i also tried bushnell,tasco,muddy,spypoint,stealth,etc.
then these came up one day and i figure ide give it a try.
to my surprise, the build, ease of use and features rival many high end cams. i put this cam out for 1 year with rayovac AA batteries, and after retreival i still had 3/4 battery life after 500 pics and -25 winter weather.
nice to view ,edit, delete the pics on the camera while mounted on a tree. very easy.
i have since bought 6 more gardepro and am trying 2 of the browning command ops trail cams with great results. highly recommend gardepro a-3

Make sure once you put switch in the on position. You see the count down on the screen. If you dont see it. The camera will not capture the movements.
GardrePro A3S Camera – In all features this camera simply out does all the rest in my opinion. Detection range reaches out there and captures movement very well. Audio is superb and very clear and detects sounds from a good distance. Night vision I have found to be the best of all cameras as the soft white light seems to float out for quite a distance in a even glow for a clear sharp picture.
Change – If I could change one thing it would be the viewing screen position as where it is now on the swinging door it is hard to view the target field that one wants to capture. I bought a very thin mirror and when closing the screen door to almost closed I can see most of the area I want to video. If the screen was on the main body it would show a clear image of the area one wants to film.
Overall – For me from my experience The Garde Pro A3S is simply the best in all aspects and especially price.
Top reviews from other countries
Daytime pics and videos are very crisp. I can easily distinguish individual markings on the coyotes. Night-time images also very good. The distance at which the motion triggers the camera to start recording is easily twice as far as other cameras in this price range I have used previously, and there are side motion triggers which start recording before the animal is fully in front of the camera. I have found those nice as it starts the video early enough to get more footage of the animal, especially important if the animal is running. Most of the videos that I am interested in are at night. Couple times with the cameras already triggered I have video of animals sprinting full speed in front of the cameras and can still identify individuals. In still picture mode sometimes an animal moving that fast is already out of frame before the camera triggers. Daytime trigger response seems a little better. I have several of animals racing across a trail with all 4 feet off the ground and I still get 1 pic of them. I have 3 of the cameras set up with overlapping fields of view so I can analyze what is getting caught and what's not.
Added bonus is the nice audio quality. Previous camera I was relying on had pretty much zero audio recording. I had a recent video of a dark animal at night, lying on the ground, could not tell what I was seeing through the brush. I finally remembered to turn the sound up and could hear distinctly hog grunting that let me identify what the animal was.
Too soon to know if the battery life will be as good as claimed - 8 months according to some reviews I have seen. Will update as I have more time on the cameras.
June 10, 2024 - still on the original batteries I started using in early February. Not the most expensive nor the cheapest batteries - Rayovac alkaline. Cameras in continuous use just over 4 months. Still getting great pics and videos, especially considering the price of the cameras. No issues with cameras at all.
June 27, 2024 - batteries in a couple of the cameras finally started to show signs of weakening. We have had a heat wave of at or near 100 degree days past couple of weeks which probably hastened the battery demise. Still images still fine, even at night. Daytime videos fine. But at night, with the extended time the light stays on for the videos they suddenly started recording for only 3 seconds each. Went ahead and changed all the batteries. 3 of the cameras have been in continuous use for almost 5 full months, and I use Rayovac alkaline batteries.
Setup is easy enough. Insert the 8 AA Alkaline or Lithium batteries, install the SD card (max size is 128 gig). I installed a 64 gig ram card. Turn it on, format SD card and setup the camera. I set if for Motion detection with 1 minute videos and 5 photos in a row at 24 megapixels. Menu has the standard setup that all seem to have: Date/Time, Time zone, 12 or 24 hour Time format and so on.
This camera has side motion detectors which I like a lot. Sure seems to catch a lot more animals in the videos and photos. You can turn the side detectors off in the setup menu if so desired. You can also setup for loop recording and have it active in a certain time range if so desired.
Oh, and one of the main reasons I bought it is for the "No Glow" I.R. night vision lights. I don't want any two legged critters seeing the flash and walking off with my camera at night. Stick with No Glow. It's the future of all great trail cameras in my opinion.
I placed the camera in my back yard which is wooded and no one lives near for miles so a lot of critters come visiting. Mostly at night but sometimes a flock of Turkeys wanders into my backyard in the day. After the first night I pulled the camera down and connected it to my computer. Wow, first night I was visited by a large Raccoon and two Opossums. Videos are crystal clear as are the photos with the animals about fifty feet or so away. I did have audio on for the videos but that is the one downside to this camera. The audio is horrible. So keep that in mind if you want audio in your video captures. The audio is muffled and sounds like it is recording wind blowing by as you hold the camera out the window as you drive down the highway. Anyway, I turned the audio off in all future recordings.
