I do a lot of video recording and have recently been using my cell phone, and it's greatly diminishing the battery, as my phone always needs charging after doing a video, I needed a camera to use anytime without degrading my expensive cell. I was desperately looking for a camera in the past with a 'mic jack in', and found it tough to find one. I appreciate this camera with a built-in jack, now I can wear a 'Lavalier mic' or have an external handheld mic, it's just what I was looking for. I show some footage from this camera in my video.This camera has a lot of functionality, including many video formats, light, and night vision, easy film in black and white, and a lot of setting options like white balance, exposure, WDR, ISO, stabilization, color, and metering, the camera also comes with many extras, hood, handle, tripod, and swivel mount. After looking at some footage taken with the camera, it is quite watchable and does a decent job in low-light conditions. I tested out the frame rates and they work well in all video formats, and I find this useful. The recorded audio is decent, it's mono two-channel when using either the built-in mic or the shotgun. The shotgun mic is useful in windy conditions and the +20 dB works well!Of course, this 5K camera doesn't record videos as well as my cell or my 4K action camera with a well-known sensor, I expected this due to the camera's value and its many extras. I mostly upload in 1080p 30fps or 60fps, and with this camera, the frame rates work well, so I can use it with some limitations, as it's not perfect while moving or panning quickly. After testing I find the 1080p 60fps works the best when moving around swiftly but the footage is slightly jagged, when using the anti-shake it does help a lot in 4k / 2k modes. This cam's footage looks good on a tripod or when using steady slow movements, I find switching the white balance from auto to daylight looks better for nature shots and makes colors pop. I find using certain resolutions and lowering the exposure works better for different scenes, as 5k works well in a forest setting, and 1080p 30fps for most shots. The camera focus distance is about two feet, and the zoom is digital only, it can output 4k, but it doesn't match the quality of a higher-value camera with a larger sensor, this is to be expected. This is a good camera for any night shots, especially with the built-in IR LEDs.As for recommending it depends on the purpose, budget, etc. The recorded audio sounds fairly good and is clear, this cam will be best for broad shots indoors / outdoors where there is no need to go from wide to close-up shots and is best used on a tripod doing static or slow pans. It's quick and easy to use and perfect for beginners starting video recording and reduces wear on a phone and the battery. This cam will record approx. 90 mins, it's nice having the two batteries included! The great advantage of this camera is the ability to plug in an external mic, and remote, Wi-fi connecting offers IR night vision, long record times, two batteries, and easy mount on a tripod. All in all, it's well made and after trying many video settings, holding the camera steady, or using a tripod the footage looks pretty decent and fairly sharp, and the color grading is also good, I will most certainly be using this camera with a few tweaks of the settings it does record usable images/video for most HD video platforms. I feel the value is a bit high at the time of review, but I'm happy to have this Camcorder and appreciate all the features and the much-needed jack, it's a nice camera for my everyday video recording just grab-and-go, so I'm giving the HOTPEAK Camcorder Video Camera 4.5 stars.
