It's insane how well built this stand is for the price. The boom adjusts with one knob and has a quick detach cam lock from the main stand body and it's built out of heavier gauge tubing than the cheap stands. The kicker is these aren't even very expensive, so I'll for sure be adding a few more to my arsenal in the future.
Very surprised of the quality, especially at that price. There are more heavy/stable bases and obviously more features on pricier stands but if like me, all you need is for your mic to stay where you set it at, this is a very solid option. The boom tightening mechanism uses a kind of dented metal to lock it in place and the big knob is very easy and satisfying to use. I have 2x LA-220 as overheads in my studio and the stands haven't sag at all.
This is an excellent product. Well constructed that is typical for the Hercules product line. This particular model has a very good price point. I am using a Rode NT1 mic that is reasonably heavy and it hold the mic well. even at 80% extension of the boom arm. The weighted boom end should have a metal clip so that some users who use the full boom extension can add a small nylon bag with a counterweight for added security. As with any mic setup, it is preferable that you position one of the legs of the stand based directly under the mic weight for added assurance against tipping. I have 2 minor negatives . 1) the legs do not lock in place so you have to b e mindful that they are in position before adding you mic . 2) it would be nice if the boom telescoped so you could get another 2 feet or so in certain applications where needed. These features of course come in a m ic stand that costs about twice the price.
For the price point they did a great job here and I will give them a full 5 stars. ... Enjoy this purchase ...
I replaced a worn tripod stand that had begun slipping. I use the boom to attach my iPad. This stand is very stable and the boom secures tightly. I was pleased with the rapid shipping and hope to use this stand for many years.
