on how to do this, but typically you can get someone (what i did) who works at a car audio place to just do the wiring for cheap. Ive had it for a month now and its turned my big work van into a much safer vehicle, between the wireless display for the phones, google maps and calls and the back up cam its become very usefull to me. On a side note if your planning on mounting this on your license plate you will need to get a license plate mount, the one that it comes with although Im sure has a purpose i couldn't seem to figure out how exactly it was intended to be used for.

I LOVE this thing!! It’s easy to place down and to move due to the adhesive bottom. The glue on it is strong, it doesn’t fall off when I drive and hit bumps, but it’s still easy to move and adjust when needed.

The camera quality is amazing! Clear pictures with no lag what so ever. Always records as long as the car is on, you can choose to look out the camera instead of having the display for music or gps up as well which I really like.

The gps is also very helpful, you’ll always be able to tell where you’re at and if you have locations saved it will automatically give you the option to set the gps to the location when you start your car.

The Bluetooth connectivity is also very nice, it connects automatically and I don’t have to fight with it to connect which I love. I have an iPhone so I mostly use CarPlay, but there’s also a casting option if your passenger wants to watch a movie or something, absolutely amazing.

SEPT 2023 UPDATE - After a couple months experience, I can report that I still like the device but here are a few tips that may help others.

First, while the unit always connects fine during a multi-stop trip when the last wifi connection was also to the unit, if my phone has connected to another wifi source since I was last in my car, it does not always connect automatically. For example, my car is parked close enough to my house that my iPhone 12 is still connected to my house wifi when I get in the car and the unit does not always connect. This is despite my phone wifi settings showing that the unit's short-range wifi and bluetooth connections are connected.

What I found solves this is for me to turn off the wifi on my iphone before I walk outside and get in the car. Then get in and start the car. Then turn my phone wifi back on. Then wait for a pop up on my phone asking to connect Carplay wifi and click yes. If it still hasn't connected, briefly unplug the power cord to power cycle the unit and it will connect.

My second tip concerns using the Sirius XM iOS app. Not the fault of the Carplay unit, but the Sirius XM iOS app has a bug where unless it has been fully closed (not just stopped) on your phone before launching it in Carplay, it will be playing the last station used but when you hit the Favorites button, nothing happens and your list of Favorite stations won't come up.

To solve this, first launch the Sirius XM app directly on your phone and then swipe up to stop it. Original review: My 2014 E63 Mercedes had a fairly small screen for the Sirius XM/Nav/Backup Camera, and Mercedes stopped supporting the internet connectivity for new owners, so I decided to bypass it with one of these. As you can see from the photo, it is a good size fit and good appearance (I don't use the forward dash camera and didn't want it on top of the dash).

Installation is fairly straightforward. I had to take the inner trunk liner off to connect the reverse camera wire to the reverse light wire and needed a trim pry tool and used an electrical tap that doesn't fully cut the factory wire--important. The supplied cable was just long enough to reach the dash from the trunk. I needed another USB power port for my phone mount/charger so instead of using the supplied lighter socket power cord I used a dual USB-A lighter socket and bought a 6-ft USB-C to USB-A cable (note-a dual USB-C socket charger doesn't seem to work).

Operation is great with my iPhone 12, I turned on the microphone and use no touch voice commands with Siri and Google. Apple maps and Google maps work great for navigation either full screen or half screen. I use SiriusXM IOS app fine, Flacbox App to play local FLAC music files, and even Amazon Music app.

In my case, the key was to get audio output via Bluetooth to play all sound through my car speakers because my car did not have an aux port and I didn't want to use an FM connection. The way to do it is after you complete the Bluetooth setup, go to Airplay function and set up the secondary Wifi connection between the device and your phone. After that, go back and do a second Bluetooth on your phone that connects to your car. Boom, you have sound via your car's audio system! I think some cheaper versions of this device don't do this and only give you audio output via aux port or FM connection. If you get a weird device unsupported message the first time or it doesn't connect to your phone immediately upon starting the car, just drive a few miles and it should suddenly start working. Hopefully a future firmware update will eliminate any such connection delays.

I guess my only long-term concern is that you hear stories that after a periodic IOS update (IOS 17 is coming), Apple has been known to render certain third-party devices inoperative. Maybe Bluetooth devices are an exception and I shouldn't worry but I hope the seller can give some assurance that if this were to ever happen, new device firmware could be downloaded online to an SD card so that this device doesn't ever become a brick that is adhered to our dashboards.

Overall, I am satisfied and a firmware update that eliminates any connection delay on start-up would make it even better!

SEPT 2023 UPDATE - After a couple months experience, I can report that I still like the device but here are a few tips that may help others.

First, while the unit always connects fine during a multi-stop trip when the last wifi connection was also to the unit, if my phone has connected to another wifi source since I was last in my car, it does not always connect automatically. For example, my car is parked close enough to my house that my iPhone 12 is still connected to my house wifi when I get in the car and the unit does not always connect. This is despite my phone wifi settings showing that the unit's short-range wifi and bluetooth connections are connected.

