Hubby replacement
Went on a solo trip and the pictures I took with this are better than the ones my hubby would take. I used it to take pictures of myself (selfie!) and as an "extender" above people's heads :) It took a couple of sessions before I figured out that I can adjust the pivot AFTER I've adjusted the legs. But that's my fault, not the item! I took this on volcano trekking, waterfall chasing and even tried to use it on a scooter with my go pro. That last one didn't work out as well as I'd hoped :) Otherwise, great travel tripod.

Purchased this gorilla pod used for half the price it was regular and does the job fine. Quite a worthy product and definitely worth the price even not on sale. Holds my sony zve10 and my 10 18mm perfectly

The things I like about this tripod are:
1, Small size easy to carry on
2, Turns into different shapes (if you want it to hang on the tree, no problem)
3, sturdy enough for most size of the camera

The GorillaPod has become a popular brand for portable compact tripods. They are certainly very useful if you can find a suitable item to attach it to or if its short height is not a handicap. It appears to be well made and its longevity appears to be fine although it's not like I use it all the time. Which begs the question as to whether you can find a cheaper alternative. And the answer to that is a resounding yes. What I did was find a less expensive set of legs and coupled it with a separate mini ball head. The ball head is the GorillaPod's greatest weakness as it's rather simplistic with only a single adjustment knob. You can buy mini ball heads with a knob for the ball, a knob for the azimuth adjustment, an Arca Swiss quick release attachment and I even found one with a shoe on the side so you can attach an external microphone. Of course a mini ball head with all this functionality is going to be a bit heavier than the GorillaPod one but only by a few ounces and it will be sturdier (handle more weight) and add a bit more height. So my advice is to search for such an alternative and see what price differential you can arrive at.

A few people were complaining about the knobs coming off but I haven’t had any issues. This is super light weight so don’t expect any counter weight if you need it. All in all, am happy

Pros.
Quickly connects to camera.
Funky legs let you put the tripod anywhere it can get a grip.

Cons.
Wish the legs were slightly longer.

I have both the Joby Gorillapod 1k and much larger and sturdier 5k. The 1k is much better suited for recording videos and getting shots with your phone. I personally use this guy with a Neewer metal phone mount which has a ball head to swivel the phone in any direction/orientation I want.

I'm not sure I'd trust it with a DSLR or mirrorless camera (the 5K is much better for this application), but for light point-and-shoot cameras or phones, it's perfect. The legs are easily readjusted yet rigid, and the stand won't tip over as long as the legs are set up correctly space apart.

All-in-all, I highly recommend this stand for lighter setups. It's an easy carry in the bag and takes seconds to whip out, adjust, and frame the right shot.

It really is a super nice tripod, but unfortunately it will start to crack and break after a maximum time of 5 mouths with heavy use, i use the tripod approximately ever single day for 4 mouths and it is now broken with cracked plastic and legs/balls that constantly pop out.

And trust me, this is not a one time problem sense this has happened with ever Joby tripod I've owed, this is my 5:th one.

It is relatively light, and easily transportable. It's flexible legs allow it to stand in small spaces and attach to things. It has a ball socket to adjust the angle of the camera. It isn't 100% sturdy or stable, but it is better than not having it, and better than rigid tripods of this size. I find it works best with a delay timer to ensure stability when taking a shot. It is a tool worth having.
