Spent a few days trying to pick the best all-in-one printer within a reasonable budget. Overlooked this model at first, but compared to all the other printers within the same class I realized this is the most pleasant to look at. All the negative reviews here put me off as well but all the printers seem to have their fair share of negative reviews. After actually using it I don't know where all the negativity is coming from.Watched a few review videos on YouTube before purchasing. Some reviewers said that the build quality left much to be desired but I honestly didn't have a problem with it. The front panel stays closed perfectly and isn't hard at all to open. No part of the printer made me feel that it would break under proper handling. The setup I'd say did take awhile to finish, but I didn't find it hard at all. Installed the app on my phone, created an account, connected to the printer via the app, then connected the printer to the wifi by using my phone. Took a few minutes but not difficult. The packaging was done well. The printer was wrapped properly in a plastic bag with handles making it very easy to pull out from the box. The Amazon box is a bit bigger than the hp box so don't get overwhelmed when you see a huge box delivered to your house lol.I love the print quality. Set the settings to best quality and bought the whitest hp paper I could find at Staples. Great combination for the eyes. The printing speed doesn't make you wish it would print any faster. It's not as instantaneous as laser printers but I never found myself counting the few seconds it would take to print. The document feeder is such a pleasant feature to have as well. Makes scanning documents so much easier.I would love to get this as a gift for all my friends if I could!

Very easy to setup using the SMART printing app. Like that it is an affordable printer that does duplex printing.

The printer is fast, decent quality and has many features. The HP app however, does not. It doesn't work well and I hate it. HP back at it again with medium hardware supported by lousy software.

I do not like the fact that you are held captive to their program. My first 6 month where part of the program. then when i decided to get out of the program.
My printer started getting an error message and I had to contact customer service. They resolved the issue on the Monday and then next day I got the same error message. I wasted 2 hours on the phone the next day to be told that the ink cartridges that worked on Monday did not work on tuesday????
So I decided to trash the printer and get a new one!!
It wont be an HP!!!

Save up $40 and go for the better HP Officejet 9015 or 9015e instead. Printer works ok, but is mainly app driven. Cannot just download software drivers and install as usual.

Print quality is good as expected. Setup was a bit tricky, but not overwhelming. Most functions work as intended. Does have the availability to be networked locally using ethernet cable if WiFi is not your preference. Apple Air Print works without errors. Build quality seems a bit on the cheaper side, but once you set the printer, it usually does not move unless you are refiling paper or ink.

The main drawback and deal breaker for me that prompted to return printer for the HP Officejet 9015 was the fact that this printer does not have the "Scan to Network Folder" or "Scan to Email" features. You would have to install the HP plus app, create account, and then setup scans from app. You would also be able to manually scan from the touchscreen. I wanted to install this printer to my home server, but was not compatible as it wanted to install via the app and not just a software driver. Found a way around it, but it was not the best.

A decent home printer if you want to setup via wireless and like working with apps. Not recommend for small business use or when scanning features are required.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be careful with Tech Support with MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6
Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2022

This printer is awesome! I have one at work and it works seamlessly with my MacBook Pro. I purchased this one for home and installed it easily on my iPad and Windows 10 computer. When I went to add it to my iMac, I couldn’t get it to install. The HP App won’t install from the App Store because it says that OS 10.14 is required. I went to System Preferences and used the IP address to add the printer and it showed that it was connected but when I tried to print, some strange text printed on one page and then multiple blank pages came out of the printer. I went online to search for solutions and came across the HP Support page and a chat popped up asking what printer I was using. The tech, “Smith”, asked what my issue was and then asked if he/she could have access to my computer. I downloaded the app so that the tech could access my computer. “Smith” opened a Text Edit program on my computer for us to communicate. (As I am writing this, I wonder why “Smith” didn’t continue using the chat on the HP site…unless “Smith” had an ulterior motive - to charge me for tech support.) “Smith” looked at the Support site for HP and verified which printer I was trying to install. Then “Smith” determined that he/she didn’t know how to solve this issue and if I could hold for 2-3 minutes while he/she consulted with the Tech Supervisor. “Smith” then came back and asked to access other parts of my computer. After spending 30 minutes on the chat with “Smith,” and allowing him/her to look at the command section of my computer, he/she determined that I had some issues with my network and if I had 20-30 minutes a tech could fix these issues for a one-time-service charge. I said absolutely not and that I would return the printer and get a new one. “Smith” then wanted to explain that I would continue to have issues even if I got a new printer or a new computer. I still declined so “Smith” closed the TextEdit before I could make a copy of it and logged off the computer. To make sure that “Smith” had no further access, I deleted the program that allowed access, disconnected from the my wi-fi and shut down my computer. I restarted my computer and searched for another way to install the printer and came across a suggestion from Apple about adding the printer. I removed the printer using System Preferences and reinstalled it. Guess what…it worked. I don’t know if HP knows about this scam that some of their techs seem to be using. It appears that the tech is working from home and is using this chat as a way to make some extra money. Don’t get suckered in to this scam! I am glad that I have some tech knowledge to solve the issue myself. If not, I would have contacted Apple support to help. Thanks to Apple for their great support sites!

