The PORTRA 400 is the world's finest grain high-speed color negative film. At true ISO 400 speed, this film delivers spectacular skin tones plus exceptional color saturation over a wide range of lighting conditions. For years, professional photographers have preferred Kodak PROFESSIONAL PORTRA Films because of their consistently smooth, natural reproduction of the full range of skin tones. In that same tradition, the new PORTRA 400 Film is the ideal choice for portrait and fashion photography, as well as for nature, travel and outdoor photography, where the action is fast or the lighting can't be controlled.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
The color rendition is balanced for skin tones, giving flattering and realistic portraits, or, in general, just pictures of people. Being medium format, the grain is invisible at any realistic enlargement. The ISO 400 speed allows for fast shutter speeds, meaning hand held (as opposed to tripod) photography is practical.
This is a great color film. I use it in my Yashica TLR and Hasselblad 500CM. I highly recommend this film for anyone who still shoots 120 film and also shoots color.
There's almost 1,000 reviews for this film. What could I possibly add? Nothing new. But here's my review anyway:
The film is great. It has the perfect amount of grain to it, the colors are awesome, and it develops easily using a 2 bath process. This film is the first time I ever developed my own film; and it was super easy to do following the instructions. So, if you're worried about your film turning out badly because you have never developed before: don't worry so much about it. This film is easy to work with, and develops easily.
This film stock never disappoints! I’m a location portrait photographer and I work with unpredictable light. Since my tutor told me about this stock years ago, I’ve probably only had 1 mishap, and that was for not storing exposed film in the fridge! No matter how bad you think the shoot goes, this film performs on the job, and renders beautiful tones post dev/scanned. It’s a winner.
