"Frozen Empire" isn't necessary a bad movie, but at the same time it definitely wasn't as good or enjoyable as "Afterlife." For me, there was two main issues that spoiled the potential this sequel had.

The squabbling within the Spengler family was the first, with one of the junior family members having turned into a bit of a brat, and the other a bit of an idiot. It all feels over trivial and over dramatic, while at the same time rather pointless and at odds with their characters from the first movie. I'm not sure what the overall point of it all was meant to be (other than plot-filler). As it isn't interesting enough to deliver that feel-good-everyone-and-everything-is-ok conclusion by the end of the film.

Then there was the "bad-guy" who didn't turn up until well in to the second half of the movie. They spent so long building the anticipation, and making him out to be incredibly evil and powerful. But in the end, he didn't really do much other than walk about and squawk at people. Definitely an anti-climax, and a let down in this regard.

Overall, a pretty average movie - with a few redeeming features (Slimer!) but not enough to save it, and it really needed something more than it produced.