Super nice trail camera at a great price.
After opening the box and setting it up, I noticed it needed new firmware (6.x). It came with 3.x. When trying to load the new firmware, the camera displayed “Invalid File: ROM_APP”. I made sure I did it right several times, even factory setting the camera. So, I decided to contact the manufacturer as they claim 24/7 support on their website. Curiously no phone number was listed, only Email. So, I sent them an Email but received no reply after waiting quite some time. [UPDATE: I did receive an Email a day later saying "We regret that V3.0 and V6.0 are two different series and cannot by upgraded to each other, the highest version of the V3.0 series is the V3.0.59". It would have been nice if this was mentioned on their website. I will be testing the camera again with the latest V3.0 series firmware and will update this review if necessary]
I decided to go ahead and test the camera just the way I received it without the firmware update. I set it up with high sensitivity as I needed detection for about 50 feet. This camera claims 82 feet detection range.
It was easy to setup and the camera and video were much better than the old camera I had however, the audio sounded a bit muffled and not as good as the old trail cam.
The motion detection was all over the place. Sometimes It would trigger on simple tree limb movement 30 feet away but would not detect me walking 10 – 90 feet away directly in front of the camera. The only good video I got of myself was when I walked in front of the camera at about 15 feet away and stopped for a few seconds.
I then turned off the side motion sensors so that only the forward facing one was active. I then walked in front of the camera from 5 feet to 100 feet once every 10-15 minutes over a period of several hours. I ended up having about 15 videos of only the trees. Not a single video was captured of myself during that time frame.
[UPDATE] - I changed the rating to 4 stars, and I will be keeping this as it is now working well after my 2nd test, less 1 star for mediocre audio compared to my previous trail cam. The audio is good enough.
Left camera on for 1 full day and night with high sensitivity. Captured about 50 good quality videos of various people walking and a pesky coyote for several hours overnight with no apparent false triggers even when the wind was blowing the tree branches. Range of capture was between 15 feet and 90 feet.
3 differences that made the camera go from bad to good between the 1st and 2nd test.
1. I got the latest Firmware for my series (3.x). Tip: look at what version you have in the menu. If it starts with 3.x, you have the 3 series. If it starts with 6x, you have the 6 series.
2. Temperature. Temperatures are in the lower 70s now. Temperatures were in the upper 90s to lower 100s when I first tested it. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but if the camera is solely relying on the Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) to detect motion, then it makes sense to me that it won’t work when the outside temperature is close to body temperatures.
3. Angle. I tilted the angle slightly down towards the area I wanted to survey. Again, not sure if this has any effect on motion detection.
Pros:
1) The price is great.
2) The audio was excellent! Way beyond any of my other cameras and even distant or low volume sounds were captured by the camera.
3) Exposure is adjustable for different locations and will auto adjust mid video if necessary. Medium setting seems to work the best for me so far.
4)LED's invisible to the human eye. This camera is totally undetectable at night. No red glow visible at all.
5) Clear night time photos and video.
6) I like that it uses full size SD cards so I'm not fumbling around with a tiny micro card in the woods. I will say that it needs a pretty fast SD card though. I used a class 10 card first and noticed some stutter in the audio. I switched to a faster A2 card and no more problems. I think many of the negative reviews are from people who are using slower or incompatible cards. If you are getting partial photos or weird video/audio artifacts switch to a quality card with a transfer speed over 30mb like a U3, V30 or faster if you plan to do a lot of video. Sandisk has never let me down. Just because a card works in one make of camera doesn't mean it'll work in all of them.
Cons:
1) Bit rate of the video reveals it is on par with 1280x720p even though the video settings allow for 1920x1080p video. Not uncommon but disappointing. In all fairness, the description says 1296p not 1920p (though it lists 1920x1080p setting in the description) It is typical for a camera in this price range and not a deal breaker.
2) My biggest gripe seems like the most trivial but it is the on/off switch. Every other camera has "off" all the way left and "on" all the way right. "Settings" is in the center position. They are easy to turn on and off with gloves because you can just push it all the way over. THIS camera has "On" in the center position, which means I'm going to have to remove gloves and be careful to only slide the switch one click every time I turn it on. That is going to be irritating every time I check the camera.
