Some info you need to know in advance:

Our voice recorder is designed to help users record important information, but we emphasize respecting the privacy rights of others and prohibit unauthorized recording behavior

!!!Please Inform Everyone Present When Using the Voice Recorder

  • Q1: Why is it prohibited to format on a computer?

Its memory format only supports FAT32

Once it is formatted as exFAT/NTFS/APFS memory format on your computer, the system will be incompatible and cause problems such as the inability to record, work, or be recognized by the computer, even "Disk Errors" on the screen

  • Q2: What causes the recording to pause or interruption?

1.While recording, connecting any thing to the voice recorder will cause the recording interruption

2.If you need to record while charging, please turn on the recording before connecting the charger. If you start recording after connecting the charger, recording will not be possible

3. In voice-activated recording mode, pause recording when sound is too low

  • Q3: How to turn on the voice activation function?

1. By default the voice activation is turned off, you can turn it on as per the manual: Change the value of VOR 0 to 1 or 2 only, not recommended higher

2. After voice activation is on, you need to turn on the machine, and it will record in voice activation mode on this occasion

Test for success: the generated recording file starts with V, then it is a recording under voice activation

Note: Voice activation may miss subtle sounds, so it is not recommended for important occasions

  • Q4: Can't find the recording or music files in the voice recorder?

When the recording and music are in different folders, short-press the "MENU" button to switch between the music and recording folder at any time

  • Q5: Unable to connect to my computer?

1. Before connecting it to the computer, please turn it off. When connecting to the computer, please place it smoothly and do not press any buttons. If there is no connection at this point, please wait 10 seconds +

2. Change the port and computer. MAC users: please change to a type-C adapter

3. The computer lacks drivers and cannot recognize any items. Please Google: download a computer drivers

  • Q6: How to get clear recordings?

1. Place the voice recorder stably and avoid rubbing it against other objects, such as hands, clothing, etc

2. Away from sources of noise (e.g. air conditioning, typing, scratching, rubbing or subtle noise that may be generated by running computers)

Advice: Recording in quiet environment

Please note: place the voice recorder on a desktop for recording may pick up a lot of noise conducted from the desktop, just as you would hear a lot of noise with your ear pressed against the desktop. It is recommended to use a soundproof material such as sponge to pad between the machine and the desktop to reduce noise and optimize the recording

  • Q7: I found a recording file when I used the voice recorder for the first time?

If you find a recording file when you use the voice recorder for the first time, the recording button may have been touched accidentally during packaging or transportation. Please rest assured that our principle is to sell only brand new products

  • Q8: Why use a voice recorder when your mobile phone also has a recording function?

Avoid the risk of pausing or losing recordings due to incoming calls or app notifications, etc. Meanwhile, the voice recorder supports 40 hours of recording time and large memory, which is suitable for academic lectures and other occasions that require long time recording

Records close and distant subjects well despite initial setup problems
The Howabo 126GB Digital Voice Recorder with Type-C Port and Metal Housing looks and feels high quality. The recording quality is one of the best I have reviewed so far. The dynamic range is fairly good. This means that it won’t get too distorted when you are speaking to it directly and you will still be able to record normal conversations about 10 feet away or less. I used it to record a live speaker in a fairly big auditorium and the recording was fairly clear. I should also mention that the audio quality from where I was sitting was excellent without any echoes. The manual does not show where the mic is. My tests have shown that the mic is probably in the same direction as the USB-C connector. However, it didn’t start smoothly as all 3 PCs were unable to read the USB drive of the recorder. I followed the reset instructions but it still didn’t work. Out of desperation, I left the USB cable connected for a few hours to charge it up fully. Fortunately, the charging seems to have helped and the recorder started to behave itself.I also encountered another problem when it did not create a file after recording. I was able to solve this problem by deleting all the recordings on the recorder. In summary, despite the above-average recording quality, the unit did not work out of the box. I had to reset it, charge it, and delete all the recordings for it to work properly. To change the settings on the recorder, one can edit a file on the recorder named “2159-RECSET.txt”. After playing around with the settings, it appears the default or recommended settings are the best ones and the only settings I changed were the date and time settings. What I like:- High-quality smooth metal casing- Recording quality of close and distant subjects (good dynamic range)- Easy to play and download the recorded files- Small sizeWhat I don’t like:- Did not work out of the box- The recording does not start immediately after the recording switch is flipped. There is a delay.- Sometimes you get echoes when recording distant subjects when the recorder is unable to process the weak audio signal properly. In conclusion, I like this recorder despite the initial hiccups. It has become fairly stable after reset and recharge. Every recorder I have tested is capable of recording close subjects but very few would do well on distant subjects. Considering it has a 126GB storage capacity, I think the $54.99 selling price is justified.

