Replaced battery in my Bissell Sweeper. The replacement takes about an hour inclusding cleaning of the internal parts.

After replacement, I have checked the charge retention. The battery has retained charge for more than 10 days now (without usage) and a single charge lasts almost an hour of continuous use. Probably will give a little more tahn an hour is used intermittently.

Remark - Cleaning the inner rotating parts, especially removing the hair that gets caughtb inside nakes a big improvement with regard to the load on the motor. This also gives improved battery. Worth the time and money.

When the battery pack on my Bissell Perfect Sweep Turbo faded away, I remembered a fruitless search for a replacement battery on an earlier model. This time, though, there's a choice among a few suppliers. The hitch is that Bissell doesn't give you instructions on how to replace the battery pack, presumably because it's not a simple pop-in, pop-out process. Also, keep in mind that you'll spend $20+ on a new battery for a $40 sweeper. This week, I decided half price was better than full price and found out that you need only one tool: a medium size Phillips screwdriver.

Here are my own instructions for my model #28806:
1. Remove the handle and the dust bin from the sweeper. 2. Turn sweeper on its back 3. Remove the ten screws holding the top and bottom of the case together. 4. Turn sweeper over and remove the top, being careful not to dislodge the motor or drive belt. 5. (optional) Remove all the accumulated dust and hair inside the case and lightly lubricate the wheels and roller brush axle. 6. Unplug the old battery pack by pushing on the clip holding the connector together. 7. Plug the new battery into the connector and tuck the connector under the battery in the case. 8. Glue the black rubber pad to the top of the battery. 9. Replace the top of the case, being careful that the wheels turn easily and that the spring on the power pad fits neatly over the interior power switch. 10. Turn the sweeper over and replace the ten screws, again making sure the wheels turn easily. 11. Replace the handle and the dust bin. IMPORTANT: The motor will not run unless the dust bin is in place, so don't worry that the new battery doesn't appear to be working with the dust bin removed. Charge the new battery for 16 hours. You're done!
