I’ve only played with it For about 2 hours, and I’m already over the fact it’s a wired controller.First things first, it was purchased because all of the other controllers, plus 3 more have gotten stick drift. After the most recent one has failed in 3 months I knew it was time for an upgrade. After doing an abundance of research, I found the G7 SE. I HOPE the Hall effect sticks surpass my expectation of at least a year of rocket league gameplay. The feel of the controller matches the comfort of the original Xbox series. The back buttons come extremely in handy, super easy to program and stellar placement. I used to utilize LB a lot, but have it bound to the left bonus button. Things are much, much easier. Might make a secondary profile for forza so they simulate shift paddles. The wire is about 7-8 feet, just long enough to reach my couch from the TV. Cannot complain, until I somehow forget I have 4 kids running amuck out one of my cats decides to play with off.The AXBY buttons aren’t all that much softer than the usual Xbox controller. A few people complain about the membrane feel, but I hardly notice a difference. The D pad is where it’s felt. Super soft and spongy. Don’t need it for much, so I can’t complain about it.The sticks.I will update the review quarterly in regards to how it’s holding up my control mashing. The response time is perfect. How my thumbs feel resting is superb. I feel I have more grip than the standard Xbox controller. Almost feels deeper, and also more cushioned. The Hall effect magnets, you feel them. A more firm resistance when moving. But after use, it just feels perfect. I will never go back and honestly do not feel the need for any pro series controllers that are double the price. To finalize:If you’re looking for a comfortable controller, and can physically deal with the attached wire - DO NOT waste money on an elite series, Thrustmaster, literally anything double the price of this controller. For casual to more serious gamers, this thing really performs. You might scoff, but seriously: for a controller that has a price tag that’s less than the standard Xbox controller it’s a fair and honest upgrade. Can’t wait to see how long the Hall effect stocks last.

Controller feels great and the joysticks are designed to avoid any wandering. I bought it to escape the cycle of constantly having to buy new controllers because of stick wander. I was worried the cord would not be long enough to reach my couch but it was long enough and then some. You also have access to software that allows for extensive customization to functions like hair triggers, button remapping, dead zone adjustment, vibration levels and more. Bottom paddle buttons are nice and solid when locked and work great when unlocked. Cord is light as well, you don't feel it at all.

From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell this controller was built with gamers in mind.

The wired connection ensures zero input lag, providing a responsive and seamless gaming experience. The button layout is intuitive, and the ergonomic design feels comfortable in my hands, even during extended gaming sessions.

The textured grips and precise analog sticks enhance control, offering a level of precision that's crucial in intense gaming moments. The vibration feedback is spot-on, immersing me further into the game.

One standout feature is the customizable buttons. Being able to map functions to my preference gives me a competitive edge, especially in fast-paced games. It's a game-changer for personalizing the controller to suit my playstyle.

The build quality is top-notch, and the durable materials make it feel like a premium accessory. It's compatible with various platforms, adding versatility to its list of strengths.

In summary, the GameSir G7 SE Wired Controller is a must-have for any Xbox gamer looking for performance, comfort, and customization. It's become my go-to controller, and I can't imagine my gaming setup without it. Game on!

Great controller i mean where do i start, the feeling of joysticks is nice you might not notice it at first but after using it i cant go back to a regular it just feels like something is missing. I hated playing cod cuz i needed an elite controller but this is way better when u get used to it which is about a week i would say. The paddles are nice and comfortable in a good spot, it feels really good clicking the joysticks in i usually am scared to do that due to creating stick drift but with these i can comfortably spam click them and it feels good to click it in too (pause). Magnetic face plate is good to have very nice for taking off and cleaning if needed. I love how you can also remap any button to any other button including the 2 paddles this is very helpful. I used to use 3 paddles on elite cuz 4 was too much but i can manage with 2 paddles now that cod has auto sprint feature on so i dont need a paddle just to click my LS in to sprint. The only little issue i have is the start and select buttons are higher than on normal controller and takes a bit of getting used to but after a week or so should be fine, just push past the week!

