Sorry for the delay in reviews, its taken me awhile to build the surround, the fireplace works as advertised, looks amazing, simple to install. If you are installing in wall be very careful of dimensions, I worked from instruction manual and found a mistake in the insert height, its not 19 inches someone made a mistake in converting from metric I’m assuming. It’s definitely 18 inches, my mistake but it took me awhile to construct outside and i didnt want to take out of box during construction, so it didnt get damaged.

Having tried other faux log fire units, this one is more realistic by far! Some don’t even make the effort to make them look real, this unit does, the logs are good quality and well made and the flames at the back are realistic due to its unique rotary reflector unit inside, the flames are proper orange for the default fire mode (not red or other colour) as well as varieties using the colours it has inside, they are all fun and look nice for certain moods, but if it’s realistic flame look you seek, this is what you are looking for I expect. We were so impressed by the look and operation of this unit we bought another one.
The child lock is a big selling point for us and that the control panel lights go out when it’s in use so children are not attracted to the hidden touch buttons and it looks much nicer that way too. The heater part is ok and does a fair job for a small fan heater, but we didn’t buy it to heat the room, but for the aesthetic cosy fireplace look. Very happy with it.
The optional crystal look is ok if that’s what you want, we are only interested in the log look. This fireplace has depth! it’s a 6 inch deep model which on my opinion is superior to the thin 4 inch slimline units that have little depth at all, either in reality or appearance. I would not buy a slimline fireplace or recommend one as I have yet to see one that looks as nice as this near 6 inch deep Homedex unit does. Thoroughly recommend
This was not part of any promotion or kick back, I am simply impressed with these fires and feel people should know before they buy a unit what they are getting.

Taking it out of the box the power cord had paint on it and the back bar attached so it looked like it was previously used. We mainly wanted an electric fireplace for looks, not for heat. We have used the heater a few times, it is fine, the fan is medium noisy. But we like having the fireplace to look at, it makes the room cozy, has held up well, and was straightforward to install. When you are very close to the fireplace, there is a quiet hum audible, the motor that turns something inside related the "flames." As others have said, wish the display lights on the front didn't flash on every few minutes, but it is not a deal breaker. I would recommend this, good purchase for the price and the glass beads are a great option.

It’s easy to use with buttons inconspicuously hidden on the bottom right of the glass and easy to install as long as you follow the instructions and safety code in the instructions manual.  This was a big purchase for me so I wanted to get it right. I was researching insert fireplaces for over two months. There weren't any that I found in stores so I had to take a chance online. I still like to touch and feel my purchases so this was a big deal for me. I decided on this one. It has been in use for 3 weeks send fit my needs snd space perfectly!

Packaging and Shipping- Arrived a day earlier than expected, no complaints there. Package was cared for when wrapped. No parts were broken and there was some foam to protect the sides. It was a heavy lift, not good for a single woman unless you have a dolly.

Design - Very modern and dimensions are according to what's listed. You can mount to the wall and it won't be very noticeable or you can place in insert. It is NOT flesh mount. I kept the logs and added the crystals. It's so nice!

Heat Output - Room is sizeable due to open floor plan (see photo). I didn't purchase to be the only heat source. When I have the heat and Central HVAC unit on, it gets quite warm. You can turn off heat output if needed. My unit does not make random noises when on. It is a slight humming sound that can not be heard over volume level three-four from my TV remote.

Remote - Play with it a little and you can do whatever you want. It doesn't come with directions so you have to just sit with it and play for a bit. You can change the temperature, color display, flame level, etc. (see video) Funny thing, my robot vacuum is powered on by the fireplace remote. I do have to return the vaccuum to its docking station once I have my fireplace controls where I want them.

If you are torn between which unit to get, this is great for the price and design. Good luck!

Maybe it is just the room lighting, but now I have a heater in a box (the defective unit) and a below average unit in my wall, that appears to be off, when the room lights are on. I would return the unit, but they want you to pay for the shipping!

Overall, I just wasted my money. Just by an RW Flame or Touchstone, or take your risk and hope to get a working unit with this company.

The flames are barely visible with the lights on, and barely dance. If all I wanted was an effective heater, there were many less expensive options.