I am a teacher and I signed up for the HP instant ink at work and love the fact that the ink comes directly to me before I run out. I had 6 months free with a $30 credit. It has been a year since I installed the printer and just last week I received a message that I need to add credit to my account for the future. At this point, I am going to try purchasing HP cartridges instead because our school district will not let us put a credit card on file to charge without prior approval. I can’t wait to see how long this printer’s Instant Ink program will last me - the HP OfficeJet Pro 8030e account says that I have 6 months and a $36 credit.

I have an issue with scanning to a computer from the printer using the touch screen. It will only scan to a USB or using the HP app. I am going to keep working with this aspect of it to see if I can scan to my computer without the app.

Overall a great All-in-One.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the negative reviews scare you away
Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2021
Colour Name: CoralVerified Purchase
This printer was super easy to set up and get up and running in about 20 minutes. A lot of reviews said the instant ink trial was preventing them from using their printer or something? I didn't run into that problem, I just said I didn't want the subscription on the HP app on my computer and it didn't hinder my ability to finish the set up. (No one is holding you at gun point to accept the subscription, so don't get it if you don't need it, it's generally not cost effective anyway). The print times for me have been quite acceptable, I'm a college student printing at least 30 pages a week for my classes and it spits pages out as fast as you'd expect a normal printer. Heavy print jobs will obviously take time (lots of reviews seem to think the prints should be instant and complained about prints taking 10 minutes) they are delusional and must think printers are a source of magic. I've had this thing for about a month or two and it meets my expectations as far as a printer goes.
Also, just read the steps for setting up the printer, they are helpful! I promise you wont get sold into a pyramid scheme by reading them.

Pros:
- super easy to access the ink cartridges (probably the lowest hassle experience I've had with a printer before)
- prints are very good quality from what I've printed so far (no need to constantly clean the ink heads to get a decent print like some reviews suggest. Seriously, who are these people? why are their standards so impossibly high?)
- touch screen is responsive and easy to use
- paper tray holds a good amount of paper (how many pages it holds will depend slightly on the weight of paper you're using)
- scanned documents/copies, scan/print as you'd expect.

Cons:
- paper tongue to catch prints doesn't pull out as far as I was expecting (not very important but could be important to some)
- every once in awhile the print head will start moving around (probably a regular self maintenance thing) but it might scare you if you're not expecting it.
- does not come with male to male USB cable (my primary connection to the printer because its just quicker and easier than trying to use bluetooth prints in my opinion)

None of these cons were significant enough to rate it less than 5* just some minor annoyances.

Overall its a great printer that meets my expectations and has all the bells and whistles I need it to have. I think a lot of the negative reviews were more operator errors or people just looking for an excuse to leave bad reviews on an HP product. But what do I know? I'm just a college student. I recommend this printer.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good, have been using since 9-1-22, correction of dpi available.

So far so good. This printer is replacing our HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One, which doesn't support HP Smart and the fact that Adobe Flash is no longer supported for scanning. We do use the scanning feature a lot. It survived three other HP printers we've had. New HP: I have printed regular text, good quality; photos okay, to dark but I think that's because of photographer. I did use HP Photo because I have it on hand, not sure how other photo papers will work. Don't like having to take out letter size paper to use photo tray, but not the end of the world. Scan feature is okay, wish they had given higher dpi options, 300 is the highest. This printer doesn't duplex scans but, that's okay since on my other scanners, I had to double check to make sure both sides scanned, so with this one I know. It does duplex documents if printing from computer, which is nice. I did not enroll in ink replacement program; feel that options are a rip off and company is tracking me too much. Disappointed from other reviews that we can't use other ink as I have in the past with my C7280, used inkjets.com. Had one bad cartridge and they replaced it since it was within their return timeframe. Didn't rate Tech support since I haven't had to use them thus far. Hopefully, I will continue to be satisfied with this printer and not have to amend my initial review.

Correction on dpi, it is up to 1200, I overlooked, sorry.

I’m using this printer for basic home needs. I wanted a printer that can stand alone without connecting to computers or phone lines. I was amazed at how easy it was to set up and had no problems with wifi connecting. The print quality is much better than expected, too. I’ve had many other printers, this one is the least complicated to use and works great. Don’t need tech support either. 🙂

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value Home Office Printer
Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2022

Prints as well as any document printer. Photos are OK but not great but its not a photo printer. Handles paper fine and so far the Instant Ink is working out well. Print engine plays well with WIN 11 and remote monitoring of expendibles is hanging in there. Duplex works good. Set up was easy and fairly straightforward if you know anything about computing. Not very intuitive for those that don't. Nice looking printer. Downers; touch screen too small to be useful and paper tray is extraordinarily cheap and not removed without fear of breaking it. All in all, a decent printer for the money.