To Summarize:
============

Pros:
-----------
1. Joysticks feel good to use and even click! (Best Hall Effect joysticks out there!)

2. Paddles are nice and comfortable.

3. Magnetic faceplate (easier for cleaning if needed.)

4. Fully remappable with different profiles!

5. Better response time compared to other controllers.

6. Quality is great, feels like a solid controller and light unlike the elite series which is heavy for no reason!
(i dropped it couple times, works fine and its light so shouldnt damage it.)

Cons:
-----------

1. Wired but some other cables dont fit in all the way.

2. Mute button for mic is decent but a little weird placed.

3. Just wish it had trigger stops that would be the ultimate controller.

4. Start and Select buttons are placed pretty high and takes a week to get used to.

I literally just got this controller, I've only used it for about 15 minutes and I can already tell it's a great controller for Xbox One/Series and for Windows PCs as well. It's very comfortable to hold and has a really nice weight too it even though it has no batteries. The buttons all feel good, about the same as an OEM Xbox controller. The dpad feels good, better than an OEM Xbox controller for sure. The sticks feel phenomenal to use. I have other Hall Effect controllers but this one just feels better. I'm sure that's mostly because of the anti friction rings, but the tension of the sticks feels perfect as well. I also really like the removable faceplate as it makes it a tool free job to replace the plastic thumbsticks if needed one day. The back buttons are also nice and in a comfortable spot.

The software is also pretty decent. You can setup profiles, map the back buttons, change the stick range and deadzone etc etc. This is also where you can update the controller firmware. No complaints here.

With all that said I do have some minor complaints. To start, it's not wireless. Obliviously I knew that before buying it, but if it was wireless I'd probably buy 4 of these. Also the USB C connector is recessed into the controller. On one hand that makes it feel very sturdy when it's connected. However, it also means not every USB C cable will work with this. I have some that do and some that are too big to go into the hole around the port. Lastly, the 3.5mm audio jack has a bit of added noise when using it, like a hum or hiss kind of noise. I don't think it's that bad, especially as I use other devices for my headset on PC anyways, and when sound is playing I can't hear this noise anymore. However it's still worth noting and if it affects all of these controllers I could see it bothering someone more than it bothers me.

As a side note/extra, this controller also works with the Brook Wingman XB. This allows the controller to also work on the Xbox 360 and the Original Xbox. I also tested it with the Mayflash Magic-NS and works with that as well, meaning you could use this on the Switch as well.

Overall I'm really happy with this. If something happens I'll update this review but for now this is a really great controller. Other than being wired this is probably the best controller you can buy for Xbox, and a very good controller for PC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mando de muy buena calidad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely not just hype
Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2023

I can't say enough about how great this controller has been to me, even regardless of its price point. The analog sticks and triggers have very smooth linear activation, the hall effect components are worthy of the hype in my opinion.

There is no friction in the movement of the analog controls, and the "spring" resistance feels just right for me. The ABXY and d-pad buttons are dome switches, which is just what the Microsoft Xbox controller feels like. The other buttons including the rear buttons are micro switches. If you're not sure what that is, they're somewhat like a mouse click but take a bit more force to activate than a mouse (too little resistance in the switch would be bad, and these feel good.) The tops of the sticks are not concave like the Xbox controller, which has a different feel, but not one that bothers me or impacts performance personally. The analog triggers have a more aggressive anti-slip texture to them than the Xbox controller. The size and overall feel of the controller otherwise feels just like the Xbox controller to me. The weight of the controller feels perfectly acceptable, its definitely lighter than the wireless Xbox controller with batteries in it, but also not as light as an empty one. I have no complaints, it doesn't feel cheap.

The cable that comes with this is really high quality. It's covered in braided material but not overly rigid. The molded heads on both ends are very thick and strong, and the USB-C end that fits into the controller is very secure - I don't really have any concerns about it wiggling around or breaking the connector by dropping it on the cord or something.

