If you need floor space and/or you want to display your guitars, these hangers are as good as any you will find. The hanger forks are rubberized, so are gentle on the neck. While there is no locking mechanism, the adjustable rubber "washers" on each fork require you to intentionally turn the the neck to remove the instrument, so lessen the likelihood of accidentally dislodging the instrument . Theoretically, a child turning the body back and forth from below could dislodge the instrument, but less likely if the washers are pushed snugly against the neck/head area. My only disappointment was the poor quality of the plastic screw anchors. While some anchors of this design can easily be started by just hammering the point into drywall and then using a screwdriver to complete installation, the included anchors are fragile, the point bending when moderately tapped with a hammer, so that drilling a pilot hole was necessary. Even then, the first one I inserted lost its grip on the drywall and had to be replaced. Once I used my own anchors, installation was straight forward.
