This book? It was a rough go for me. To the point that I was considering adding it to my DNF and giving up on the series because of how much I had to slog through the first half of the book. All the momentum that we finished off with in Crown of Midnight? Say goodbye to that.

Instead, say hello to a slow dredge into new character introductions, new places in this world, and an overall feeling of oh my god, please, something interesting happen. To be fair, I didn't mind the new characters...most of them anyway. There's one new POV we get that's so replete with pick me energy that every time I came to their chapters, I came to a grinding halt.

But then the book got good. Like good, good, and I blasted through the last bit of it like nothing. The plot started moving, characters made decisions, and it was a whirlwind of here we go! For a while, it was in the three star category for me, but it launched itself into four stars nonetheless.

One thing I really enjoyed is that I finally got to see Celaena as she was set up to be in the first book. Dangerous, powerful, badass. Why it took two and a half books to get us here, I have no clue. But her character felt more solid now than it has. There wasn't as much wishy-washiness here, and maybe that's because she's finally accepting who she is. I don't know, but it was good.

So, now, here I go into book four, hoping against hope that things continue to be awesome.

Having read and been in love with fantasy literally my whole life, I'm shocked that I've never heard of ToG!

Heir of Fire was just amazing. The world building, the character developments, the shocks and twists of plots, and soooooo many questions! I haven't read TAB yet but plan to next and hopefully have so many questions answered. Celaena made me laugh and cry, she made my toes curl, my breath hitch, and had me cheering. Reading her transform from a broken girl to the queen she's meant to be was beautiful. @sarahjmaas did a fantastic job of portraying just how broken she was.

In Heir of Fire, we still also follow Chaol and Dorian while they deal with the repercussions of Chaol's decision to send Celaena away. We meet new characters too, Aideon, Manon, and Sorscha. Once again, Sarah J. Maas ends the book with so many twists and WTF moments but I can't wait to read TAB and start on Queen of Shadows.

Amazing, loved it. I also agree with some reviews that the chapter switching between all the characters took some time for me to appreciate, but it took no time at all for me to fall in love with each character no matter the side they fight for. Buying the next book asap!

4.5 ⭐️

The last quarter of this book, 10 out of 10. But I have to be honest I was resisting hard at first. All the new characters. The back and forth between places and narration was taking me out of it at times. The story of Manon & the witches I felt could have been narrowed down to less. I actually wanted more of Aelin & Rowan (once he grew on me). At the end now I feel like I just want more as things were really getting good.

« It was a message to the world. Aelin was a warrior, able to fight with blade or magic. And she was done with hiding. »

Okay. Where do I start? To be honest, I wasn't into it the first few pages because it was slow. I even stopped for a week, which made me have to restart again. But as the story progresses, I wanted to devour it. I love the new world building. It would've help though if Sarah provides a map of Wendlyn. Am I right? (But I'm guessing that would be insignificant now. haha) Anyways, in Heir of Fire, you're introduced to new characters who are absolutely fantastic. The switching POVs made me irritated at times and made just want to skip to Celaena's, Chaol's and Dorian's, but they helped with the whole story. The book contained more/less romance, and is mainly focused on the character development. Overall, it's that book that stirs that frantic, under-your-skin obsession, and is absolutely wonderful.

Essa é minha capa favorita das novas edições, pois além de ser linda temos Rowan voando em cima e Abraxos embaixo.
livro é um paperback como qualquer outro, não é soft touch (glória a deus) e o mapa de dentro pisa no da edição brasileira.

This book is so jam packed with action, emotion and overall addiction. I could not put this book down!

The characters are brilliant and their personalities all really shine through. Each character shows so much depth and the interactions and banter are written so well. The romances in this book however didn't really flow for me and I wasn't experiencing much chemistry compared to other romantic interactions. This was the reason I knocked off half a star.

But other than that, thoroughly enjoyable and I can't wait to read the next one.
