I remember, as a child, the excitement when my father brought home our first Polaroid instant camera. The shear joy of taking a picture, removing it from the camera and then waiting for the picture to develop before removing the paper cover to reveal the print. The quality wasn't great, but the ability to see the print right away was addictive. Now, nearly 50 years later instant photography has finally been perfected. Of course it's not the same process but the finished result is beautiful, bright, and clean prints.
This Kodak printer has a lot going for it. First, it's small, portable and very simple to set up and use.. It comes with a cartridge of 8 3"x3" photos and extra cartridges of 30 prints are readily available (with 2 coming with the deluxe package). I ordered the kit which comes with 2 30 print cartridges, a carrying case, a picture album and a whole raft of other accessories.
The setup couldn't be simpler. Download the Kodak app, Turn on the printer and you'll be able to pair the camera with the phone's Bluetooth. Then you'll select a picture from your phones storage, edit it and tell it to print. The camera uses a 4 pass dye sublimation process. That means that it lays sequentially 3 layers of colors ( the 3 primaries like you learned in grade school), one on top of the previous and a 4th lamination coat. With each pass the picture emerges from the printer and gets pulled back in for the next. It's pretty quick and the resulting print is a high gloss, sharp colorful print unlike anything you can get from an inkjet or laser printer.
I love everything about this printer except for the 3"x3" print. I wish that the prints were 4"x6" or larger. I'm sure that's coming in the near future. But in the meantime, to be able to snap photos with your phone and print them immediately is a miracle all its own, even if the prints are smaller than I would like.

Fun

This Kodak Mini 3 Portable Photo Printer is so fun and handy to use. It's like having the nostalgia of using old polaroid cameras and getting instant photos but without the sting of having to toss some away because something was wrong, and that film was NOT cheap. I love that I could just take photos from my phone and print whatever I want on this instantly. The pics are small at only 3x3 though.

Great For Printing On The Go
Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2024Size: Printer + 68 Sheets + Gift AccessoriesColour Name: BlackVine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I’m old enough to remember when Kodak was THE name in amateur and professional photography. The digital age dawned and they decided not to get involved, resting on their laurels and renewing their commitment to traditional film-based photography. And they pretty much destroyed the company in the process. So, it was quite nostalgic to open this package and look at all the bright yellow/orange boxes with the familiar red logos. (Even knowing full well that anything that bears the Kodak name these days is basically just a licensing play.)
This product is a bit of a hybrid, merging digital photography with traditional instant printing (the thing that we used to depend on Polaroid cameras for). Here, you transfer a digital photo from your phone or tablet to the printer via Bluetooth and it prints in a matter of moments (more or less). The digital transfer operates flawlessly, it’s fun - almost magical - to watch and the print quality is exceptional. This is so easy to use that I didn’t even read the instructions! I turned the printer on, downloaded the app, and connected my iPad wirelessly and easily. And I was able to print my first photo in a just a minute or two. (While I used a tablet, this also works well - and was chiefly designed to be compatible - with phones.)
The printer’s shape evokes a camera, albeit a rather large one, but there is no lens and it’s not capable of taking photos. It’s just for show (and is just large enough to accommodate the cartridges that house the photo paper). They describe this printer as being “pocket sized” and that is a bit of stretch. (It is pocket sized, but only for circus clowns with baggy pants.) It’s definitely portable, but it’s not something that is going to fit in most pockets. It just isn’t. Also, it weighs about a pound when fully loaded, so it’s probably not something you really want to carry around in your pocket, even if you could. No external batteries or power is required here, the internal battery is recharged via USB-C cable. Each regular cartridge delivers ten 3” X 3” photos and the printer ships with a preloaded cartridge already inside. (That cartridge is only good for eight photos, however.) The printer can produce borderless photos or ones with borders.
If you’re inclined to purchase one of these, the value play is definitely to go with the bundle. You not only get the printer and three cartridges good for 60 additional photos, but you get a slew of accessories, some of which are must-haves. There’s a case for the printer and a carry strap. There is a custom-sized acrylic frame and a photo album (it’s likely you do *not* already have 3” x 3’” frames), as well as a photo holder, a wire on which to display your photos, along with a cute retro keychain and some logo magnets. The star of the show, however, are the print cartridges and that – and the printer – is what you’re really paying for.
My only concern with this printer is the cost and continued availability of print cartridges. If this design and technology doesn’t catch on, and they stop producing the cartridges, I’ll be left with a very expensive paperweight… which is something that we no longer use, but which was also quite popular in Kodak’s heyday.

Good clarity prints. Nice form factor. Needs the accessory kit.

If you are ordering this without the accessory kit, think twice. It's a good value and adds to the overall experience of using the printer.
The case is nice and very reminiscent of the old cameras from when I was growing up.
Bluetooth connectivity works well, and the app sets up to communicate with the printer easily.
Prints are clear and high resolution, the printer even warns when an image is lower resolution than recommended. But even those tend to come out nicely.
The 8-print cartridge that ships is good enough to get started and learn how things look, but goes quickly.
The different presentation options offered in the accessory kit is nice, especially the magnets. The acrylic block display looks great and adds a frame depth to the pictures.
With the accessory kit, it's a great setup. Without it, I think you would feel yourself lacking very quickly.
