About Hikari

Hikari, the "originator" of Species Specific and premium aquatics diets has been copied by many, but our loyal customers know they can always depend on our products to offer their aquatic pets the finest in scientifically balanced nutrition. For almost 140 years we've spent considerable time exploring natural habitats of fish, breeding fish in our own facilities, producing diets in our own factories, processing every shipment through our own facilities and researching the impact our diets have over time. These unique insights into the nutritional needs of fish give a competitive advantage no other fish food maker can duplicate and allow us to produce species specific diets that will not only maintain your aquatic pets' health, but assist you in keeping your aquarium or pond in top form.

We make the health and longevity of the fish and the aquatic environment they live in our first priority. Focusing on bringing about success to the hobbyist through exacting nutrition has allowed us to develop a brand name synonymous with superior quality. Consider using Hikari, because you love your aquatic pets as much as they love you!

RESEARCH

We feel it's our duty to constantly investigate the natural ecology of fish to make the best food for them. Our exploration to Irian Jaya, Lake Malawi in Africa, Guiana highland, the Indian Ocean, the jungle of Southeast Asia and the Holy River Ayeyawady and others, offer us many secrets to fish health, coloration, breeding requirements, water conditions and quality.

SPECIES SPECIFIC DIETS

Hikari offers a wide variety of diets for different species of fish, each offering unique characteristics which enable it to be readily accepted by the specific fish it was developed for, which is where Species Specific originated. This attention to detail allows you to be confident your choice will be quickly devoured by even the most finicky eaters.

TECHNOLOGY

Our first hand experience breeding and raising fish, and the scientific data we can collect during this process, give us a clear road map for future product improvements and enhancements. Hikari uses actual experience and physical practice instead of marketing schemes or unproven theory to develop our premium aquatic diets!

They were delivered early, so that's a plus. As with other reviewers, I was disappointed in the convex bottom so there is a little less than expected. My biggest problem was that it came without a lid. I have no way to reseal it so I will have to get a freezer bag. My Guppies, Shrimp and Bata fish all seem to like them. I've dealt with other manufactures and the product seems comparable, so no complaints there. It's meant to be a treat, in my opinion so I don't feed them regularly. All told, I stick to my 4 star rating. This product is good. (except for the packaging BS)

I ordered this as a supplement to live feed for my dwarf pea puffer and was worried that she wouldn't take it. So far so good, she takes these worms on tweezers twice a day in addition to live brine shrimp culture I have. She likes to hunt, but is happy to accept these in a pinch.

They do rehydrate immediately once exposed to water, which likely increases the acceptance rate for her. This bottle will definitely will last me a while - she only needs a few a feeding. Will definately rebuy when needed!

Well, I think my fishes should be the one to write this review, and if they were, I'm pretty sure they would have written how much they love this product, and just how fast they finish the food. I'm feeding this, hikari tubiflex, and hikari shrimps for about 4 weeks now. I keep changing their food. Who likes daal chawal for life??? 😂
Anyway, I'll tell you the result and let that speak for itself. My fish are getting healthier by day and more vibrant in their colors, the food doesn't produce high levels/ spikes of ammonia in water. So, I don't have to stress over feeding time. But it's always a good idea to remove excess food after 10-15 minutes and I do that.
The three hikari products together cost me close to Rs. 4500/-, and seems pretty steep. But I'm happy to see my fish happy and healthy. It's totally worth it.
P.S. Hikari tubiflex is costliest. And my fishes eat those from my hand like spoiled pampered brats. May be they are. 😂

Fish love these. When I ran out of Hikari Blood Worms I bought Tetra Blood Worms to try it out since it was cheap and on sale. I fed it to a variety of fish including bettas and they did not eat it. Should not have switched from an already great product. Sticking to Hikari Blood Worms from now on, more expensive but well worth it.
