I purchased this case to protect a Pentax FA*645 300mm F4 telephoto lens I bought used. It fits it like a glove, including the large lens hood. The webbed pocket in the zipped lid holds the lens cap when I'm shooting with it. This is a very good semi-rigid-but-soft case and comes with more ways to carry or secure it than I can count. They thought of everything!
Highly recommended and I'll be sure to check JJC for cases for any of my other lenses that need one.

Secure Hold on a Nikon 24-70 F2.8
The XL Version of the case is what I picked up because I was a little concerned that the L may not be large enough. I'm very happy that I did because I am very pleased. I got this case because I needed something that would securely carry my 24-70 f2.8 lens with the hood attached securely, whilst being small. This bag is made of some good quality material and when I put my lens in, it was a snug fit. It has just enough resistance to hold the lens in place and still making it easy enough to take out. It's not clear in the photo but it does have a double loop on the zip for a lock so if you want to be extra secure on trips for anti tampering. I probably won't use the belt functionality because I don't trust velcro (just me personally) but it has enough clip support to hook it onto a bag if you need to. Will post an update after I take a longer travel trip.

I measured the lens with and without the “tulip” hood attached (both in inches and metric), and noted that the comments for this case specified that since the inner padding is both thick and pliable that the lens diameter can be a little larger than the case’s interior dimensions and still be OK. Since the maximum diameter of my lens is at the front of the hood, that worked out perfectly.
As long as you’re prepared with the correct measurements, you should be able to determine which case/size will be the best fit (literally) for your lens.
This case is not hard, but has structure; it’s somewhere in between. It has significantly more padding than the other choices I looked at. There is a mesh pocket inside the top of the lid. It’s the perfect place to put a silica gel (desiccant) packet to control humidity while in storage.
As close to perfect as I could have hoped!
