Great Product! But be careful with the legs!

Great Product! But be careful with the legs!
Sturdiness: Good, just be careful with leg adjustment.Remote control: Not applicable, didn't come with one.Easy to use: I'd say yes, overall you can pull it out and adjust the legs and quickly fit the phone into the GripTight One mount with relative ease. Just take care in how you adjust the legs. Most of it is plastic. This is the smallest one of this style so it's uses are more limited. The railing I have it on in the photo is clearly too large for it to wrap itself around, so I added a little rubber bungee to keep it from rocking.I have had the product for about 2 months and had been using it almost every day. Overall I really like the tripod and it's use and it allowed me to take some long exposure photo's and time-lapse photos . I had it mostly attached to a wooden railing to take time-lapse footage over a 2 hour period. It remain stationary in most conditions other than heavy wind, which I wouldn't expect this tripod to overcome.I've used it also on uneven terrain( dirt, hills, grass, rocks, etc) and the ability to adjust the positioning of the legs and shift where the centre of weight of the phone is over the legs is very helpful. The product broke today as I was packing it away(2 months of near daily use) I heard a snap and one leg fell off. I would recommend moving the legs with intention and not too much force. They can separate without breaking as they are a friction cupped fit design that allows for the articulation of the joints. As a result they can 'pop' apart without breaking can be pushed back together. In this case it broke right at the main joint where all three meet and there is no further articulation there so the plastic snapped before the first join instead of coming apart at one of the joints. I wouldn't call this so much a fault of the product maybe just a weak point to be very considerate of. Me squeezing it was too much for that joint to take. I usually take care in how I'm folding it away and work with the joints. This time I had all three legs straight and I just gave them a squeeze to bring them more snuggly together and heard a snap. Too snuggly it seems! I may purchase another one, or maybe one of the bigger units which might be a bit more rugged and better suited for the location I'm using it and can hold this style of wooden railing better. The only other thing I noticed was the ball joint that holds the camera is becoming less stiff over time resulting in it not being able to hold the phone as straight if there is any degree of tilt involved. Which is Ok for levelled shots, but not if tilted up towards the sky. It may be a combination of the wearing out of the plastic and dirt and dust buildup. Keeping it clean may restore that stiffer movement.I have cleaned with just a rinse of tap water in the past to clean up that dirt/dust buildup. Maybe the manufactures provide some better care tips to help prevent or account for that.I have since attached the leg back on by wrapped some copper wire around all three legs near the top joint to do a quick fix so I can still use it with reduced leg reach. One of the leg joints broke during the process so one leg is now one joint shorter. Not ideal, but still useable! The GripTight ONE Mount that comes with the tripod worked will with my phone and will still be useable for other tripods. For Reference I was using with a Samsung S7 which is less than half the rated weight it supports.Dimensions 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9 mm (5.61 x 2.74 x 0.31 in)Weight 152 g (5.36 oz)

I had a previous mode of this tripod/phone mount but it didn’t fold up very well when not in use. This one has a notch in the silver cylinder so the ball joint allows the camera mount to fold right down beside the legs to become nice and compact. The flexible legs are easy to manipulate, and the spring in the camera mount makes it easy to attach/remove the phone. Some have mentioned that it could be a bit tippy and it can fall over easily, but I find that if I lower the centre of gravity by “squatting” the legs, it is very solid (see pic).

Really like it as it is small enough to carry everywhere and the articulated legs gives a lot of room for stable positioning. The only thing, as you can see in the pictures, is that it broke at two places after two months of usage. It still works, it's just that now the stand will sometimes collapse on its weight since there is a loose on the base of the legs.

This tripod is very versatile and heavy duty while being light at the same time. I have it all twisted perfectly to mount a webcam on my thunderbolt display so that I could point it at a whiteboard on my wall. Perfect!

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile and Reliable - The JOBY GripTight ONE GP Phone Holder!
Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2023
Style: GripTight ONE GP StandVerified Purchase
As someone who's always on the lookout for practical and efficient gadgets, my recent purchase of the "JOBY GripTight ONE GP, Universal Phone Holder" has left me thoroughly impressed.

One of the standout features of the JOBY GripTight ONE GP is its simple yet robust design. Its construction is rugged enough to hold my phone securely in place while maintaining a lightweight profile. The ease of installation and removal of the phone is a breeze, and its universal fit means it can handle various phone sizes without a hitch.

The adjustable height and angle features require a slight learning curve but are well worth it. Although it might take a moment to find the perfect angle or height for viewing, once locked in, it stays put, providing a stable viewing experience, regardless of the environment. This flexibility has been particularly useful for hands-free calls, watching videos, and even for capturing steady photos or videos.

When compared to other brands that I've tried, the JOBY GripTight ONE GP stands out significantly. It has shown better resilience to wear and tear, maintains a stronger grip on my phone, and provides more flexibility with positioning. Plus, its compact design makes it easy to pack and carry around, perfect for on-the-go use.

In summary, the "JOBY GripTight ONE GP, Universal Phone Holder" is a fantastic accessory that does what it's supposed to do, and does it well. The combination of its simplicity, durability, and flexibility make it a gadget that I'd highly recommend to anyone in need of a reliable phone holder.

Whether you're a professional looking for a handy tool for video calls, a content creator in need of steady video capture, or just someone who enjoys hands-free phone use, the JOBY GripTight ONE GP has got you covered! A well-deserved five stars from me.
