i was using the wire stripper that you had to pull to strip. this is SO EASY to use, i appreciated the technology step up so much. you just set up the width of the wire with the yellow part, and stick the wire and clamp together, and its DONE! amazing, and reliable so far. i know ive been living under a rock about this, but i really appreciate this product. it seems durable so far.

Was in process of looking for a good well built automatic wire stripper. I recently purchased a Canadian Tire brand of one of these and the mechanism stopped working and wouldn't cut wires anymore so i wanted a new one to replace the broken one. The same Irwin wire stripper, my local Canadian Tire wanted $52 for one. I went on Amazon and found it cheaper and read the reviews and thought i would make the purchase. By first glance, it looks and feels like to my cheap Canadian Tire one just a different brand with a little better quality. After first use it worked flawlessly, it cut many different gauges of wires with ease and dispenses the wire after it's cut unlike my other one that would get jammed up every time you make a cut of a wire. Haven't used the crimping tool so i can't comment on that as of this review but sure it works.

Pros:
- No need for old manual wire strippers, the tool does it all
- Great comfort grips while using the tool
- Works well for a variety of gauges of wire
- Light weight

Cons:
- Price! Is a little expensive for what you are getting
- Almost the same quality as a cheap one

Overall, the tool works and functions great but it is a little pricey for what you are getting. For the price of this you can buy two cheap ones but you are getting what you are paying for. Quality!

Not sure why, but if you are stripping alot of one size wire ie 18 gauge, this unit does not repeating. It would strip perfectly for 4 or 5 times, then suddenly not cut the casing but slide on it. Then suddenly start stripping again. If you strip alot of wire for harnesses, I would looke for a better one. I thought the IRWIN name would carry this unit.........it didn't

I bought these to replace my self adjusting wire strippers that went missing. I tried and tried but these strippers just slip almost every time. I thought that perhaps I got a defective tool and asked for a replacement but having just read the reviews, my guess is that the replacement will be no better and will have to be sent back. I wish I could find my old ones that worked perfectly 100% of the time over the past 20 years with a lot of use. Do yourself a favor and buy a cheaper cutter and put in some effort or spend more money and get a stripper that works properly.