FINAL UPDATE:
I really wanted to give these guys a good review.. the fireplace looks great, very sleek and reasonably realistic looking flames. BUT I received two issues with the exact same issue, which the seller has refused to acknowledge. The attached photo is what the seller instructed me to do, for both units, despite the fact that I have described an issue that can not be attributed to these components. The seller had been very responsive and seemed intent on helping, even sending me a replacement unit, but as I said the replacement had the exact same issue. It has now been days since the seller has responded to me and the fireplace does not seem safe to use.

The issue: once the fireplace reaches the set temperature, it will switch back and forth between fan speeds, causing the lights in the house to dim and brighten repeatedly, as the amount of current being drawn is changing over and over, usually occurring for 30+ seconds before it turns off. This issue also appears when the heater attempts to turn back on, once the temperature sensor detects the room temperature is too low. I have tried describing this to the seller repeatedly to no avail. I am at the point where I am hoping Amazon will help as this unit was nearly $300 when I bought it and don’t find it safe to use with the issues with the temperature sensor/switch on the heater.

My recommendation, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER.

AND YET ANOTHER UPDATE: this new unit has started to have to same issues as the original one with the switch continuously flipping on/off until a button on the remote is pressed. Frankly, I’m a bit torn about this. Customer service was excellent and it looks really nice. It’s just unfortunate that the primary function of the fireplace (the heater) has a consistently faulty switch. I’m not really sure what to do with this purchase…

UPDATE: I contacted customer service and they were surprisingly prompt with their response. They are based in China so communications are a bit slow (since time zones are pretty much flipped) but they have offered solutions to the issues (which didn’t work) and then offered to replace it. I am currently waiting for them to send the new unit so that I can get it installed. Hopefully the new unit doesn’t have the same issues.

The looks of the fireplace are quite nice. The videos others have uploaded are representative of the flames you will get which are not too real but not unattractive.

The heat output is excellent.

Now for the issues.. There’s either a fan or a motor in the unit that makes a quite, but noticeable, grinding sound. In addition, the unit seemingly randomly “clicks” as if it is cycling through the fan speeds at random and never settling on one. I’ve messaged the seller in regards to the issues, so hopefully they get back to me and hopefully they can verify that it is an issue with my specific unit.

As for now, I do not recommend buying this fireplace - at least not until I hear back from the seller and have the issues addressed.

I am at the point where I am hoping Amazon will help as this unit was nearly $300 when I bought it and don’t find it safe to use with the issues with the temperature sensor/switch on the heater.

My recommendation, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER.

AND YET ANOTHER UPDATE: this new unit has started to have to same issues as the original one with the switch continuously flipping on/off until a button on the remote is pressed. Frankly, I’m a bit torn about this. Customer service was excellent and it looks really nice. It’s just unfortunate that the primary function of the fireplace (the heater) has a consistently faulty switch. I’m not really sure what to do with this purchase…

UPDATE: I contacted customer service and they were surprisingly prompt with their response. They are based in China so communications are a bit slow (since time zones are pretty much flipped) but they have offered solutions to the issues (which didn’t work) and then offered to replace it. I am currently waiting for them to send the new unit so that I can get it installed. Hopefully the new unit doesn’t have the same issues.

The looks of the fireplace are quite nice. The videos others have uploaded are representative of the flames you will get which are not too real but not unattractive.

The heat output is excellent.

Now for the issues.. There’s either a fan or a motor in the unit that makes a quite, but noticeable, grinding sound. In addition, the unit seemingly randomly “clicks” as if it is cycling through the fan speeds at random and never settling on one. I’ve messaged the seller in regards to the issues, so hopefully they get back to me and hopefully they can verify that it is an issue with my specific unit.

As for now, I do not recommend buying this fireplace - at least not until I hear back from the seller and have the issues addressed.

I had a problem with the advertised dimensions of the product, but the seller was quick to respond with the corrections. Installation was not very difficult, but I had removed a previous LP Gas log insert and had to frame for the dimension of this electric insert. before the installation was complete I thought it best to plug the unit in and test it. WOW ! This looks so real . . . . the wife thought I had purchased a new gas log set. This is the most realistic looking electric fireplace insert I have EVER seen ! There are approx 9 light and color settings, built in thermostat, timer, Lo - Hi heat setting and the fan is quite. Heats as well as any other 1500 watt heater. Looks so real the wife is ready to roast marshmallows over it !
Delivery was quick. . . . arrived 4 days before the expected date of arrival.
The price is great !
If any problems do occur I will update this review
As for now, I definitely recommend this as the top choice for an Electric Fireplace Insert !