What I found solves this is for me to turn off the wifi on my iphone before I walk outside and get in the car. Then get in and start the car. Then turn my phone wifi back on. Then wait for a pop up on my phone asking to connect Carplay wifi and click yes. If it still hasn't connected, briefly unplug the power cord to power cycle the unit and it will connect.

My second tip concerns using the Sirius XM iOS app. Not the fault of the Carplay unit, but the Sirius XM iOS app has a bug where unless it has been fully closed (not just stopped) on your phone before launching it in Carplay, it will be playing the last station used but when you hit the Favorites button, nothing happens and your list of Favorite stations won't come up.

To solve this, first launch the Sirius XM app directly on your phone and then swipe up to stop it. My experience with the LAMTTO 9.26" Wireless Car Stereo Apple Carplay with 2.5K Dash Cam and 1080P Backup Camera has been fairly positive overall.

The installation process was straightforward, with easy wiring and seamless pairing with the aux in port on my existing radio system. The heads-up display looks impressive and functions well, adding a modern touch to my car's interior.

The sound quality and microphone performance are satisfactory, though not quite on par with factory-built units. However, they serve their purpose adequately for everyday use.

The convenience of Carplay with our iPhones is a major highlight, eliminating the need to constantly plug in our phones. This feature is particularly appreciated by my wife, who prefers keeping her phone in her pocket or purse.

However, there are a couple of drawbacks worth mentioning. The radio transmitter proved to be ineffective, failing to deliver a clear signal regardless of the station we tried. Additionally, the mount hardware leaves something to be desired; while suitable for windshield attachment, it poses challenges if placed in front of the dash, obstructing the view of the front camera.

Despite these drawbacks, considering the price point and the ability to add Carplay to older vehicles lacking compatible radio systems, the LAMTTO unit offers excellent value and functionality for those seeking an upgrade.

This thing sucks at literally just about everything it does. Oh. It has android play alright. But here are some of the biggest issues I have faced with this giant inhumanity to man!

- One! The screen is huge! This may seem like a good thing...but it seems to have trouble holding on to the window because it is so ginormous! The included suction cup doesn't suction to the window. The only thing it sucks is being a suction cup! It continually falls off since the screen is so big and there is no counterweight to prevent it from bouncing which is inevitable in a vehicle. I tried using the dash attachment. But guess what!!! It falls off too! You think you'd be able to use the dash attachment on the window. That seems like it would work best! No bounce. A large sticly surface area. It seems it would work great! But no...the screen has no orientation flip!!!! I mean come on!!! Isn't that like, the first thing you would expect from something with a screen? Is a way to reorient it? Nope. Thats not an option. One orientation only! That...is a huge pain in the ass as now I have to mount it a very particular way or its upside down! The picky piece of junk just can't rotate? Why not! Why can't I rotate the screen!?!?!

- Two! The cameras are nothing to say about. They look good enough sure...but are nothing fancier than you average consumer grade cameras you can probably find for a cheaper price. The hassle of mounting them. Wiring them in. And using them for quality no better than a bargain brand camera system. It just isn't worth the price if you are look for a back up and dash system.

- Three! Wiring. This has seriously got to be the worst design I have ever seen when it comes to wiring. The plug wire it comes with...is long as ever. But the rear camera line is just barely long enough that it has tension on it. The whole design is a mess. And if you want an aux cord. Now you have to run that as well. Three wires coming from the device which has no real good way of plugging them in! Where do the cords plug in to? The bottom? Which would make more sense? No! The side! So now you have wires sticking out the side a d running down the whole length of your car to the center console and to the trunk if you put the rear camera in. That is a HUGE pain in the ass! I have freaking wires everywhere and it just looks unappealing and unpresentable. And they get in the way constantly! Have fun trying to figure out how to run the cable so they aren't in the way without disassembling the entire car first! My previous car had a bluetooth cassette in it and it brought all the modern luxeries to my car from the 90s all without any wires! I could use music and maps and everything else with no worries of how I was gonna mount any crazy stuff. Just use my phone and the cassette! And it sounded great! Which leads into my next point!

- Four! The sound! Dear lord the sound! If you have aux in. Prepare to hear a loud high pitched humming sound from the device constantly. If no music is playing or very little sound is coming through...you will hear the buzzing sound. It's soooo annoying this is even a thing. Again....my car from the 90s with its bluetooth cassette not only didn't have wires. It also didn't hum incessantly like this does. This thing makes me shut off my system if I am not listening to music as I can't keep it on or I hear humming. I am unsure if it is a ground loop cause by bad shielding or something...but I even used a different aux cord and it still hums.

Overall...I cannot recommend this product. It has too many issues. To many frustrations and is overall too pricey for what it does and how it does it. It is not worth it to me and I can say for a fact will probably just as annoying to the next person on her. Steer clear and find something else!