Teacher speaks fast and gives a lot of information. Sometimes it's hard to remember everything and to take notes at the same time. That voice recorder is a life saver. It has 128gb of storage which is a lot. It's a great value overall. You have earphones included with it so that you can listen to your recording at any time. It's small and compact compared to what we used to have back in the days. Long lasting battery and can record for a lot of hours without interruption. All accessories included so you can use it right out of the box.

There is a bit of a learning curve here. I'm not sure about the battery life. Ours switches off fairly quickly, and is useful for short bursts of recording. I've played with it, but still haven't quite figured it out. I'm fairly tech savvy, just not sure what I'm doing wrong here.
To set it up, you will need to connected it to a laptop, and install software. It's a fairly simple storage system, and sound files can be played without downloading additional audio software. The additional tech may be a problem for some users.
Overall, it does about the same job that your phone would do with an app, but for security, privacy or just to keep it hidden, this will work. It fits easily into your hand or pocket, and looks like a simple usb storage device. Sound quality is decent. Just be careful about movement, because the mic is sensitive, so if you are carrying it, it will pic up brushing noises and rustling of fabric over outside sounds.

In the past I have used a mini tape recorder for class notes and study review. I decided to jump into the current century and order this voice recorder.

The instructions for the set up are thorough. Note the that 2159-RECSET file is an actual .txt file. That took a minute to figure out, but once I did, I was able to set the device to voice activation. This works really well. For a person who is used to having to click on and off on the recorder, this voice activation feature is a big improvement, and keeps that noise from being an interruption in the classroom.

The playback quality for spoken note taking is excellent. No hiss, buzz or white noise. I did not test with music as I only need this for study notes and class note recording of voices.

One thing that is not mentioned but is a real plus is the little USBA to USBC adapter. This is a separate little dongle-like adapter that can also be used for any A to C translation.

This device is very small and slips easily into my wallet, and takes up almost no desk space. Perhaps my experience is overstated since I am coming from the dark ages of recording to the current epoch, however this device is easy to use, super handy and holds the equivalent of multiple mini tapes without having to haul around the tapes.

I did a quick search and found a number of other similar devices at a similar price point, so at the time of this review the price is $55 CDN and for me, this seems like good value for the money.

Howabo Digital Voice Recorder is very compact in size, has a large storage capacity, and features a USB-c port with metal housing. The recorder itself works well and all functions are adjusted based on a text file. It works but I don't understand why not make a graphical user interface to do this. Access recording will either need a computer or you will need to use the included headset with line-in control.
I think it is best fit for situations where you only need to record and need to record for a period of time that it is not feasible for a smartphone to do the same. Also checking audio and playback is not as important to you. It is easy to carry the recorder but lugging around all the accessories is a pain. It can be used as a temporary file storage for small files. I say small files because it is not as speedy to read and write.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sleek, Simple, and Efficient: A Review of the 126GB Digital Voice Recorder
Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2024
Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
In the world of digital voice recorders, finding one that ticks all the boxes can be tough, but this sleek model with a USB-C port and metal housing comes pretty close. The recorder's design is minimalistic and modern, with a focus on ease of use and durability. It comes fully equipped with a digital recorder, necessary cables and adapters, a headphone playback device, headphones, and a strap—a comprehensive kit for any professional or student.

The size and weight of the recorder are ideal for those on the move. It fits comfortably in any pocket or bag, and you barely notice it's there. Despite its compact size, it doesn't skimp on power. The battery life is impressive, allowing for up to 40 hours of recording, which is fantastic for long sessions without access to a charger.

With 126GB of internal memory, you won’t run out of space anytime soon, making it perfect for recording hours of audio. The operational mechanics are simple yet effective: a switch to turn on and off, though there is a slight delay when starting the recording. This isn’t a major issue but something to be mindful of during sudden starts.

Compatibility and data transfer are as user-friendly as it gets. I tested it on a Windows 10 system via a USB-2 connection and encountered no problems—no drivers, no fuss. If you prefer a more intimate review of your recordings, using the headphone playback device provides a private listening experience.

This recorder excels in settings like meetings, training sessions, interviews, and presentations, where clarity and reliability are key. It's not designed for rough environments, and the memory is fixed, but for standard recording tasks, it performs superbly. Overall, this is a stellar device for anyone looking to record high-quality audio with minimal effort and maximum reliability.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