The controller has lots of features that standard Xbox controllers don't. I found that game support for the bottom buttons is not really as good as I thought it would be - some games just don't register the input. Everything else works as expected. There's an added "M" key that works like a function key, unlocking some on-the-fly adjustments. If you install the GameSir Nexus app in windows you can set up to three profiles that are saved directly to the controller (not the PC). You can use the M key and the ABXY's to switch between the controller's defaults, and your three stored profiles. If you're using the headset jack on the controller, there's a handy mic mute button next to the 3.5mm jack, and you can use the M-key in combination with the d-pad to control the overall volume of your headset, and the voice to game volume ratio (to an extent).

The profiles let you change things like button mappings, deadzones, and vibration. So far, it would seem you can only re-map buttons that are internal to the controller - there's no way to assign keyboard shortcuts to the buttons for instance. The one thing I found this useful for is to re-map the stick button clicks to the rear buttons, which I find useful because trying to trigger the stick switch while aiming/steering/looking/whatever usually causes me a non-zero amount of grief.

Using the Nexus app for windows you can also test your inputs, view the analog stick values and real-time movement, calibrate the analog controls, and update the firmware.

They recently published a firmware update (v6.28) that allows you to increase the polling rate from the default 250 to 500 and 1000hz (effectively 4ms, 2ms, and 1ms control response), like you can with the Razer accessories I have. Unfortunately the 500 and 1000hz polling settings still come with a "work in progress" warning and cause some issues. You cannot, for instance, use the headset jack with the higher polling rates. Also when I turn the polling rate up, it starts to generate some odd input "spasms". My right stick randomly whips a 180, and sometimes my left and right triggers activate for no apparent reason. Everything goes back to normal with the default polling rate though. Eventually they'll fix this, I'm sure. It's not a deal breaker for me in any event, as I really can't tell the difference between 4ms and 1ms.

The front top plate is magnetically affixed and stays securely in place. Other than the obvious cosmetic implications, cleaning is the only practical reason I can think to have a removable top plate. There seems to be anti-friction rings around the analog sticks, maybe if those wore out one day it could be a meaningful replacement, but I predict that replacement face plates would be long out of stock before I would need to replace those.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Xbox Original Controller!
Reviewed in India on June 24, 2024

I’ve always used Xbox original controllers, and never really bothered using any other controller. I’ve used the regular ones, special editions, and even the elite series controllers. They always had 2 major issues for me. The LB and RB bumpers being almost useless after a couple of months, and of course the stick drift. So I thought I’ll give this controller a shot as it’s only 300-400 /- more than an Xbox controller.

I’ve been using this controller for the past 3 days, and I used it to play some FPS, and 3rd person shooters on my Xbox Series X.

Coming to the pros:

1. Controller feels light but, it is built very well. There are absolutely so squeaks or cracks.
2. All the buttons feel tactile, and ABXY buttons have the right amount of travel to them, and are very similar to Xbox original controller. The other buttons like the Xbox menu, pause, back, share, mode, and the microphone mute switch (which should be there in every Xbox controller imo) are clicky rather than having the membrane feel to them. I got used to it in an hour of usage.
3. The length of the USB C cable that is provided is good. It’s around 10 feet, and I can comfortably use it from my couch.
4. Now coming to the Hall effect sticks, and triggers themselves (No more stick drift!!! At least for a very long time), they are excellent. I downloaded the GameSir’s nexus app, and calibrated the sticks after updating the controller’s firmware. They are extremely responsive. The triggers travel is very good and smooth. Extremely happy with this.
5. The LB and RB buttons feel amazing too. They definitely look like they’ll last longer than Xbox original controllers, and the D pad is good as well.

There’s nothing really bad about this one, and if I have to really nitpick then I guess the USB C end of the cable that goes into the controller is weirdly thin, and this makes finding a replacement cable a bit annoying but, the cable is a braided one so I don’t think it should have any issues.

Give this one a chance instead if you’re gonna buy an Xbox controller.
