Harley Laroux, Miss Ma'am, you've done it again.
How the hell am I supposed to explain how good you are at writing??? Like, I'm not the writer, I can't even begin to put into words how much I love this freaking book.
Let's lay out why this book is incredible:
1. Writing Style
- Exceptional flow
- Narrative voices vary enough to make it believable that the reader is reading the accounts of two separate characters
- Fabulous use of adjectives and descriptive phrases to provide imagery for the reader
2. Plot and Plot Execution
- Plot is complex, layered, and interesting enough to keep the reader engaged
- Plot lines are well thought out and not rushed
- Pacing matches what a book of this length and story should have
- Plot execution is flawless, little to no filler passages or unnecessary chapters, no rushed endings
3. Characters
- Zane and Juniper are dynamic characters with complex backgrounds and are superbly matched
- The chemistry between the characters is immaculate
- Phenomenal character arcs and details enhance the story
- Narrative style furthers readers' understanding of the characters
- Juniper and Zane are not stereotypical by any means
4. Smut and Spice
- Fantastic spice that pushes the plot forward instead of detracting from the story
- Extremely well-written
- FINALLY A BOOK WHERE THEY'RE BOTH SWITCHES!!!!!!!!!
- Amazing use of kinks
- Intersection of violence, emotions, sex, and love is very well executed
5. Setting
- The imagery provided by the great writing provides an incredible view into the setting of the story
- I love Abelaum

Eines Tages lässt Juniper sich schließlich auf einen Handel mit Zane ein: Er helfe ihr bei ihrem Rachefeldzug gegen den Kult und er bekomme ihre Seele. Ein fairer Deal, oder?
𝓕𝓪𝔃𝓲𝓽: Die Story findet vor und während der Geschehnisse des ersten Bands statt, weshalb ich empfehle "Her Soul to take" davor zu lesen. Ich finde es cool, da wir dadurch mehr Details bekommen und manches besser verstehen oder aus anderen Winkeln betrachten können.
Abelbaum wirkt mit seinen Kreaturen und Atmosphäre wieder düster und mysteriös. Ich liebe das Setting und die Idee dahinter nach wie vor - aber - ich würde da definitiv lieber nachts im Haus bleiben wollen und ordentlich räuchern. Just saying.
Juniper könnte meiner Meinung nach selbst eine Dämonin sein, weil sie Zane ebenbürtig ist. Sie ist eine kluge Spielerin, stur und weiß, wie sie mit ihm umzugehen hat. Zane ist lockerer, genießt es sie zu ärgern und gibt ihr was sie braucht, nimmt aber im Gegenzug von ihr, was er will.
Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass die Kombination nicht für jedermann ist, zumal es blutig und rau zugeht, aber ich hätte es schade gefunden, wenn es anders wäre, da es perfekt zu den Charakteren gepasst hat.
Eine Weiterempfehlung an Horror-Paranormal Fans, ich bin gespannt auf den letzten Band! Lest die Triggerwarnung.
